Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
He's been even worse in the playoffs, at 40% (although it's only been 10 FTA)...
With Abaka going down, he's likely to get some solid minutes out there... would Hack-A-Adams be a good strategy as a momentum killer?

Absolutely, and I wouldn't be shocked if Pop employs it. He's not much of a threat offensively but he can beast on defense if given the chance. Turn him into a liability and force Brooks to shorten his rotations even further.

Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Adams can alter and block shots like Ibaka.
He needs to be taken out asap.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Hes definitely a wild card in this series for the Thunder. Reminds me of a bigger Najera whos main purpose in his NBA career it seems like is to get under the skin of opposing players and play a really physical style of basketball. Whats mind boggling though is how he gets away with it. Hes not as dumb as he looks. He knows how to get away with that physical style of play.
Hacking him could probably get into his head a little bit, especially if he starts missing free throws. I would just try to get him into foul trouble though. No playoff experience should do him in.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Not afraid of Adams at all
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Shouldn't even matter. Thunder without Ibaka have 3 players that can score double digits. Spurs have 9. Westbrook, Durant, and Jackson could all score 30 a game and they'd still have to find 20 points from fisher, butler, and ???

Welcome back.
Haven't seen you disuss and actual basketball in months, only stupid trolling.
Why a poster of your knowlege level lowers himself to such a level, I'll never know.
And yes: fouling Adams would be a great momemtum killer.
You want freebies so bad, hmm, RefKC?
Then have some!!
With your worst free throw shooter.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
LOL a scrub like Adams in Spursfan's head :lol

You can bet Pop is already well aware of this information.

Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Adams is an inexperienced rookie.. Duncan can have him in foul trouble every game this series with his bag of trick if he wants.... OKC better be smart enough to match him up with Splitter or start Collison..

he killed the clippers last night

they did that to Splitter in 2012 in game 2, as early as the 2nd quarter if i remember correctly, was a giant momentum killer for the spurs even though they won the game. Win with grace, win ugly, win whatever way you want, Just Win Baby

Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Not boring hack a player tactics. Spurs are boring.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Yes do it, punishes the thunder for being in the bonus, and payback for pulling that shit in 2012

Just texted Boylen, just in case, tbh

Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
The good thing about using the Hack tactic against OKC is you get an opportunity every quarter as they are usually in the penalty at the 5 minute mark, tbh :lol

Yep...him and Perkins are goons. Like I mentioned in another thread, I can almost guarantee there will be some stupid double technicals given due to events instigated by Adams or Perkins.

Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Scott Brooks is too much of dumbass to play Adams high minutes even if he's killing it, I expect a lot of Collison and small ball instead. Lets hope Pop doesn't adjust his lineup to there's but forces there hand.

I agree, heard it over and over from this dude. He is not even a fan IMO, just another LA troll.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
I don't know if they should go Hack-A-Adams, but whenever the guy looks like he's about to get an open layup/dunk, foul the shit out of him and send him to the line. I would love to see Baynes go up against Adams in the post. Two big dudes just beating the crap out of each other...
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
A couple of Baynes fouls would be fine by me.

Collison fouls a lot, and wouldn't be surprised to see him in foul trouble. Perkins is too slow for small ball lineups. It would be nice if Tiago and Boris are aggressive. I think Adams will have to play a good chunk of minutes this series simply out of necessity.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
hack a adams works if they are killing us with a small ball lineup and fast break ops.
slows the game down and he is a low % shooter so its a valid strategy.
-

That is very possible and I would welcome that.. I have a feeling though that Brooks will luck into a small ball lineup and Pop will oblige him and screw up rotations. Something like Durant at the 4 and Collison or Perry Jones at the 5. I think we stack up better if we stay traditional and they rotate bigs but if they try to stretch out the floor it'll open it up for there shooters.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Knowing our luck he will go 15-15 at the line and only miss 2-3 all series.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Lol you guys are hilarious.. Adams is the least of all your worries
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Hack-a-Adams will work until one of the refs grants Westbrook 3 free throws instead...
-

young and dumb, will hopefully get in foul trouble
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
Spurs can get revenge for the hack a splitter that cost them the playoffs two years ago.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
I guess it might be a bad idea to foul him as everyone else on that team shoots 98% from the line, so being over the limit may be bad unless it is the end of a quarter.
-

Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
I could see Baynes on Adams, and if he fouls out? No biggie.
I could also see Baynes on Perkins. I wold LIKE to see Baynes on Perkins. Just for one or two plays…that's all it would take.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
I think it would be called attack-a-adams, assault-a-adams, or accost-a-adams

I actually and honestly didn't know about this limitation. I'll try to find one without the nipple showing.

No, that's fine, leave it. If nipple can be seen at the Super Bowl, then one nipple can darn well be ok in here.
:p:

I'll be disappointed if you do...pls don't :cry

Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
They still have Collison, too. I would imagine crappy Scotty Brooks giving him the bulk of Ibaka's minutes to him. After he loses a couple games, he'll play Adams after everyone asks him about it.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
It all depends on whether the refs are going to call the fouls on Adams. They really let him get away with more against the Clippers.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
We will use it to muck up any offensive rhythm Westbook and Durant will build up tbh.

I thought the Spurs did a great job of not giving anything easy to him tonight and sending him to the line, which paid off (1-4 from the line).

Could be a viable strategy in Game 3 when the Spurs are sure to be in the penalty at some point. I would like to see it used during the 3rd quarter, particularly if we are leading, because the 3rd ALWAYS seems to be the Spurs downfall in OKC.
-
Re: Steven Adams is a 58% FT shooter...
when we were only up 5 I was begging for a hack-a-Adams, thank god it didn't happen though
