What the ... ? This forum has no room for maturity or optimistic statements. To answer your question: No asterisk will be associated with Tim Duncan's titles when his career ends. Phil Jackson mentioned an asterisk for the 1999 Championship because he's really a jealous little girl.
Pink
Spurs won't win a ring without heavy contributions from Duncan. Also, Duncan's willingness to take less money to resign made this superteam possible. He will be a legit 6 time champion, though I would agree that it wouldn't be the same as Jordan's 6, it will still be one of the top three greatest runs for a player in NBA history.
Tainted is too strong a word, but I think OBJECTIVE fans would see that Jordan 6 > Duncan 6 if Duncan "played a small role."
Jordan was still at the top of his game and the best player on the court when the Bulls won their 6th. TD might only be the 3rd best player on the Spurs next season, so that would take a little bit of luster off, but only a little bit. Winning 6 is worthy of homage and esteem, no matter what.
No telling how the system develops yet, but if we get to the finals I'm sure Tim will be in talks for MVP. Always is.
Duncan > MJ
No homer...
the battle will be waged by the kobe nuthuggers. right now they are shitting their pants since the LMA rebuff and begging debacle not only because he didn't come, but because he gives Duncan a legitimate shot at 6. Even the lakerzground faggots have accepted that kobe isn't gonna get 6 and the only thing they have left is the war for the hearts and mind of the casual fan, who right now still thinks Kobe > Duncan. It's a closer split than ever as Kobe continues to cancer it up in the lottery, but they still have a narrow lead because after the "ringz" shit take, which when tied in 2014 was a major blow, points is all that's left standing. They know though that if Duncan gets 6 it's game over for Kobe's claim as the PMJGOAT. The "*" storyline will be promoted hard by the Kobestans including media Kobestans like Broussard, Stephen A Smith, Magic, etc.
lock this shit
It's an idiotic thread. That's why people don't like it.
In the eyes of NBA fans not Spurs fans idiots
Considering 01, 04, 06, 08, 13, not at all. Duncan should be at 8 or 9 by now.
He'll get to 7 to tie things up with his old mate Big Shot Rob. No asterix's in the NBA. If you win you win, if you don't you don't.
No because of we won 6, which by the way we still have a long way to go, it means that TD went through the whole RS as one of the best defensive C's and it probably continued on to the playoffs while contributing his usual clutch performances ala Clipper last season
Who cares? Spurs fans know what Duncan will have accomplished and that's all that matters. Plus his legacy will live longer than Kobe's because he has been the consummate friend and teammate. An approach that is apparently alien to Kobe :lol
Tim Duncan is bulletproof at this point tbh
