**Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
Yes, the SuperBowl was less than 3 weeks ago, but we are already kicking off into the offseason.
Coaching staffs have been filled, the combine is in session, and teams are officially able to apply the franchise tag to players (they have until March 2) and are probably furiously negotiating to avoid resorting to that.
Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas are fully expected to stay with their current teams, the rest of the big name free agents are primed to hit the market...
Ndamukong Suh, Justin Houston, Randall Cobb, Greg Hardy, Mike Iupati, Julius Thomas, DeMarco Murray, Byron Maxwell, Jerry Hughes, Terrence Knighton, Jordan Cameron, Torrey Smith, Jason Pierre-Paul, Darren McCourty, Brian Bulaga are among the big names that come to mind.
So far the only notable move has been Larry Fitzgerald restructuring his deal to stay in Arizona.

Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
I've never seen anywhere where a guy who has accomplished what he has in such a short time gets so little respect. What is this really about? So he plays on a great team, so have tons of great/HOF QB's.
What more does the guy have to do? He is the most succesful third year QB in history, that isn't enought?
Amazing~~~~~~~~

Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
Q: Could your approach to free agency change. Last year you needed volume. This year you’ve got a foundation and could you concentrate money on one or two as opposed to getting a bunch?
Reggie McKenzie: I'm going to try and go after good players. I Don't think last year, I felt like we need more role players. Now we're looking for some guys who can come in and be impact (players). Be starters. More so. So in volume, that way, I'm looking for less volume that way. I don't need as many backup players. We need to get stronger. We're going to go after some real players.
translation: yeah, i fucked up in free agency last year. gna go after bigger names this time around

There's a possibility we get Thurmond back. Although, if there's one position we're really good at drafting, it's DB. And keep in mind this was Simon's first real season seeing the field. He was hurt and didn't get extensive practice reps at the minimum. He even didn't see action this year until several games in. So while everyone has written him off, he has the ability to improve as he sees more reps. BB wrote his own ticket out of the program.

The Bills have about 31 mil in cap space (without making any cuts), and since there aren't really an FA qb's, i'm guessing they'll look to address those positions you mentioned. might also look into a running back with Spiller probably leaving and Fred Jackson continuing to get up there.

Thought you guys were trying to sign McCown, but it seems the deal fell through. What happened?
It's probably for the best tbh...

Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
bills are a lock to sign hoyer imo. Mccourty should stay, i hope, but being a pats fan in the offseason, you never know. In the end i think the biggest story, is Julius Thomas. If they can't resign him, the afc is even more wide open.

Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
For the Chargers I would like some type of offensive lineman and Dan Williams to start with, in addition to resigning people like Dunlap and Flowers.
-
Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
This is why a team in London wouldn't work, free agency. Who is moving their family to England or leave them? How many single guys do we see at 28ish?
As far as my Niners go, we need a speed receiver. A guy who can scare defenses, we haven't had that since Owens.
I do buy signing proven vets over the draft.
-
Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
Wilson expected to take less money in exchange for having a fully guaranteed contract :wow
as for the raiders, they have all the room in the world to offer anything to anybody. iupati and cobb would fill big needs offensively. defensively, need linemen and a middle linebacker. Suh has hinted that he'd go to the highest bidder, but it still sounds like he's staying in detroit. Oakland is heavily expected to pursue and land Terrance Knighton. possible MLB's include Malauga, Nate Irving

Nope, just know about Turbin and how he's not the huge down grade most think he'd be. And yes he is faster than Lynch.

Who the fuck cares that Turbin is faster than Lynch when he's nowhere near as good as Lynch? For the millionth time, faggot, speed =/= football skill.

Do you work at being stupid? So tell me faggot do know anything at all about Robert Turbin? You don't do you? Yes he's not Marshawn Lynch but he's more than adequate and can get the job done. His average per carry close to Lynchs. And, with his speed they might try a different approach, more outside stuff, more receiving.

Here's where your dumb ass.....that's college, hahaha!!!!!!!!
Trust me stupid how fast a back runs the 40 is a very very big deal, only a dumb fuck like you wouldn't know this.
You know why Jerry Rice wasn't taken sooner, of course not, well it was his 40 time. Hey stupid ya know why your Chargers brought in WR sprinter Willie McGee? How about Tennesse speedster Anthony Miller?
Damn you're dumb~~~~

8,5 per seems good value if you're the raiders.. i'm pretty sure carr needs that type of weapon.. along with cooper, would be quite the combo.

i'd never make that move if i were GM. he can't block, is essentially a red-zone specialist (a damn good one), and was probably inflated some by manning

well red zone efficiency is one of the biggest issues of your team. Considering the amount of cap space, i'd do it, i mean it's the most talent deficient position in football, these kind of players don't grow on trees.

getting into the red zone was a bigger issue for us tbh
being a team without talent doesnt mean you should go overspend for some talent. thats what makes bad teams stay bad.

Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
cobb seems much more an overpay to me. They seem to be in the same price range but the first one plays at one of the least valuable position while the second plays in the most valuable. Not to mention, Carr is a young qb and young qbs have a hard time using slot receivers properly.

Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
Good signing, and a former McCloughan pick when he was in San Francisco. Had a pretty good year last year in Indy, and a lot of fans liked him in Indy for his work ethic, but was getting paid too much to be a backup. Will provide depth either behind Jason Hatcher, or whoever our other DE will be after FA, and the draft (Hopefully Leonard Williams drops). Glad Bowen and/or Golston will be finally gone.
I actually though Merriweather played well at times last year. He didn't get any interceptions for a safety, but he did other things well at times and really didn't get burned as many times compared to Ryan Clark. Yeah they're better safeties out there than him in FA, and in the draft but he wouldn't be a bad backup imo, if we strike out in FA or McCloughan's big secondary player look he likes isn't there in the draft . Hoping Landon Collins from Alabama falls to the second round, and our new secondary coach who was the defensive coordinator for the Giants last year can teach him some coverage skills compared to the clown Raheem Morris.

