Chuck Cooperstein used to be a good radio talk show guy here in Dallas before he became a shill for the Mavies as their P by P. guy. Gotta feed your family so I get it, but he wouldn't sugar coat stuff and could be objective about all the Dallas teams back in the day.
Thank god no joey.
Get ready to blame the refs if the Spurs lose.
Fuck Salvatore Bennett, at least it's not Joey.
Bennett Salvatore reffing = 50 FTs for the Mavs

Still, Salvatore is a wildcard. As bad as he's fucked the Spurs over in the past, he has done way worse to Dallas.

I would bet both teams fucking hate this assignment today.
Bennett Salvatore is awful. He's worse than Joey Crawford.
Salvatore is awful because he calls a lot of touch fouls. It will be hard for the spurs to play defense due to all the touch fouls he will call.
better than joey. joey hates the spurs and the only good thing about joey is if he is your away game ref, and this is a home game. glad to see him in TOR instead this afternoon.
:lmao spurfan is so stupid sometimes. Salvatore is objectively worse than Joey Crawford for the spurs.
Marc Davis is the worst, tbh....
Actually to be brutally honest Mavs losing in '06 is way worse than 6. The Spurs lost 6 legitimately. The Mavs were straight up robbed of a ring.
Salvatore is the worst news possible for Spurs fan.
Fuck this thread. It's creating excuses for a hypothetical loss. I'm assuming the Spurs are going to win, but if they lose, I don't intend to blame the refs.
The fact that the Mavs were up 2-0 has nothing to do with the fact that they were robbed of a game (game 5 where the heat had a 49 to 25 FTA, although to be very explicit the final FTA total alone does not necessarily indicate foul play either way, but I'm not using the final total as evidence for foul play anyways.)
Just call a spade a spade. This uncle tom bullshit that spursfans pull is hilarious. If there's bad reffing in favor of the spurs' opponent, point it out. If there's bad reffing in favor of the spurs, point it out. Don't look at FTA totals. Just watch the game and make a running tally of "missed calls" (which, admittedly, is necessarily subjective) in favor of team X versus team Y.
Like, the Spurs clearly benefited from corrupt reffing in route to their 07 championship when they played phoenix. I'm fine pointing that out.
Also, to be brutally honest game 6 was reffed in favor of the Spurs (slightly) overall even though we were on the road in Dallas. Everyone wants to focus on the disgraceful vince carter flop, but overall the spurs were the beneficiaries.
Mavs: 26, 28, 26, 27, 25, 23 = 155
Heat: 19, 32, 34, 36, 49, 37 = 207
Game 3
D. Wade: 18 Free Throws (entire Heat team 34)
Entire Dallas team: 26 Free Throws
Margin of victory: Heat by 2
Game 5
D. Wade: 25 Free Throws (entire Heat team 49)
Entire Dallas team: 25 Free Throws
Margin of victory: Heat by 1
Game 6
D. Wade: 21 Free Throws (entire Heat team 37)
Entire Dallas team: 23 Free Throws
Margin of victory: Heat by 3
One wonders if Clipper Nation actually watched that series at all. I have no fucking interest in propping up the Mavs. I hate the Mavs. I hated turtlehead Terry when he played for the Mavs, and I love watching them lose, and even I can fully admit that they were robbed of a ring in '06.
And I have no interest in blindly denigrating the Heat either. The Heat benefited from corrupt reffing in '06. The Heat legitimately beat the Spurs in '13. The Spurs benefited from corrupt reffing in '07 against Phoenix. OKC benefited from corrupt reffing against the Spurs in '12 (Game 6 WCF). The list goes on.
I'm in favor of anything that eliminates bad reffing. I don't give a shit if the net result is that it helps or hurts the spurs in the long run.
