I'd be surprised if he plays more than 5-6 minutes today.
Non-factor
worse than '04 Hedo
The good news is he can't play much worse. So you'd think if he continues to struggle he'll get yanked early.
If Marco plays big minutes today, it means we're probably down double digits and trying to spark a comeback. Parker/Duncan/Leonard probably play 35 minutes apiece and Diaw/Splitter/Green/Ginobili get 30 minutes each, leaving 15 minutes to go around to everyone else including Mills. The big wildcard is if Danny is off, in which case there will be a heavier dose of Mills and Marco.
Danny and Kawhi's minutes should be staggered so that there is always a plus defender on the floor (Danny should match Monta's time on the court). Run some plays to get Danny going early from three and it will open up the game even more for Parker / Duncan and the Manu / Splitter pick-and-roll.
More Danny, less Beli please.
He needs to play defense...it's not his offense that's really missing.
I would expect a normal coach to ride Danny and just give up on Beli for this series. But then, Pop isn't normal. They NEED Beli to break out, and I think he will.
Only Parker/Duncan/Kawhi/Splitter/Green/Manu/Mills/Diaw. The rest is expendable. At least, Errors or Bonner can do a hack-a-Dalembert. Or give an elbow to mouth in Blair.
He's come up short this whole series. One thing is that he's allowed the Mavs strategy to chase him off the 3 pt line. He has to recognize this is the playoffs and he's facing tougher defenses. If he can't shoot with a hand in his face, what good is he since his defense isn't good.?
One thing about Neal last year, he wasn't afraid to shoot the ball in the big show. Bellinelli hasn't shown the trademark confidence of a shooter.
At this point, I'd settle for him just not being god-awful.
Too late to try and get him going this series. It's just baffling that Pop still puts him on Vince rather than Crowder or Marion.
yea this is one of those things where you just pack it up and hope for the opportunity to try again next series. they've done well to take away all his baseline cuts, and they are covering the 3 well in general so beli has been a non factor.
i agree with op.
Lol Marco.
Put Daye in before Marco
looked it up in Basketball Reference. He's only taken 5 three point shots in 7 games. Made 3 but he's too passive and scared to put up his shot. What good is he if he won't shoot the damn ball.
He's got a lot of Bonner in him. But with worse defense. Maybe Much worse.
Benchinelli with a decent game off the bench :tu
Benchinelli played mas o menos tbh Onto the 2nd round :lol
Third string player. Nothing more than this.
5 points. :toast
I really like Mills and Beli, but they need to step up their game now.
Have a feeling Beli will bounce back against the Blazers.
Play it by ear.
Danny Green is starting to look like the guy that can get red hot and put up very nice numbers.
They will need way more guys hitting on all cylinders the rest of the way if they want to make another deep playoff run.
I think Portland is a fine team, but Houston seemed like a tougher matchup for the Spurs.
Don't get me wrong, Portland is really good, but all those wild chuckers in Houston seemed to step up and bother the Spurs during the RS. Plus Howard actually seemed to want to compete this year a little bit and play tougher. Apparently, though, he missed some critical free throws at the end of the game 6.
I hope SAS can slow down LaMarcus and Lillard a little bit......
he should play well since Portland's bench is awful.
Portland's bench may be bad, but they barely play the bench.
hoping the garbage time got his rythmn restarted
