Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
I really hope we can somehow get Kent Bazemore on that Splitter deal, the dudes here have suggested that it is possible, but do the Hawks give him up when they already lost Carroll?

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
They already stated that it wouldn't be any player currently on the Hawks roster. So will either be an oversea draft pick of theirs or draft picks. Bazemore would be a nice pickup, but not happening.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
I would Love to see Kyle Anderson get spot mins at the 3 pos. I think he could have a serious upside.
-
Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
Gerald Green is a talent.
How much did Heat sign him for?
-
Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
Woudn't fit under the cap., LMA gets about $1 million more, + McColumn (around $1 million) his deal is two million.
Pretty good player. Can defend a bit and a decent offensive player. Atlanta doesn't have alot of size on the wing with Carrol leaving so I'd think they'd keep him.

Hawks just signed Justin Holiday and traded for Tim Hardaway Jr on draft night. Both play Bazemore's position.
Hawks currently have a perimeter depth chart like this:
PG: Teague/ Schroder/ Mack
SG: Hardaway/ Bazemore/ Holiday/ Schroder (Schroder will see minutes at the SG next year)
SF: Korver/ Thabo/ Daye
Its reasonable to consider Bazemore expendable, considering they just acquired 2 players that play his position and for the fact that he only has 1 yr left on his deal.
If Hawks planned on keeping Bazemore after this year, I don't think they make two moves for two shooting guards.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
DPG explained it in another thread. While Bene provided a spreadsheet explanation. But that was before that mcallum signing so I guess it's impossible now. Forgot that.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
Gerald Green is an idiot tbh

It could still fit under the cap -- depends on Duncan.
But even if Duncan gets the rest of the cap ( around 7.2 mil), who's to say SA won't go a million or 1.5 over the luxury tax for 1 year?
-
Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
The problem with Bazemore is that the Spurs can't absorb his contract. At least for the moment.

Never mind. They actually could. Duncan could take a shade less than $6 million and they could take on Bazemore's $2 million and they be at $70 million even. Sing Manu to the RE and West for the min.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
Why did Gerald Green sign for the minimum? I'm sure a ton of teams would overpay for him, if players like Baynes and Joseph can get as much as they do.

Persuasive Pat Riley.
Heat will pay him next year.

Much more likely. Team's cold-blooded.

They could finish pretty high in the east if they have a healthy roster.

Gerald Green is one of the worst defenders in the league. Not even good enough for the Suns and their fans. He is also a me first player.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
So what about that overseas player thing? Was that just a rumor or the deal wasnt final yet

Gordon, Richardson, Schved, Allen, Babbitt, JR Smith, Thornton... these are the 2/3 that are pretty much available.. I figure about 4 of those guys would play for the minimum
-
Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
I bet PATFO wasnt even interested. I mean spurs vs heat both for the min is an easy decision.

With Gerald Green gone, I'm now on the Alexey Shved bandwagon. Do it, RC.

Yeah i doubt they were interested. Lots of warning flags when a guy talented like Green is only offered the minimum. Sure it's probably a one season gamble to get paid next year, but still...

Sony Weems? I believed he signed with an NBA team. Can't remember which one.

Yeah, doubt they were interested. If it's minimum it's about Miami nightlife and minutes

Bazemore is better than all those guys imho

Schved would be interesting.. I think it would be a steal. Too much potential not to make a phone call

Bazemore has more upside because he's still young and he can defend. Gordon and Richardson are vets who wouldn't rock the boat but more so Richardson. Babbitt is a great shooter, the rest are just bodies

duncan and anyone back in the splitter deal would need to fit under the Cap. Duncan would just have to take less.

They didn't know this until Gerald entered the league. I doubt they're close.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
Gerald is prolly jealous of LDN's success tbh
-
Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
I honestly think Ellington gets Contracts because teams think he'll turn into the next Danny Green, is from UNC etc. If it hasn't happened by now, it's just not going to.

Ellington is a better shooter than Danny, and he can get his midrange shot off the dribble with ease. The problem is he had never been on an nba team where he actually gets open looks consistently. It happened briefly for him in Memphis. He just needs to find the right situation... though I doubt the Nets are that spot.
I wish the Warriors had signed Wayne instead of Barbosa. In that wide open offense, with defenders focusing on other guys, Wayne would gave torched the nets.

Pretty sure Danny is better than Wayne in almost every possible way. So that definitely helps.

And you would be wrong about that. Danny is by far the better defender. He is also taller with a longer wingspan. But Wayne is the better shooter. Wayne can come off screens, curl, and bury midrange jumpers with ease. Wayne can attack the basket and finish (something Spurs fans are always getting mad at Danny for being unable to do. ) wayne is also the better ball handler.
But that is the genius of Popovich. He knows Danny's weaknesses and rarely asks him to do those things that Danny struggles with.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
The young guys signing for a 1 year minimum contract are looking for minutes & playing time to showcase their skills/pad their stats so they could get paid next season. Just look at Ed Davis getting paid by the Blazers after signing to playing for the minimum last summer for no other than the Lakers. Gerald Green should be the primary scoring option off the Heat bench & Ellington might start if Joe Johnson gets traded. Marcus Thornton is probably going to end up on the Knicks as Hardaway Jr's replacement.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
I like green. Would of loved him on the Spurs. One of the best Dunkers on nba2k
-
Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
Shved is much better than Bazemore and Gerald Green IMO. He fits the team and is a much more capable SG and ball mover than Green would be. Green cannot play a lick of defense. I want KJ McDaniels somehow! Trade future 2nd's for his RFA rights and resign him cheap.

Re: Gerald Green to Heat, Ellington to Nets
I love the indignity in this thread about Green signing for the minimum when the Spurs got David West for the minimum!

Good point. David West >>>> any other player that will get the minimum this season.
