Re: Good bye Matt Bonner thanks for the laughs. (Red Mamba appreciation thread)
If Bonner is willing to take the minimum, we'd be silly not to bring him back. Marjanovic might have growing pains adjusting to the NBA, he could have some use.
Someone just needs to get him a smaller/lighter cell phone though. Can't have the iPhone 6 hurting his shot. :toast

He'll slide into the two guard spot after Manu retires

What other guys for the minimum would you rather have as a 6th big? He can shoot (even with last year being a down year, he still shot nearly 37% from 3 which is definitely far better than the average big man), he's not a complete defensive liability, he can play the 4 and the 5, and he knows the system inside and out.
I don't see how anyone could be THAT against the idea of Bonner as the last big off the bench for a minimum deal. I mean I guess I could see the argument for Lalanne if he continues to impress over the summer, but that's about it. Regardless, bringing Bonner back certainly wouldn't be worth melting down over :lol

I think Lalanne goes to the Toros, and Matty comes back for one more ride, tbh.. but with this roster makeup, i don't care

For the min as the 6th big I would love to see him back.

Teams chase him off the three point line all the time. Spreads the floor. He's a threat to make them, so even if he had an off year like last year, you still have to guard him because of what he is capable of. He's not going to play most nights, but when you need to hack Jordan or Dwight, he's your man. And he can bang with bigs for a few minutes a night, if needed against a team with a 7 ft. big. And he can still be a three point threat so long as he doesn't use his I-phone.

I think they would rather have Ayres! :lol

Re: Good bye Matt Bonner thanks for the laughs. (Red Mamba appreciation thread)
Matt Bonner has been the biggest waste of a Spurs roster spot and Spurs money in team history. The dude choked when it mattered. Fuck that guy, tbh.

Re: Good bye Matt Bonner thanks for the laughs. (Red Mamba appreciation thread)
They should keep him as an assistant coach. If someone on the roster washes out, they can plug him in for the minimum.

Well Ibaka did in the WCF. That is what got him away from the rim in games 5 and 6.

It was Diaw more than anything. Bonner gets the credit for that but he only played a few minutes in each of those games as the "starter" while Diaw did the bulk of the work.

Give him a scout job and then if one of the Biggs goes down activate the red mamba

Thanks for all the threes in 2011, Rocket!

I have never been a Bonner hater, but he is done. He was done last year. Keep him around in some capacity as he is a good dude, but don't waste a roster spot on him at this stage.

How far were you willing to go to get Aldridge in terms of letting players go?
“The planning of it, to move Tiago and not know you were going to get LaMarcus, that was a significant risk. Especially someone who had had a big part of a lot of success we’ve had in this building. So the planning that went into the sequencing, the alignment of the contracts, there were a lot of decisions. We’ll miss the relationships we had with Marco and with Cory and with Aron, and Tiago. Losing those guys…and Jeff Ayres, we don’t know what’s going to happen yet. And Matt. So losing those relationships, not only a big part of the success but the chemistry and the culture of the group, you have to continue to recognize there will be some losses in this process. It’s never easy.”

Totally fine with Cady going overseas and Bonner taking his spot. Boban pretty much cemented the big rotation for me.

Spurs should retire his jersey, tbh..they already set a precedent with Avery Johnson..

Please, last year they left him open at the 3 pt line in the playoffs and he either passed it or missed the wide open shot 9 times out of 10. He is useless at this point IMO.

Well if we're going to focus on a 7-game sample size instead of the entire season, I guess we should start labeling Danny Green a terrible shooter :rolleyes
Bonner shot 36.5% from deep on 5 attempts per 36 minutes. I don't get why people are acting like the dude completely lost his shooting ability. He had a down year, yes, but he claims he was dealing with an elbow injury and even with it being a down year, he still shot a respectable clip from deep...especially for a big man.

Who cares, the team is so good he wont be seeing any significant minutes.
HeŽll be back for that Bonner 3 > Lebron 2 discussion.
