If Ibaka is definitely out for the series.
He's out for the first two games as he's not even traveling with the team to SA but it wouldn't necessarily surprise me if he made some sort of miraculous return later in the series... Like David Lee did last year.
I'd be more inclined to believe it if they used the "out indefinitely" tag instead of declaring him out for the playoffs. Presti seems to err on the side of caution tbh.
When they announced it i was not convinced either. for all we know it could just be a strategy to fool the spurs.
This is good. This means we are going balls on the wall. Take no prisoners. FTT. Sweeps these mofos. Sick and tired of listening to Chris Russo saying that the Thunder will sweep the Spurs even without Ibaka.
It's the western conference finals. Of course the spurs are going balls to the walls. They are hungrier than any team in the NBA for another championship. The fuck..
Why would Abaka not travel with the team if he's out for the playoffs? Unless he's getting surgery what's so hard about sitting on the bench and cheering your guys on? Him not traveling for these first two games really does make it sound like they're trying to rehab for a return in Game 3.
The saying is "balls to the wall".
Apple products and their auto spelling tbh
You were closer than the dude that said "balls on the wall".
Come on Spurs, keep your eye on the tiger.

cia scotty tbh
good attitude from Parker et al. Just prepare like he's fully healthy.
I'm with Tony, they are not to be trusted. Especially their coaches. OKC and Presti are telling their players to go "hit" someone (see Adams interview). Ibaka is quite well known for hitting people in the nuts, so he is invaluable to them. I never like to see anyone injured, but if it means one of our guys not getting punched in the nuts, then I'll glad to see him out.
Parker and conspiracy theory? Nah
Both players go out of their respective game without visible evidence they were injured. Replays of Ibaka's injuries didn't show much. Nigga just looked towards the bench, waved his hand and said, "take me out, coch". Same could be said for Parker. First I thought the niggz had to leave a shit, but then Buford and Casey Kasem followed in pursuit to the locker room and shit appeared to get real.
Ibaka's call for help from the trainers during GM6 reminded me of luhbrown's explanation to Craig Sager for switching his jersey number from 23 to 6, both looked scripted as hell. "Um, yeah, I've been thanking bout' it lately [[The fuck you have, nigga!]] and what I'mmaru, I thank I'm gon change jersey number next year... to honuh MJ and shit." IIRC, jimmy told Sager he'd change his number after a game in miami.
Would the league's invisible guiding hand have anything to do with it? I'm not sure. But it does set the stage for an interesting series. Thus far, I think the new jew's doing a sterling job with the league.
Good mindset. If he does return hopefully he's noticeably hobbled. Without full use of his African abilities he may just end up being a liability.
Calf injuries are no joke I doubt he plays
I haven't been convinced by the news surrounding Ibaka's injury either. Most of the articles on the subject use the wording "expected to miss the remainder of the playoffs" and only Presti has made any official statements on it. Nothing from Brooks, or his teammates. Just a lot of "it's unfortunate" and "we'll deal with it" from Presti.
I'm not sold so I'm glad the players aren't either. Just means they'll have the accelerator on the floor.
I wouldn't put it past those thunder bastards either. I'm glad we're approaching the series with a healthy Isucka in mind. Fuck that nut-punching faggot.
A lot of shady stuff going on here. Who knows maybe they are giving him a ton of pain killer drugs so he can comeback.
Bring that dick-punching bitch on the floor, I'd rather be able to beat them at full-strength.
you can tell how focused the spurs are..
I hate Ibaka so much
Btw, per rotoworld.com regarding Serge Ibaka's injury:
"General manager Sam Presti said Serge Ibaka is "unlikely" to be back in time for the NBA Finals.
His Grade 2 strain is to the plantaris muscle in his calf, so the tearing in that region seems likely to keep him out for a while since it's to a less bulky muscle to his calf. Ibaka could miss time with the Spanish national team due to the injury, according to Presti. OKC is in a tight spot here and their rotation is basically back at square one. Ibaka and Russell Westbrook played together almost the entire time they were together, so Scott Brooks has his hands full. Nick Collison and Steven Adams will have to step it up. May 17 - 7:23 PM"
i think this team will go balls on the wall this series tbh
One, the injury he has doesn't require surgery. Two, he tore (rupture his muscle) to in deep muscle (flexor) in his leg. This muscles is more crucial to running and jumping than the exterior calve muscles. Ibaka is done. Coming back in this series would, one be stupid, as he could completely tears his muscle which would be detrimental to his long-term health and his career, and two, if he did, it would be more beneficial to the Spurs than the Thunder.
Ibaka is done. Just like Westbrook last year, OKC is not going to risk the health of one of its young stars over a Playoff series. Westbrook could of played last year, but he would have risk completely tearing his ligament. Playing with injuries that could go from bad to really really bad isn't worth it considering Ibaka and Westbrook have 8 year left to be in their prime.
I thought the same, honestly. I predict he'll be out for the first few games but return when it seems like they need him the most. I can't say for sure, though. Glad to see they are preparing regardless.
Or maybe he is truly out for the whole series. Let's get them done in 4 or 5 so we don't risk the chance of him coming back at full strength tbh.
The only way he's NOT out is if they are actually lying about his condition. If he has the deep muscle tear where the calf attaches to the bone, he's OUT.
Ball on the wall and get refuel! GSG!
I sure hope the spurs have their balls on the walls tonight! GSG!
There is either some serious trickery afoot...or none at all.
My money is on the latter.
If he travels. Bayne will lean on him for 48 minutes.
I wonder if Brooks dares to play Durant at the 5 at all this series. How would pop respond?
David Aldridge on TNT said Ibaka is definitely out for the rest of the playoffs.
