Aldridge is waiting for Matt Bonner to show up for a 2nd meeting with the Spurs. Of course Matt is in New Hampshire and doesn't have his phone on.

One thing I was thinking about: Before this all started, many people felt that SA (if using cap space) would have very limited ability to keep Mills &/or Danny Green.
But with a committment from Green already (known variable) plus the ability to retain Mills (looks good, not for sure) that already gives the Spurs more depth than anyone could have imagined if they get LMA. Then you factor in the Room Exception and the very large 8.5M Trade Exception from the Tiago trade and they have so many more assets and tools to build out a roster.

They'll have to renounce that TE in order to create the cap space to sign Aldridge.

However; I'm not buying the LMA to PHX stuff. The only reason I even give it even a chance is because WOJ said it.
One of the reasons Woj gets scoops and all of his insider info is because he does favors for teams when it doesn't hurt his credibility; runs positive stories, etc - that he later can cash in for access. Phoenix does not make sense from either a basketball, or monetary situation; it only serves to build up that franchise/or an agent related to recent deals with them. Could Woj's "Neck and Neck" tweet be a favor he extended for future access/scoops? After all, it is not a "this is happening" tweet - it is a "this could go either way" tweet.

I really think people are overlooking the fact that Brevin Knight and Aldridge share the same agent.
I don't think there's a shot in hell that LA goes to Phoenix. I think this is a case of an agent having a star in Aldridge give some credibility to Phoenix in the free agent market by showing interest there to help his guy Knight out.
Aldridge says it's between Phoenix and SA, comes to SA, while Phoenix gets the PR boost to get another piece for Knight and his team.
Spurs fans shouldn't be sweating this news.

Re: Marc Stein: Spurs are #1 on LaMarcus Aldridge's list
Just wondering if anyone knows when is the earliest we might here Aldridge's decision? Has he already met with all the teams he was interested in?

I doubt it's that empty. Phoenix hasn't been great, but their pitch was based around how Aldridge would immediately be the face of the franchise. No other team can offer him that, besides Knicks, but let's be serious. Anyhow, the allure of that idea will fade, and he'll go where he can truly contend (ie: Spurs, Rockets).

Re: Marc Stein: Spurs are #1 on LaMarcus Aldridge's list
Maybe phoenix does have a great plan for the future.
That is a possibility.

Re: Marc Stein: Spurs are #1 on LaMarcus Aldridge's list
Quick Update: Chris Broussard on SC just now said he's hearing this morning Spurs are still the favorites. Said Suns impressed LMA in yesterday's meeting, but that he doesn't think it's as close as some other do, and that SA is clear favorite. No new information here, but it just seems like everything is pointing our direction. Hope his "sources" are right.

As Mills was a member of the LMA presentation group, I am certain they plan (and know) how to keep him. They wouldn't bring someone in to woo a free agent if that person is going to be gone. RC and Pop have this figured out.

The plan is the willingness of Tim Duncan to take whatever is leftover after signing LMA while keeping Mills. Really remarkable.
