Quartney Davis said Norvell has reached out to him, and Davis is definitely interested. With the new OC in, I'm expecting him to go after shiftier wideouts for his offense. So Texas may prefer Davis over Lil'Jordan at this point.

— St. Augustine (La.)defensive tackle D’Andre Christmas-Giles plans to announce his decision on National Signing Day. Christmas-Giles made a visit to Texas this month, and the Longhorns are high on his list along with TCU and LSU.
— I exchanged messages with Brendan Ferns’ father. He said it’s getting late in the process, but that he and his son would be interested in Texas if they get in contact. But the Ferns family hasn’t heard from the staff in about a month. As mentioned yesterday, the four-star prospect could be an option at inside linebacker.
— Nacogdoches safety Brandon Jones will make an official visit to Arkansas next month, according to a report from Richard Davenport. Jones is set to see Texas on January 15 and Auburn on January 29.
— Beaumont Central running back Devwah Whaley will “likely” make an official visit to Miami next month. Remember, Whaley committed to new Miami coach Mark Richt when he was at Georgia. Whaley will also visit Texas next month.
— Four-star 2017 Wylie East running back Eno Benjamin named Iowa his early leader. Benjamin does not hold an offer from Texas, but he is a prospect the Longhorns are keeping tabs on. Benjamin visited Texas over the summer.
According to Taylor Hamm of 247Sports, "Texas A&M is the leader to land the graduate transfer Trevor Knight from OU.

@gkketch: Per @AnwarRichardson, UT is not interested in former A&M QB Kyler Murray, locked in on 2016's Shane Buechele and 2017's Sam Ehlinger

last year the UA game and the AAA game really propelled Texas forward. This year with so many kids pushing back their commitment to signing day, it means Texas will either come away looking really good or have a very small class.
Quotes from LB Jeffrey McCulloch of Aldine Davis (24/7):
“They (Texas) could use me immediately,” McCulloch said. “As soon as I step on campus, they see me playing as a freshman in the role Malik (Jefferson) was in this year.”
“I plan to get a little bit northern (for remaining official visits)," he said. "I might hit the northwest, maybe far east. I don’t know yet. Texas just because it’s farther than A&M. I can drive to A&M. I can drive to Texas as well, but A&M’s closer.”
“We (McCulloch and his family) just want to sit back and wait,” McCulloch said. “We’ll see how the bowls play out and see what coaching shake-ups happen and go from there.”
“There’s no doubt I see them (Texas) going back to the national championship," McCulloch said. "When what is in place happens, national championship team easily.”
Per OrangeBloods, JUCO DT Handsome Tanielu says he is probably going to stick with his original plan and commit to BYU.
Since he is an early enrollee and because the dead period doesn't end until January 14th, he would have very little time to visit UT.
That was a long shot anyways. Texas really needs to land one of Giles or Taylor to at least make this a salvagable DT class. Getting both would be great, but I will settle for one. Shit, LSU can't take all the DTs can they? Surely Giles sees they have Alexander and Logan on board and are pursuing Blacklock.
Maybe Marcel S. Will join the the class and Mike Williams doesn't get accepted to Stanford. I would never root for something like that to happen to a kid, but I'm considering making an exception in Williams case.
2017 QB Jaylon Mascorro of Refugio has committed to Houston:
