And he knew he was going to be traded before this happened, it's not like he could stay if they signed someone. He made a big deal out of nothing so he could feel like the victim.

Sure Lin under perform.
Sure the Rockets doesn't have to care about how he feels.
Sure Lin is getting paid regardless.
Sure Lin will be traded soon.
But those aren't the issues. The issue is how the Rockets will have a hard time attracting integral role players from this point forward, and that anybody who is not named Harden or Dwight will be treated as disposable pieces (actually even they could be treated as such).
Keep in mind that the Rockets put in major effort to get Lin in the first place, and now that Lin is not a major star, they are treating him like trash. Future free agents will look at it, and think to themselves whether they want to play for an organization that doesn't seem to put any effort in developing a player into a real system, but rather would just throw someone in the fire and see if they pan out.
Nobody likes to be treated like trash, and there is a certain amount of pride in all of us, especially when you are talking about professional athletes.
It also sends the message that the Rockets do not look out for their players as they are simply disposable parts. It's true that most organizations are actually that way, but the Rockets just took it to another level by publicly humiliating one of their players.
So Rockets players, you better look out for your best interest instead of the teams', because the team sure isn't going to look out for you.

Beverley didn't complain.
I don't think he is coming. But this whole controversy is stupid.
So? It was still public on Dwight's twitter. They did however make these photoshops when they presented it in the meetings last summer

lol ok.
And this whole valued human beings bit is weak. It's not how it works in the corporate world. You are paid to produce. If you don't produce, you are fired. Doesn't matter how many kids you have to feed. The successful ones get the parties when they leave.
djohn2oo8 as on point as his sigs.
Fuck tactfulness. It's all about the bottom line.
Also, since we are talking about professionalism, no one brought up the time McGrady was about to be traded for Vince Carter, then Tmac hopped on twitter announcing he was going to have Microfracture knee surgery when he didn't need it so the trade wouldn't happen.
This is failed logic.
Just because Beverley didn't complain didn't mean it was a smart thing for Rockets management to do.
It's like saying Kobe got off scotch free after raping an unattractive hotel worker (except a $4M ring and the settlement out of court), so it's OK for NBA players to go around and start raping unattractive hotel workers.
He's being coddled because of his race, sure, but you have to understand Lin was brought in by Houston for the very same reason. His race. He was a huge marketing piece to appease the leftover Asian fan base from Yao's era. don't pretend his signing and ridiculous contract wasn't a giant Chinese-related marketing move). Ever since they got Harden, rather than the fan-favorite marketing star he was set up to be, he's been the teams scape goat.
It is standard practice with every team in the NBA.
