Also from OrangeBloods, DE Erick Fowler should be officially visiting UT on January 16th.
This is somewhat encouraging.

It is almost safe to say Tulsa’s Sterlin Gilbert will be Texas’ new offensive coordinator.
No, we are not predicting there will be a fourth candidate who will emerge on Friday. We are not expecting Texas coach Charlie Strong to withdraw his offer at any moment. From what we can tell, Gilbert should be wearing burnt orange pretty soon.
Nevertheless, this might be remembered as one of the wildest coaching searches Longhorn fans have ever seen. The moment Longhorn observers are ready to close the book and move on, it seems like another unexpected chapter is added. Reporting this story has been difficult for everyone who follows this football team – not just the Orangebloods staff – because the unexpected continually occurred.
The majority of us expected TCU’s co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie to take this job. He was viewed as the top candidate several weeks before the season ended. After Texas defeated Baylor in the season finale, we expected Strong to immediately sit down with Cumbie and have a contract hammered out very soon. Our sources believed Cumbie’s hiring could be announced this past Monday.
Strong did meet with Cumbie on Sunday, and Cumbie flew into Austin with his wife on Monday. He received a contract offer during that visit, and Cumbie was given time to decide.
As most of us know, Cumbie took his time, and eventually turned down the Longhorns on Wednesday.
However, while Cumbie was contemplating his options, Strong decided to contact his second choice – Gilbert.
Before Cumbie turned down the offer, Gilbert met with Strong on Wednesday morning. The meeting went so well, sources indicated to OB that it appeared Gilbert would be the next UT OC barring any last-minute turns. From what we were told, Gilbert believed he had the job, and was ready to become the new offensive coordinator.
That was until Cal offensive coordinator Tony Franklin interviewed for the job on Thursday in Austin.
Right now, we are still waiting for Gilbert’s deal to be finalized. Even though we believe Gilbert will eventually be named Texas’ offense coordinator, this week has taught us to wait until all the Is are dotted and Ts are crossed.
No matter what, everyone within the program understands they must win next season in order to retain their jobs. The search may not be going how many envisioned, but ultimately, Strong is conducting the most important coaching pursuit the way be prefers. If Texas wins next season, the search will be viewed like Strong’s recruiting – starts slow, but finishes strong. If the team is not successful, this search will be just one more thing used against him by his critics.
For now, we are waiting for Gilbert to sign that contract to enter the safe zone. (Richardson)
This should put an end to the OC search, on to recruiting guys.
Per 24/7, S Devin Studstill of Palm Beach Gardens, FL will make his commitment on Tuesday, December 15th.
He is considered a Notre Dame lean, but he'll be in Austin this weekend for an official visit.

Like 6-5 or what? It's more than the final score. We could have been 6-5 this year but it would not have mattered imo. We were so horrible at times it was flat out embarrassing. So if we go 8-3, with some lucky wins and 3 blow out suckage losses like Iowa State, Notre Dame TCU this year, all is well? Not for this fan. We must be competitive immediately and get better. Then you can pick the record it takes...
24/7 saying Coach Gilbert will not be bringing in Tulsa OL coach Matt Mattox as previously expected.
He will bring in Arizona State OL coach Chris Thomsen or Temple High School head coach Mike Spradlin.
Spradlin worked under Briles at Houston and Gilbert used to be Spradlin's OC at Abilene Cooper.

We have a freshman all American that Wickline... did not really develop... ? I hate to lose good teachers. This teaching/recruiting "I gotta have my own guys" stinks.
So what is the word on Wickline (since we grabbed him with baggage)? He has to go where he has buddies or what?

Potentially great news for UT.
Per Scout, QB Shane Buechele is on campus and already had a 45-minute conversation with Strong.

BREAKING: Sources tell us Sterlin Gilbert has turned down the Texas OC position, will stay with TU.
Too much pressure for him. I don't blame him.
Let's be honest. If he doesn't get things turned around in one season, then Strong probably gets fired and he's out of a job like that.
Just make Traylor OC.
they're trying to fuck charlie over, man
Omg we are a fucking dumpster fire of bonfire sized proportions.