Tagged:
Justin Houston, Kansas City Chiefs, linebacker:The NFL's leading sack-man with 22 in 2014 will remain under Andy Reid's guidance. Just 26, Houston has made three straight Pro Bowls and was the key to theChiefs front-seven dominance last year. The linebacker won't sign the tag ($13.195 million) right away, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports.
Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos, wide receiver:The wideout earned 469 targets, 297 receptions, 4,483 yards, 15.1 yards per reception and 35 touchdowns over the past three seasons with Peyton Manning at the helm. Keeping him in Denver was the Broncos' offseason priority. Now they hope to use the ($12.823 million) tag leverage to get a long-term deal done.
Dez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys, wide receiver: A long-term deal will be tricky to work out, but Jerry Jones made it clear he would never let Bryant walk away. This means that DeMarco Murray should hit free agency and will probably leave Dallas.
Jason Pierre-Paul, New York Giants, defensive end:Rapoport broke the news that JPP will remain a Giant. Tagging him will cost the Giants $14.813 million, so they will desperately try to work out a long-term contract. Observers slept on Pierre-Paul's quietly excellent 2014 campaign which included dominant run-stopping play. The Giants know how valuable he is.
Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots, kicker: Rapoport reported that the Patriots havefranchise tagged Gostkowski. His tag carries a $4.56 million figure.
Charles Clay, Miami Dolphins, tight end: Clay received the Dolphins' transition tag, the team announced. Clay will receive $7.701 million under the under the transition tag. Clay can sign an offer sheet with any team he wants, but the Dolphins will have the right to match any contract.
Not Tagged:
Ndamukong Suh, Detroit Lions, defensive tackle: In the end the $26.8 million tag number proved too rich for the Lions' brass. Suh will be the rare Hall-of-Fame-caliber player to hit free agency in his prime. Jockeying for his services should thrust his contract north of the six-year, $100 million deal J.J. Watt signed.
Julius Thomas, Denver Broncos, tight end: By tagging Demaryius Thomas the Broncos will allow the tight end to test free agency. Many teams are said to be interested in pursuing the uber-athletic pass catcher. His market will likely price him out of Denver.
DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys, running back: The Cowboys will find out if it was their offensive line or Murray that truly made their running game roll in 2014. He's likely to get paid more elsewhere.
Devin McCourty, New England Patriots, safety: Following the Patriots' decision to franchise tag Gostkowski, McCourty will likely hit the free agent market.
Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers, wide receiver: The Packers have plenty of cap space and want to retain the shifty receiver, but not at the $12.823 million-level. Cobb will be the top free agent target for receiver-needy teams.
Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles, wide receiver: Maclin bet on himself last year and it paid off. The receiver is confident a deal could get done in Philly -- an offense that might be his best fit -- however he could find interest from teams like the Chiefs who have a need at the position and a connection with Andy Reid.
Jerry Hughes, Buffalo Bills, defensive lineman: A top-10 free agent on our 101 list, Hughes has averaged 10.0 sacks and 40 quarterback hurries over the past two years. He should get plenty of attention on the open market.
Jordan Cameron, Cleveland Browns, tight end: Cameron has concussion questions to answer, but is the next best available tight end after Julius Thomas to hit the open market without strings attached.

i think at this point we're frontrunners for Cobb... Suh seems like a lottery ticket between a handful of teams including Oak/Jax/Det. at least if that doesn't happen, we're basically a lock to get Knighton as a consolation prize

Re: **Official 2015 Free Agency Thread**
the Raiders and Jags are expected to make offers to Cobb that exceed Green Bay's... don't get why the Jags are trying to make such a big push for Cobb... they drafted Marqise Lee and Alan Robinson last year, took Ace Sanders the year before, Allen Hurns was productive for an undrafted rookie, and they're optimistic Blackmon will be back this season. Dumping 9+ mil on another receiver makes little sense for a team that needs a lot of talent elsewhere.

:lol right, fuck the single biggest reason our secondary didn't massively suck this year like it did the previous 4-5 years. Revis is way more valuable than McCourty.
The only reason people are even trying to compare McCourty's impact to Revis's is because Revis was signed as a free agent while McCourty is a :cryBelichick guy!:cry

Revis took less money to come to NE last year (he had bigger offers), and I'm not sure how Kraft is cheap. He's spent money whenever Belichick has wanted him to, and the Patriots are struggling to get under the cap right now.

IMO it's a blessing in disguise for Oakland. Granted, Carr is better than the trash Minny has had at QB recently, but I didn't see Cobb being any better on a rebuilding team than Jennings has been for the Vikings.

we were going to overspend for Cobb... but honestly where the hell else are we going to dump 70 mil in one offseason :lol
crazy that the packers are actually paying cobb more than jordy. also... cobb is 25, jennings is past his prime. maybe we can go after maclin, but i feel like he's a lock to stay with philly

IMO they should go easy on free agent spending. I know it's easy to say as a NE fan but when teams spend huge in free agency it rarely ever works.

we need to spend a shit ton of money just to hit the spending floor. when most teams dont want to spend too much, its because you get caught up with bad deals, have to make bad cuts/restructures.... we literally have 70 million in room. we have to do SOMETHING with it. getting weapons to invest in Carr is an obvious move.
