He's a unrestricted free agent this summer, and he's only gonna be 37... what do you guys think? He's probably going to be looking for one more run at a ring, and we need a backup to fill in the other 20-25 mins Kawhi doesn't play...

:lolOnly 37
We have enough shots to go around, that's for sure, unless Patty is in.
He's still one of the best defenders in the NBA. He might be worth looking at if the price is right.
He'd be a good option to replace Splitter in the SL. Then the Spurs could finally get an athletic PF to out next to Tim.
I could see Cuban going all out to get Pierce
Prob goes to Miami lol
Only if he signs for the minimum and leaves his darling Garnetta in Brooklyn.
Only if KG is willing to throw the ball back to Tim during shootaround. They're a package deal tbh.
Subtle jab at Pop :lol
He'll go to the Heat to suck LeBron's dick just like his former teammate.
He'd be a nice piece to reload with for one season.
Of course, if Duncan retires it's a moot point.
Yeah, if the Spurs don't blow it up, sure.
:lol
But seriously, I'd rather have Trevor Ariza.
He'll probably go to the Clippers.
No to Pierce. We need younger players who could play for a few more years. Pierce is on his way out just like Timmy..
He did a bang up job against the Heat with that low budget roster he's playing with.
I'd take him over Belinelli, but not both, tbh..
We need one more athletic, tall wingman, tbh.
Where is the "we don't need another old guy " crew at?
El nono stepping up his troll game.
Replace Turnobili with THE TRUTH would be good.
Get KG also. Although he scoring 2 pts, 4 rebs like-a-perkins, but he can't be worst than error.
If he wants a chance to ring, he'd sign up. Remember when Glenn Robinson and Tony Massenburg joined up for the free ring? I wouldn't mind Pierce on our roster as a bench guy, certainly couldn't be bad at all. Vince Carter proves that older superstars still have a place in the NBA off of the bench.
Pierce is not a small market guy...he would sign with the Heat before us......
Parker
Manu
Pierce
KG
Timmy
for one last run?? lmao
Rambo>>>>>>>>>>PP
Only if that other dude agrees to bring his talentz to South Tejas.
and is Jet still available?
Great player, hope the Spurs sign him.
I totally agree. He primarily would be backing up Kawhi and will only be playing 15-20 minutes a game. This isn't like the '08 -'10 Spurs were the Spurs had old guys starting and old guys backing them up. The old starters are backed up by young guys and vice versa.
Of all the available SF, Pierce would be my #1 choice as a signing. Good defense and clutch shooting, that is exactly what you want coming off the bench.
PP would be a decent pickup and if they are a package deal and will sign for the vet min, then bring in KG. Baynes needs a backup.
On the cheap he would be a great option, but who does he replace? It's always good to have shooters, but where does he fit in the rotation?
IMO, Joseph wouldn't get any minutes and Manu minutes would be reduced even more. that would give Pierce like 20 minutes a game. Spurs play a 10 man rotation in the season and Joseph would be the guy to be dropped from the rotation.
I believe Patty will resign with the Spurs, but if not, well Joseph will just replace Patty minutes and Pierce would pickup the slack.
No more old dudes.
Now that we've seemed to have moved into serious territory with this thread, I'll say no. The last thing the Spurs need is another player who Pop would play instead of Leonard or Green. A player like Marion (a legitimate small-ball four option) is one thing. But at this point, the team does need another player who wants the ball like Pierce does, especially one of such fading ability.
Yeah Manu and Pierce would be a bad combination anyway... I also think that the off season strategy in general depends too much on what's gonna happen in the WCF to really predict anything at this point...
Someone actually suggested the Jet, the 2nd most hated player by Spurs fans next to Karl Malone.
My take on Pierce is that he would need to come the SA with the mindset Finley did. No more ISO ball. But the fact that Pierce is an excellent passer, good defender, and excellent shooter, I think he would fit in nicely with the Spurs.
If the Spurs do make a go at him, I am sure they would tell him exactly the role he would have before he would signed with them. This probably is not going to happen, but I wouldn't be against it if it did.
fits the spurs m.o. tbh. they like to hire players during their twilight. wasn't shaq considering a move here at one point, or was that just a thread I read?
He's only 37. That's to young for the spurs. Maybe in a couple of years when he's 39 and in his prime the spurs will be able get him... provided he's gotten over himself.
Nono with the goods, this thread will probably go 6+ pages
On the real wish he was with us this season. He's a baller even at his old age but his pride and best buddy garnett will never get him to SA. Next.....
He's going to join the Clippers, tbh..
can we trade belinelli for him?
Michael Finley 2.0
Pierce is done. Dude would come in and demand more minutes. Pass..
I assume you're joking, right?
Pierce was one my favorite players growing up. If hes wiling to play limited minutes and basically be a great locker room guy and help groom Kawhi then Im all for it. I just dont see him accepting that role.
PP doesn't fit with the Spurs tbh.
Um...no thanks on Pierce. Hes heading to Miami.
No, dear god please no. Stop it.
If he can come cheap, he can contribute to the Spurs.
I think we should trade for Andrea Bargnani.
We don't have someone that can shoot a similar FG% to Russell Westbrook.
No, thanks. Another Richard Jefferson with a little better passing.
Bring in young blood if you want to bring in anyone.
I think Vince Carter for the minimum is more likely.
For vet min should be fine. In any worst case scenario, can just inactivate him
No. Huge difference.
I understand he only has one championship, but Pierce is a HOFer and a proven winner. He has made many clutch shots during his career. He can get to free throw lines and can make 3-pt shots as well. And he defended LeBron and KB well during their deep playoff-run years.
I would be more keen on adding someone like CJ Miles from the Cavs as a Kawhi backup than Pierce, who I reckon is done.
Is Allen retiring? I know Battier did.
let...I don't think we need another HOFer on this team. Actually, I don't think we need anything that messes with the Chemistry of this team.
We just saw one of the best basketball exhibitions I've ever seen in the NBA. We don't need anything "right now." Seriously. Especially another "HOFer." If you want to bring in anyone...bring someone young for the future.
Maybe as a last resort. And I don't think Pierce wants to be anyone's backup. He might be Clippers bound to join Rivers.
Spurs should continue their youth movement. Adding aging veterans should only be a last resort or an addition that would clearly help the Spurs.
No old former superstars please. Better to spend money on guys like Diaw, Mills and that sort, guys who never got a chance to shine.
Yea. I prefer the Spurs draft a ready-to-contribute player in the draft instead of taking another oversea prospect and keeping him for 2-3 years.
Because they never seems to come over. Look at Luis Scola and I believe Tiago was the last oversea prospect to come over and it was in 2010.
Pierce is not a good team player, no thanks.
AK47 if he opts out of the Nets.
