As of this point, the Spurs do not have 10M in cap space. His cap hold is around 19M, but they can't sign him until July 10th. All the semantics happen on that day so it's no big deal.

:lol here's hoping most of the GNSFs meltdown and kill themselves tbh.
:lol @ GNSF that didn't think this was predictable and are cutting themselves now

The Spurs are not and never have been under the cap this offseason. Manu's cap hold is $19M, so the Spurs can resign him for any amount up to that without worrying about cap ramifications.
If it really is $10M, though, the Spurs won't be able to get under the cap by more than the MLE even if they amnesty Bonner and let Neal walk, I think. In that case, the Spurs would have the MLE to work with.

The bad thing about gnsfs is that they never get disgusted and quit posting. They get disgusted and spew even more annoying crap on the board.

Re: Manu is back per his twitter
Does this hurt our chances of signing Kirelenko or Korver?

Re: Manu is back per his twitter
Finalizing deals w/Tiago and Manu fairly quickly leads me to believe that the Spurs have other moves in mind and wanted to wrap up the loose ends to know exactly what they're working with.
Hope that's the case and their next big move isn't announcing the return of Matty and Neal tbh. :lol
-
Re: Manu is back per his twitter
My only slight surprise is that Tiago got done first (because Manu's contract was the one I felt as more critical to making other moves). But they both got wrapped up with plenty of time to target FA's which is great if they choose to take that route.
When a FA leaves the country during FA, it's a pretty good sign that they know things are handled :lol

Why would rumors circulate around the Spurs' office?
They're the ones who know.

Matty was never gone in the first place, probably sitting on Pop's laps as we speak.

Don't know yet. Worst case scenario, Manu's contract is large enough to not have any significant cap space for FA's. But even then, the Spurs will have the MLE contract to offer (4 years, 22M).

Manu's wife:
Screw moving! We're staying home two more years! Happy as a clam!

If Splitter's contract starts above his cap hold, the Spurs can just sign him last. The only way the Spurs would sign Splitter first is if the first year is under his cap hold, and it can't get that low on a 4/36 deal.
But you're right, the Spurs need to have the Splitter and Ginobili deals done so they know how much they can offer if they have cap room or the MLE.
-
Re: Manu is back per his twitter
Ginobili showed he can still compete at a high level. Don't know why some people are mad that one of the best Spurs to don the jersey is going to retire here tbh. And if the Spurs are able to add another ball-handler, then that makes Ginobili all the more effective.

Re: Manu is back per his twitter
OK, should be a good move if Manu calls something less 5/year. I can seen enough space to bring AK here

At least 2 more years of the Big 3.
Good to see Manu back. Waiting on the contract details.

Re: Manu is back per his twitter
Is it possible that the Manu agreed to take whatever room the Spurs have left after signing other FAs, with the provision that it is at least a certain amount? I mean, is it possible that the number hasn't actually been agreed to yet?

Re: Manu is back per his twitter
LMAO at people believing some GNSF's claim of 2/20. Said GNSF will soon be pinked.
-
Re: Manu is back per his twitter
There's no way he's getting 10mil/year unless RC fell off the wagon again tbh.
