You know? I actually feel better about the draft than I did before this pick. We'll at least get to see him in the summer league. The fact that he's so obscure means one of two things: Either he's the best player who agreed to go overseas for a year or the Spurs saw something they really liked when they scouted him. I actually watched UMass quite a bit. LaLanne is very athletic, a good defender, good around the rim, and can shoot from the outside. I heard he blew the Spurs away at a workout earlier this week too.
And he's also a good kid, soft-spoken, and very mature playing all 4 years in College and being 23. He's a hard worker too -- he just created a twitter account tonight -- so you know where his priorities lie. At #55 you couldn't have picked a better player IMO.
