I'm not? Is that a rule? Am I the first poster ever to violate this rule? Could you provide a link to the rules for the site, so I can be careful to not violate one again?

I'm afraid that if we close this shit today, it's gonna be a long 7 days, tbh... :lol

So you're saying you can just enter a thread and claim it sucks without stating why? I mean if you were a poster of merit, I wouldn't question you. But that's not the case, like I said get over yourself. Go post on SpursReport if Spurstalk is too :cry shitty for you :cry. I've never seen you post on this site, probably for good reason. You're probably a shitty poster who spams threads with random throwaway scroll over takes. I'd like you to prove me wrong since you apparently are above everybody else.

Looks like you're also trying to bring brilliant burns back.

I'm trying, but it's hard.

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
This is one of those annoying drive by posts without reading the entire thread. Acknowledging that allows me to refrain from apologizing if this has been already been posted:
Obviously Duncan will be back next year since Parker and Manu are signed as well. I did read the part early on where someone said not even Duncan knows whether it will be two years. I can verify that is correct, because it is common sense.

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
It would be nice if Duncan can squeeze out 2 more years. I cant see him slowing down much more in the next two more years than he already is so barring injury he could still make a difference in the middle. I still remember that old ass 40 year old center Kevin Willis still kicking ass at 40 lol I guess im not ready to think about the day our big three are gone.

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
Tim can play till he is 45

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
sooo what if Timmy dont retire next year?? will he take a even more paycut? dude is still dominating

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
If Tim decides to play another season after this I could see the Spurs agreeing at $10 million for next season.

I actually did this 7-8 years ago and it worked well enough. Bought one of those older Dell computers w/ a 3.0 Ghz P4 and 4GB of RAM. Slapped a 7600GT in it, the case wouldn't even close with it on. Worked just fine. A great $120 dollar "gaming" computer.

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
TD game isn't getting any worse, if Timmy can stay healthy he could play at high level( solid 12/8 game) until he is 45 tbh, but i hope he doesn't play that much...

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
To be honest, with how shitty the league looks, Tim could contend for another 5 years if he wants. Its really up to him

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
If Tim and/or Manu decides to play on another season, Pop and RC should start the conversation like this:
"Look guys, you've both got blank cheques for your service to the franchise. However we have these free agent targets (Marc Gasol, Aldridge etc...) that we're looking at. You are our priority and if either of you wants another sizeable contract then you'll get it, but if we can land one of these star guys, we'll need the cap room for a max deal. So here's the options...
A) We get Gasol/Aldridge/whoever, re-sign Green and Timmy/Manu split the room exception and a minimum deal.
B) We get Gasol/Aldridge/whoever, let Green walk, pay Timmy a $7m(ish) deal and give Manu the Room exception.
C) We don't bring in a free agent, re-sign Green and Timmy/Manu get another year on similar size contracts or more.
Let them make the decision.

If Tim and Manu return, you punt next summer, pay Kawhi, and move the "window" to 2017.
The problem with your scenario is what is known as a cap hold. You would have to sign Tim and Manu FIRST before even shopping to reduce their cap figure from the hold amount to whatever salary they get.

Not so. The whole point is to come to an arrangement with Tim/Manu, get their blessing for what they are happy with and go from there. Their cap holds don't matter because if they are willing to take the Room Exception/Minimum we don't need their Bird Rights so we waive their cap holds.
In fact, regardless of what happens in each of the three scenarios I presented we can waive their cap holds. We'll either have the cap space to bring them back or exceptions after signing a free agent if they are willing to take the tiny exceptions. Again, signing them to cheap exceptions would only be done with their blessing.
The main stumbling block is actually Danny. Let's say Timmy/Manu were unwilling to take the Room Exception and Minimum respectively ($2.5m/$1.5m) but Manu was willing to take the Room and Timmy wanted $7m-ish. We would be left with a decision to either chase a max free agent or bring back Danny and chase a mid-tier player with around $10m in cap. I see no reason why Danny would be willing to wait around as a free agent unless he got a cast iron guarantee he would be re-signed, which would be impossible if we wanted Gasol. Therefore we'd have to choose between chasing a big name or bringing back Green.
To bring back the same group AND add a max guy would require Tim/Manu taking tiny deals for their final year, perhaps unlikely but that's why you ensure you speak to them first and get an agreement on how little they'd be willing to play for. If $2.5m and the minimum is too little, which is absolutely might be, we choose between chasing a free agent and possibly losing Green.

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
I think it's true. A barista at Starbucks told me Tim came in and he asked him how much longer he would play. Tim said "I shouldn't say but I'll have TWO venti skinny strawberries and cream Frappuccino's".

I think room exception/minimum is a pipe dream, and frankly insulting. After DRob in 2001, who threatened to sign an MLE deal with the NYK after such a proposal, I think it would even be a non-starter with the Spurs themselves.

Re: Duncan: I have 2 more good years left.
If TD/Manu decide to come back for one more year... you pay them for what they are worth. Period. TD is still among the big men elite, while Manu is still great for the Spurs system. If they can come back for collectively less than $10 million it would be a fair number (although still less than their performance value).
