Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Not trying to be a troll here, but I felt like all of the bigs, Duncan, Splitter, Baynes, and Diaw were afraid of DeAndre Jordan. Anytime they had the ball near the hoop they were hesitant and didn't go up with any authority. Did it seem to anyone else that the SA bigs were afraid? And if so, will they get over that fear in game 2? Because honestly that was the biggest issue to me, their hesitance around the hoop led to many missed easy opportunities that didn't allow them to keep the game really close at times.

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
The paint was packed tonight, and it didn't help at all we couldn't knock down our open 3s. Boris will be key to space the floor and give us more room, but he has to knock down the shots.

Patty as well.
Boris' mid range is important this series to keep the defense honest, but he needs to be decisive with it. He hesitated too much today.

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Definitely too much hesitancy on everyone's part in the paint . . . Jordan's gonna block shots. Just keep taking it at him.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
The rainbow shots were embarrassing. It was like he was 30 foot tall in their minds. Jordan isn't a 'great' player. He's a good player. Work his ass, make him foul. Go at him. Christ.

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Need cojo to dunk on jordan tbh
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
If I were 'the spurs' I'd go at him, hard. From start to finish.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Yeah looked like Deandre Jordan presence was making us shit in our pants in the paint like when we play OKC with Ibaka on the floor.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
It's brutal playing with a point guard that can't space the floor like the Tony.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
The Spurs will adjust.
The interior defense was packed, and Jordan along with Griffin did not have to run around too much to patrol the paint.
Mostly static interior offense from the Spurs, easier to cover by athletic, rangy players.
Next game, I think the Spurs will try to pull Jordan away from the paint with perimeter shooting, high post plays and more "hockey assist" passing instead of direct interior passes to the crowded paint area.

And over 12 mins of Joseph. Play Patty, try to limit Crawford (and not with KL - he doesn't go over screens well) and dare Paul to keep up this scoring for a series.

if they are gonna post Kawhi, they need to keep Jordan on the other side of the court. His height when trapping was giving Kawhi problems.

We did not have a lot of mid range jumpshots also this game.
All 3s or under the basket type shots.
Mix things up like a veteran pitcher and they opposition will get their brains scrambled.
There were flashes of it earlier. But too little.
And the impact of Reddick I feel is underappreciated. Did not score a ton, but did enough to change the tempo and skew the defense.

The way to beat a trap like that is by making a quick move before the big can establish good trapping position. Kawhi needs to decide BEFORE the trap arrives whether he's going to freeze/confuse the defense by making a move towards the goal or dribble away from the double into a pass which hopefully leads to moving the ball to an open shooter or cutter. Unfortunately, that's a lot to ask from Kawhi considering he has little experience facing hard double teams.

not only our bigs but also our wings including Green and Kawhi were terrified. shameful

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Those were championship like celebrations from the Clippers on early game 1 plays though... Make your own conclusions on when was the last time the Spurs celebrated like that on a 1st round in the playoffs...

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
We waxed a Heat team last year that would've hammered this Clips team. We're much, much better than we played last night.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
DeGobert Jordan is great. Pop needs to make him think and no just hacking him is not making him think.

tbh, they always react like that- no matter the insignificance of the game.

Is a Warriors fan actually going to criticize a team for "overcelebrating"?
Curry does half-hour dance routines after every made basket instead of getting back on defense :lol

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
It was in their heads let's hope it got out. You see after CoJo dunked on ibaka that myth is gone. Baynes could've dunked on him last night but threw up some weak shit that rolled out. They just need to go up strong two big 7-fters he's bound to foul.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Yeah.
Duncan has never played against big athletic centers.
Scared too death...
Now Danny going to the basket throwing up puffy prayers...

Danny ran more pick n rolls than Kawhi last night :lmao
I really don't understand this team sometimes

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
It was embarrassing to be at Staples Center watching that game to be honest. The Spurs couldn't buy any open layups and open 3's. cp3 and Jamal Crawford shooting lights out didn't help either. A lot of season ticket holders sitting around me weren't buying tonight's Clipper win either, they know shooting this well is a fluke and they're still scared about the series in general.

haha no, not saying curry doesn't do it (actually one of my least favorite things about him), just pointing out that the clips also do it.

It was packed and it seemed like everyone forgot to pump-fake Jordan.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
If we cant move the ball and make open 3s, then the other team loads up the paint and we're toast. We are committed to make 3s in our offense.

Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Someone has to have the balls and take it to the rim......if your shots aren't falling then take the damn ball and slam it your either going to get rejected or go the foul line..hint hint..Green
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Oh my god its super Jordan !
Jordan the boogeyman gonna eat you up and make you shit bricks ! Wahhh !
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
The whole team was scared shitless. If we don't win this series, Tim is gonna be sitting on the bench with his head waaaay down, looking depressed as fuck while not acknowledging that he didn't give his all out of fear.
If he and Kawhi can't/won't/are too afraid to stay aggressive, then we don't deserve to win.
It's sad that are still so easily intimidated. The two of them in particular better come fucking strong on Wednesday.
Attack Jordan and get him in foul trouble or go the fuck home.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Pop has never really helped facilitate mentally aggressive players.
-
Re: Were the SA bigs afraid of DeAndre Jordan?
Your right other then Manu we have no one on this team that can dribble and take it to the rim hard. And he can't do it like he used to being 37 years old but I do think that as a NBA player that Green and Kawhi should be able to do that ? NBA .....Best in the World.....You can dribble the ball?
