Re: David Robinson: "Jahlil Okfur Reminds Me Of Tim Duncan"
Towns wants to play with Kobe...
The attractiveness of Los Angeles is obvious. The 19-year-old out of the University of Kentucky would get to learn from Kobe Bryant, who gave him a pep talk three years ago when Towns played for the Dominican Republic's national team against Team USA.
He'd also become the future face of the franchise for a team that has a long history of building around great centers. Fellow former Wildcat Julius Randle would be next to him in the frontcourt, and the Lakers are sure to make a run at the big names in free agency next summer.

It'll take a few years, Kam, but we'll enter the 2020s like we did the 2000s

No complaints from me. I'd like to see what he can do. Going to be hard to match 5 NBA titles and 2 MVPs, though.

One note in the Sports Illustrated article discusses how Okafor likes to emulate San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan. That's not to say he's going to become one of the best post players in NBA history, but rather, it illustrates the type of game he prefers to play.
He's not overly flashy and doesn't demand attention. Yet when you look at the box score after the game, he's usually pretty close to 20 points and 10 rebounds. Duncan was a far more polished defender coming out of college than the Duke product is, though.
Keep in mind...he's coming out after his freshman year...whereas Duncan played 4 yrs in college

You two butt buddies do realize that Duncan didn't even play basketball until high school and he didn't get any type of real coaching until he actually got to wake forest, right?

How can you compare a Genesis and a 3 series. If you put it next to a 7 series.

The Admiral—who played alongside Duncan in San Antonio for six seasons—tweeted his impressions of Okafor, who turned in a 20-point, 10-rebound performance as part of the Duke rout.
So what you're saying and What Dale agrees with is that you wish you had Tim Duncan.

Not id he's a Laker. We've had 3 players win 5 titles in three different eras. This kid in one season had a better college career than Jim had in 4 seasons.

Oh so this translates into a Duncan pro career.
Absurd.
One small detail that has allowed Duncan to last so long.
Huge wingspan.
Bad mushrooms in the salad post.
Duncan was an immediate force on D. Robinson understood this having his shots blocked for the first time in practice.

I'm not translating anything. Just the facts here. Jim played four years in college and never made it to the title game let alone winning it. This kid did it in his first season, while Jim struggled in his first season at Wake. At 19, this kid is way ahead of Jim as far as skill level. In fact... there aren't many guys in the pros that man the block the way this kid does already. Oh... Jim has a 7'3 wingspan and this kid has a 7'5. Whoever gets this kid has a dominate big for years to come if he stays healthy. No one can predict he'll be as good as Jim. Hell... no one saw Jim being as good as he became. We all thought he was the second coming of Brad Daugherty and Benoit Benjamin.
-
Re: David Robinson: "Jahlil Okfur Reminds Me Of Tim Duncan"
i can see the similarity.

I saw Daugherty not Benjamin, but I watch a lot of ACC. UCLA and UNC are my favorite NCAABBall teams ...

Re: David Robinson: "Jahlil Okfur Reminds Me Of Tim Duncan"
I think dick in the ass Spured him on....NO PUN intended :lmao
-
Re: David Robinson: "Jahlil Okfur Reminds Me Of Tim Duncan"
Duncan was really good at Wake and they had some other talent there was a skinny big that was a year or two behind Duncan (woods?) but he never amounted to much ...
Duncan never had a great guard in college and that is why he never went deep in to the tournament.

Re: David Robinson: "Jahlil Okfur Reminds Me Of Tim Duncan"
tbh I understand Lakers fans are excited by the idea to draft a new Tim Duncan and not a new Kobe Bryant
They finally came to reason :lol
