Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
interesting how the delusional faggots upstairs especially skull-1 is spinning this loss on ginoboli....
ginoboli doing the same shit enrique did in game 6 4th quarter down to the final plays, at leasts ginoboli attempted to b lock that shot unlike enrique who wanted OT to pad his empty stats to make it look like he had a legit shot at FMVP by not attempting to block gayray
spurs are lucky that dirk hasnt even awaken yet, just wait and see, wonder whats the excuses will be when dirk awakens...
ps.
i dont think pop has given one of them speeches to go raw into the players ass yet.....seems like the wankers on the team have been brainwashed that its better to live on ur knees then die fightin on ur legs....bending over as usual with the white flag allowing the enemy to not just come in, but come in and go raw into that ass....

Game 4 is gonna be a must win for us because I bet no one wants to come back home with the series being at stake and ourself standing by the cliff (with the series being 1-3 in Mavs favor). It's so sad that the Mavs would've led the 3-0 now if they hadn't choked so bad in game 1, upset imminently ensuing :cry

I thought Dirk had a very decent game. He scored 18 on 50% shooting with 7 rebounds. Of course Monta have it all out-shadowed him with a larger performance, but it's not like he played like complete ass.

I think it's proven the Spurs don't like playing the Mavs. Especially since they got Harris back. Parker could exploit Kidd. And clever move to put Marion on Parker and force Parker to take jumpers.

Last year Parker would've shit on anybody... this season Parker is gonna have problems with everybody. Not taking anything away from Rick and the Mavs, they're doing a great job, but Parker's struggles have been front and center with the Spurs against most teams all season long. You had to wonder if he was saving energy for the playoffs, but it's clear there's something else going on.

He's lost a step no doubt. The younger Parker would've blown by Marion. Even if Marion is backing up. But younger Harris showed younger Parker a good matchup in being a neutralizer. But it's all the attention Dirk gets that is opening up the Mavs offense.
-
Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Nothing to worry about here, Mavs simply hit more shots than the spurs today, and if the spurs are a serious championship team, they will hit more shots than the Mavs in Game 4 and 5 tbh

Parker was great throughout the 2011-2012 season, and he took it to a whole new level in the 2012-2013 season, where he was a legit MVP candidate. This season, he hasn't been as good as either of the last two years. while he was never a stalwart, he's become a defensive liability

rofl he was only a legit mvp candidate in the eyes of morons, which unfortunately is far too many people
parker had no business whatsoever being considered an mvp candidate when hes not even the mvp of his own team.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
I think a lot of people didn't watch Dirk Nowitzki much this year so they don't understand. He's still a great offensive force overall, but the days of just throwing it to him all over the court and him going 1 on 1 and scoring at a highly efficient rate without ever turning it over...well...those days are over. He now almost exclusively is a pick and roll and post player and doesn't even get it at the top of the key anymore (used to be a sweet spot for him) because he can't go by anyone.
So he relies on the pick and roll to get good shots, but the Spurs are taking that away. They are sticking to Dirk without the ball 20 feet from the basket...sometimes with 2 guys...and begging the Dallas guards to take midrange jumpers. I personally think it's a terrible defensive strategy. You simply can't do that with Calderon...and Ellis is a different player now in terms of decision making so he knows when to shoot and when not to. You can probably get away with that on Harris, but Harris has a knack for making things happen when you give him driving lanes.
Pop seems to have a flaw in this area...he just assumes other teams will tighten up and miss shots. And while that has worked for him in the past at times, it's really hurting him right now and it cost him the finals last year in game 7. So I doubt they will continue to play it that way....
So if they keep the defense the same. Dirk will be a pick and role player that doesn't get a ton of great shots.
If they switch it up...then Dirk is going to really have to get it going and make some shots and work his way to the ft line...etc.
Note: copied and pasted this from Insidehoops

I agree he isn't what he used to be, but make no mistake, when he gets in triple threat position out on the wing, he is still a ridiculously deadly scorer, definitely more so than you seem to think. They just don't use it much because there isn't a frequent need for him to do it like in the past. They have a good offense and lots of people who can score in different ways. Also, Dirk is capable of finding ways to score off the ball, while some of the other players (like Ellis, Harris, and VC) aren't. So its more beneficial for team chemistry for Dirk to have less iso's. But most every time he has had a wing iso play ran for him in this series, he scored without much trouble.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Mavs have been playing great, they aren't getting enough credit IMO. Sure, the Spurs role players have struggled so far but the Mavs' counterparts have all played above their head.
Even in Game 3, the Spurs didn't play that badly. Mavs had an answer for the Spurs coming out strong, unlike the Warriors last year. Pretty clear that the Spurs are in a dogfight the rest of the series and I don't think they have the will to recover if they go down 3-1 tbh.

Rick Carlisle is an amazing coach. He is right there with Pop IMO. It is amazing what he does with limited talent, tbh. He gets the most out of his players. A Carlisle coached team tends to be tough in the postseason, so this is no surprise.

I knew a lot of the people in Fan Anbeanario would be high tailing to the nearest cliff to partake in the Viability of Suicide but I didn't think it would be this drastic.
In all honesty, Carter probably misses that shot 8 times out of 10, meaning all would be well in the world, ESPN would be jerking off to some funny Popovich quote, the Spurs would likely be advancing, and the basketball Gods would get Timmy his well deserved 5th ring all the while bringing some much needed happiness to the long suffering Spur fans who have had to endure the futility of this past decade. Not like the sky is falling or anything.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Another TING i pointed out earlier is that the Mavericks appreciate this series more than the Spurs. Not like the Spurs don't want to win, but everytime you are so amped up to get your revenge next year that you just want to fast forward to the Finals and get it on. Pacers are the same way, they are so focused on getting redemption against Miami that playing an Atlanta team represents a huge annoyance. Same with San Antonio. They just want to fast forward to the WCF/Finals already whereas the Dullass Mavpricks, in the words of the great Obstructed_View, view beating the Spurs as their "championship" this year. 2007 Mavpricks had the same scenario against GS.
When you have a team circled on your calendar ahead of time it always comes back to bite you. Whereas Miami has already won 2 in a row, they can just sit back and chill and have fun stomping the Bobcats in the ground since they have nothing to prove. The anxiety of getting back and beating Miami is the issue with Indiana and San Anbeanario.
In mymost humble of opinions

Yep. They look unprepared and uninterested. The Mavs are too well-coached for the Spurs to "turn it on" mid-game. They haven't yet played a full game with urgency, and they won't win another game if that continues.

I expect Dirk to continue to play like shit tbh....... Mavs chances depend on their guard play with Hariis, Calderon, and of course Monta

I hate both teams, and no matter the victor of this series, hope they lose in the next round. But I think I currently hate the Spurs just a little more so hoping to see a Mavs win tonight. Plus, Spur fan meltdowns are always fun.

Have little-to-no faith in the Spurs pulling out a W tonight. Certainly hope I'm wrong, tho'.

Hard to imagine the Spurs losing this one, imo. Of course I hope they do, but it's difficult to fathom, given their great season and all.

The defense has been awful, especially on any player not named Dirk... you can't let guys like Dalembert get a double-double and expect to win...
We'll see what COTY figured out in these two days...
