Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
www.rotoworld.com/recent/nba/1258/tiago-splitter
Spurs' head coach Gregg Popovich said that Tiago Splitter (calf) went through a light practice on Friday, but he would not commit to his availability for Game 1 against the Clippers on Sunday.
"If he plays, he plays," said Popovich of Splitter. Splitter is likely headed for a game-time decision on Sunday, but if he's forced to sit, there will be more minutes for Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw, and Aron Baynes. Stay tuned. Apr 17 - 1:26 PM

Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
He'll play. The question is whether he'll be healthy enough to have a positive impact.
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
I say he doesn't play or gets very limited minutes
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
Tony should give him some icy-hot for his vagina.
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
If he can give us 15 good minutes a game in this first series, that'll be huge.
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
Our head coach is fucken Ivan Drago "If he plays, he plays"

Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
He'll play. Splitter is injury prone just like Manu and Tony. It doesn't make him a p*%#y. Pop sits his players for as long as he can, to be safe.
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
Fucking Splitter. This is getting old, same old story with him all the time. Patty played in the FINALS with a bum shoulder and Manu played with a hurt leg (And both needed offseason surgery) yet they still sacked up and played..
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
Splitter injury also gave Baynes more minutes. Big Banger looks solid now(rebounding/stupid fouls on defense need work.)

Seems like he didn't play in the playoffs last year? Smh at some people.

Really he hope he at least gets the minutes Pop would be tempted to give Bonner. Please Pop, methkc isn't in...so don't give Bonner ANY playoff minutes. I don't even want the fucker in garbage time.

He'll play. He's been ready to play since the Phoenix game. Pop is just overly cautious with his players coming back from injury.

Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
Tiago versus Clippers Regular season
Game 1 - Splitter DNP - Spurs win 89-85
Game 2 - Splitter 6pts 2 rebs +3 in 18:30 min - Spurs 125-118... Griffin 22pts *Splitter had a defensive rating of 129 - only player worse Bonner 131
Game 3 - 8pts 1 reb - 9 in 17 min - Clippers 105-85.... Griffin 31pts 13 rebs *Splitter had the lowest Rb percentage on team - Defensive rating 111 team avg 108-
Game 4 - 11pts 1 reb -3 in 16 min - Clippers 119-115... Griffin DNP - Splitter defensive rating 115 Baynes defensive rating 116. Splitter Orating 134 Baynes 139 Baynes outplayed Splitter here easily - 14/4 plus 2...
Needless to say Splitter has done anything that warrants his contract against the Clippers this year. He has been outplayed by Baynes, and only averages 8 points 1 rebound in 17 minutes of action. Would Spurs like to have him, sure, do Spurs need him to win, absolutely not. 1-2 against the Clippers with Splitter in the lineup. 1-0 without him

Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
It's not even Splitter vs Baynes, though I would take Splitter any day. It's Splitter + Baynes vs Baynes + heavy minutes for Duncan or any minutes for one of Bonner and Ayers.
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
The way Pop was finnicky in answering to reporters should tell you all you need to know about his status tonight...

not worried about tim. TBH Errors will be fine against Davis. Even with the injury to splitter - we have more depth than they do.
-
Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
Baynes, Duncan & Boris. I can live with that because it means no Ayres

Regular season games are all about the circumstances: Who was injured/resting? Who had the rest advantage? Who had more motivation?
Statistically, it may not appear that Splitter made much of a difference in the season series, but that's highly unlikely to be the case in a playoff series.

Baynes can't guard mobile, face up fours (obviously, Griffin is also adept with his back to the basket, but he's not stupid; he knows that would be playing into Baynes' hands); Splitter can.
Splitter is precisely the type that gives Griffin trouble, with his combination of length, lateral quickness and decent enough strength.

yet griffin averaged what, 26ppg on him? Seems like Griffin should have easily been scoring champ.

They didn't play the Clippers after the point where Splitter started looking right. This is what I mean by you have to consider the circumstances.

last year he averaged 23 on Tiago. Coincidentally Spurs were 1-1 versus the clippers with Tiago and 1-0 without him. This is what I mean by Tiago fucking blows.

Baynes has pretty good hips and is good at keeping his feet through motion and contact. He's been pretty good when switched off onto guards all year long as well. I sometimes wonder if you watch the game at all.

Re: Splitter practiced today and is game time decision for first Clipper game
Tiago was never able to stop Griffin, no one on the Spurs can, but they can live with Blake getting his. still good to have Tiago back ...

What % did he shoot, though? The average is irrelevant. Griffin is going to play roughly 3 quarters and score 20+, no matter the defender.

Baynes is slow laterally and is only useful when it comes to banging with back to the basket brutes with little to no face up game. Your bizarre obsession with him blinds you to this.

I don't it matters about percentage. Say he misses the first rebounds then gets an and 1. His percentage is lower but he got a better result.
Every time Blake scores is a momentum play for clippers. Splitter or Baynes need to man the fuck up and throw his ass into the front row. Unfortunately Baynes played like a bitch. But equally as terrible as Tiagay.
Splitter transition d was awful
