Traylor is a great hire. Gives the Horns a nice East Texas pipeline.

They are also saying Brick Haley, former DL coach for LSU, is currently in Austin interviewing with Strong.
Haley would be a nice hire

I look at the Maestro of the Giovanni and say to myself, good kid, moving on and staying in school to get his degree.
I say this to myself while typing it on a message board.

Article states Mastro started 7 games in 2014 season, so yes he was in the mix....

I always wonder how much these guys know about coaching a position in a certain offensive scheme. Or is that just window dressing to recruiting?

Nine career starts for Mastro, according to that article.
I don't believe Parker ever played any meaningful minutes. Victim of a lot of talent at the WR position.

Scout saying Strong and other coaches are having dinner with the new DL coach right now and we should have an announcement as early as tomorrow.

Re: 2016 Texas Longhorns Recruiting Thread
Mastrogiovanni was god awful. Got passed up on the DC by true freshman Josh Walker during the middle of the year last season. Our LB depth is pretty bad right now but he was unlikely to be a contributor.

Yeah, I know he played but my point was he sucked and was on his way to being replaced. No way was he going to fit into the mold of the LB Chavis prefers.

Re: 2016 Texas Longhorns Recruiting Thread
Speaking of LB's, roquan smith never signed his letter of intent with UCLA and us still wavering.

East Texas is pretty tight knit. He's well respected in this entire area.

It'd be cool to see a pipeline record of these high school coaches turned college coaches.

An odd hire because there aren't any players on college radars yet? Since when has that been the basis for a coaching hire at the collegiate level? That makes no sense at all. Gilmer always produces good players won't be long before some come about.

dyoungScout: #Auburn #ArizonaState and #Texas have now offered 2016 Iowa Western CC WR Taj Williams @WVWilkerson @DevilsDigest http://t.co/0KMCWuCsuZ

Right. Create a pipeline to where there are no players currently on the radar.
whatever.

More confusing coaching search info...
Scout saying Strong is going to interview two additional candidates for both the DL and TEs position and a decision should be made by this weekend.

Re: 2016 Texas Longhorns Recruiting Thread
OrangeBloods reporting Jeff Traylor of Gilmer will make an announcement on his future tomorrow morning.
Most of the sites also saying everything went very well with Brick Haley the past two days.

Re: 2016 Texas Longhorns Recruiting Thread
24/7 reporting OL JP Urquidez will be in Austin on the 28th for Junior Day.
He's also moved back to Copperas Cove after living in Maryland for a little while.
