Spurs interested in Korver
I thought Korver to the Nets was a done deal, but it looks like money really is a concern for him.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
If he wants money there's no way in hell he's coming here. That being said dude is a fucking sharpshooter and one of the best in the league, I'd definitely like him on this team.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
I think the Spurs would have been able to do so much more this offseason if they didn't sign Splitter.
-
Re: Spurs interested in Korver
My real question is why is he Orange?

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Basically a 6'7'' Gary Neal....when his shot is off, he offers NOTHING else. PASS.

That's irrelevant, they NEED Splitter, or a big man of comparable production, and 8-9 million a season is the going rate for starting size in the NBA these days.
Splitter's box score numbers don't warrant his contract but imo what he does for this team is quantifiable in more than merely box score stats. His insertion into the starting lineup and ability to defend the PnR better than anyone on our team made us an elite defensive squad again (oh and Timmy's resurgence :lol ). But you can't deny the obvious. Splitter's on the bench the last two years and nothing. Splitter starts this year and the Spurs are a juggernaut. I don't think he'll get much better than he is now but I honestly don't see many options outside of him if the Spurs want to remain competitive while Duncan's here. Plus he has great chemistry with Tim/Tony/Manu

:tu
Especially pass if it's going to take $7mil/yr to get him.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Good point. I'm just thinking about the future of the Spurs, after Duncan and Ginobili retire. I don't know who (other than Leonard) the Spurs will build around, and I don't see them getting any high draft picks to get star talent. I am just wondering how the Spurs will re-stock talent in a few seasons.
-
Re: Spurs interested in Korver
How can anyone spend that kind of money on Korver? Guy has nothing other than shooting. I'm guessing the Spurs are looking at him as a plan d. Once they see that price tag, though, they are sure to pass. I can't say he's better than Matt Bonner.
-
Re: Spurs interested in Korver
We've much better version of him, Danny Green. Pass.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Rather have AK47, but he's not bad otherwise.

Ok. Korver isn't coming either. He just got offered a $20M deal.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
People need to get the fuck over the Splitter deal already. Splitter is a capable big-man in a league where good centers are hard to come by and anyone else would have cost the same or more money. Personally I'm glad to have him back and think he still has room to grow especially if he puts on a little more muscle this summer. With or without Korver or Ellis Spurs are still the team to beat in the west.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
I'd rather have Ashton Kutcher

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Vet minimum only. Otherwise a waste of time.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Here in Atlanta, I've seen Korver play pretty well overall at times. Frankly, I think he brings a little more to the table than Neal does. But that doesn't mean he's the only possible answer out there.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Ashton has career 42% 3G%age
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kyle_k...eer_stats.html
about the same as Matty. But Matty showed in these playoffs he can, when motivated, defend bigs down low pretty well, even he won't rebound for shit.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Three years, $20 million for Kyle Korver?
Yeah, no, I don't want the Spurs to get in on that action. One-dimensional shooters no longer are much of a fit on this team. Even Neal is more well-rounded than that.

Kawhi - legitimate building block
Bertans - Middle 2nd Rounder, solid since drafted
Hanga - Late 2nd Rounder, solid since drafted
Richards - Middle 2nd Rounder, underwhelming since drafted
Blair - Early 2nd Rounder, steady decline since rookie season
Baynes - Undrafted, solid potential but not exactly overly young at this point, unknown
Joseph - Late 1st rounder, horrible rookie season but solid progress - steady role player at best
Building around that, with the exception of Kawhi, doesn't leave me with much hope of even a playoff berth. Sorry, it just doesn't excite me. Even adding Jean-Charles...who knows what he actually will be? It's nice to have that young stable of players, but the only ones that look they definitely have a future with this team (At this point) are Kawhi and Joseph.

I agree. Leonard is the only legit building block for the future.

Kwahi alone makes up for all the other not likely to become stars.
Still a great job by the Spurs.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
Green has a much of a future as Joseph does. Their contracts end at the same time, and so long as he's willing to stay and show legitimate development, Green will get a new deal. The same is not true for Joseph unless he wants to come back on the cheap.
-
Re: Spurs interested in Korver
He's good but his role is essentially: slightly more reliable Gary Neal.
Won't be worth the money if he's retaining the 5-6m/year pricetag, or wanting even more. Spurs can just bring back Manu to do the same thing and more and still sign a PG/SG to help handle the ball. Signing Korver kinda erases every other possibility, and we're still up shit creek without another playmaker which we sorely need.

I agree that we draft well. But if we think that that list of players is going to make us contenders we're just not being realistic. That's my point.

Re: Spurs interested in Korver
korver getting 6 million and redick getting 7 million makes you feel better about manu's deal
