The Whataburger jokes are so fuckin played out. THIS DUDE IS A FUCKIN BEAST WHO STAYS FUCKIN DIMES!!!!
this is routine for Blair. Before the draft he lost of ton of weight, after the guaranteed money came he let himself go and stopped working. Now he's desperate to get another guaranteed deal, so he's back at it.
This isn't anything new, why start a thread on the subject??? Blair was slimmed down for all this past season.
Thought he was better when he was fat.
Dude looks ripped in that photo, good for him. Not a fatty anymore, but he's still got to carve himself a more sustainable role in the league than "extremely undersized hustle big with no ACLs"
If only he played a position other than C...
Is he planning to play a smaller position to suit his height?
How can anyone say Blair was better when he was fat b/c he was fat his whole tenure with the Spurs. It looks like he took the past couple of months to turn that fat into muscle. Too bad he didn't do that the 4 prior offseason he had with the Spurs.
This just shows his mentality, he never improved his D, never improved his jumpshot, never improved his fitness while with the Spurs. Now its a contract year, he finally tones up. Look at any professional sports, players who just get fit or play well in a contract year 90% of the time pack it up again once they get a good contract.
If I were a GM, it would one year contract from here on end for this guy.
I have a question . . . How many horrible gnsf trolls is one person allowed to have? Kori? Nono?
Those machines aren't gonna help with his athleticism or functionality.
Grilled chicken salads at Whataburger...
I miss "Chuck Norris" Blair.
Yep, he should have developed a more consistent jumpshot so that he could have moved to the PF position. Guy was lazy in that he didn't self actualize his potential while he had 4 years to do so with the Spurs. Whataburger should not be a staple for a professional athlete.
Blair is a niche player who thinks he can do it all. His niche is rebounding, and he has a chance if he would go back and focus only on that niche. Otherwise, he will be in Europe within 2-3 years.
that's nothing compared to enes kanter tbh, he still has quite some fat to cut.
Exactly, he thinks he's fast enough to get the steal but he over commits and his knees lacking laterals keep him from getting back into position. Unfortunately for him, he's not physically able to make those steals nearly as much as he thinks he can. Until he realizes that and adjusts his game, he'll always be a minus defender.
Too bad he didn't learn that lesson while he was here. Any other team will let him do what he does, basically a self-perpetuating glass ceiling.
I don't understand the hate for DB around here. Sure his defense was subpar and he could have rebounded better but the guy was playing for peanuts and has no ACLs. He's was 6'6" guy being asked to play center vs. 7 fters. He was passed up by a lot of teams making him an underdog of sorts. It's pretty unfair that everyone has these high expectations of a guy who was picked in the second round.
I think DB played well as a Spur during his tenure here. He could have done more to improve but maybe he just doesn't have it in him to get any better. Maybe his skills are what they are and won't get better no matter how much time he spends at the gym.
Hate, I don't hate the Guy at all. I think he just wasted his opportunities here. He had like 3 20 20 games his rookie year. They guy had alot of potential and if he worked on his jumper, he could have slid to the PF role, which would have suited him better.
But instead he got fatter, teeter totting with this weight and I never heard reports like Splitter/Parker/Green etc where they spent most of their summer with Chip working on their shooting and mechanics.
It's his mentality I didn't like b/c he never wanted to improve himself despite having every opportunity to do just that. Every Spur thus far, even Bonner, has improved their performance year after year except Blair, who actually has regressed since his rookie season. There is a reason the Spurs finally made the Finals again after completely dropping him from the rotation.
