A ton of flukyness tonight, on both sides of the ball.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
lol Ellis stat padding at the end.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
GG Spurs. Tiago has been an absolute badass this series. Carter is trying to make up for years of choking, so he hitting lots of shots but hopefully the law of averages will kick in.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Pretty good game tonight by San Antonio I think they've found their groove again. Dallas seems to have a different random player go off in every game this series + Dirk actually showing up on offense made it close.
Once they assumingly get by Dallas, I think they take Portland in five.

You shitting me? Dallas hit more flukey shots than Magic's taken dicks, not to mention they survived Dirk's superstar game. Might still go 7 tho.

What was the Spurs flukyness, tbh? Splitter's lay-ups?

Thank god for Devin Harris and Shawn Marion falling back to earth tbh.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Well no sweep and no choking a 2-0, 3-0, or 3-1 lead for my Mavs. I want my Mavs to win but I think their chances of winning game 6 are very slim. Just lost their mojo after game 3. Mark Cuban needs to stop making shitty Shark Tank and get someone that defend the rim and also grab some damn rebounds and put the ball in the hoop. The Spurs have anal raped the Mavs in the paint this series. Pathetic.

uhhh have you watched this series at all?
Wright and Dalembert have done a pretty decent job protecting the rim when given the chance. The Spurs are just exposing Matadirk's defense to death in the pick and roll especially the last two games

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Ginobili has been fuckin the paint and rim on a nightly basis in this series. I'd pick Wright over Dalembert.

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Mavs have been a handful. It could go to 7 but I just want the Spurs to make it past the first round, especially after 6. Spurs have been building a groove lately, so that's good.
-
Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
At least Dejuan is back next game for rim protection.

Both have actually been pretty good when they're in the area. Even Blair was giving Duncan headaches until he went ooga booga on Splitter and got ejected. Problem is that they're usually assigned to Duncan who can make spot up shots if left open. They're just whoring the pick and roll with the other big that Dirk's guarding all night long. Dirk has to guard somebody as long as he's on the floor, and his man is usually the one scoring.

if duncan could hit his jumpers, the offense would click so much better

Dallas could say the same about Dirk and Ellis at times in this series.

not this game, Dirk was hitting everything in the 4th... I feel we finally played above average to survive his shooting and Vince's...

Good observation. Dallas's only real counter to that is to have Duncan's man leave Tim open and force him to shoot that mid-range consistently. Leaving Dirk on the PnR Island is not going to work with the best PnR team in the business.

The Spurs have exposed Dirk's lack of defense more than any team in the NBA. As much as I hate to say it, the Mavs were a little lucky not to draw the Spurs in 2011. As good as Dallas' defense was, they didn't play any team in the playoffs that turned Dirk into a turnstile like SA would have. Dallas had the perimeter defenders and size to counter Durant/Lebron ooga booga'ing into the lane with reckless abandon and the Lakers twin towers (Gasol turning into a cuck bailed out Dirk on defense) so nobody was able to go after Dirk like the Spurs usually do.
Jason Kidd/Dirk pnr defense against Parker/Ginobili makes me cringe although I can't remember if SA had a quality big man outside of Duncan in 11 to use it

Re: San Antonio Spurs (#1) vs. Dallas Mavericks (#8) Playoff Series Thread
Yup - Spurs are just one of the rare teams that will not only run a PnR, but run effectively and over and over and over. They don't ISO much (although Mavs have made them do that more often. But Spurs have adjusted by finding their way into the paint (especially TP/Manu - the Mavs defense works against the bench sans Manu, but lately TP/Manu have done enough). Then when Spurs bigs remembered they can pass and score it became a big issue for Dallas.
Tim's jumper is broke and I would gamble with that option if I were Dallas. Now, it becomes difficult if the Spurs have proper spacing, but it's a counter.

Me neither. I have mad respect for Duncan for what he's still able to do at his age, but this flopping piece of sh*t Ginobili... I can't stand this guy. Same with Bowen when he was playing for the Spurs, that dirty f*cker who put his foot on purpose below jump shooters.

Didn't see a lot of fluky-ness aside from Vince turning back the clock tbh.
