Re: Islam - so misunderstood
Is Farrakhan considered by most to be a mainstream Islamic figure or a fringe extremist? Cite your sources.
Re: Islam - so misunderstood

He has over 400,000 Twitter followers. He led a march that had an estimated 440,000 people in attendance.
I don't know what your criteria are but for an Islamic leader in the U.S., I'd say he's one of the most well known and followed.

You didn't answer the question.
Re: Islam - so misunderstood
Sounds like extreme Neighborhood Watch to me... But I'm sure Breitbart hopes its readers will think it means Kill Whitey.

He's a leader of a dissident group and only blacks are allowed in his group. So yes, he's a fringe leader and more than 400,000 Muslims in this country.

Yeah, but Twitter followers count more.
Re: Islam - so misunderstood
One former follower of Farrakhan's was not surprised by the bombastic tone and content of the speech.
"When I was young I used to go listen to Farrakhan and I bought into his racist and hate-filled message," author and radio talk-show host Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson told WND. "To young people who don’t have stable families and fathers around to guide them, Farrakhan’s anger and rhetoric seems like courage and strength. In my anger, I would have killed for Farrakhan. I know what it’s like for these angry black people to be manipulated and convinced to mindlessly follow this black racist."
Peterson said Farrakhan is no different than ISIS calling for an attack on Americans.

Dunno, but considering his sect only has about 50k actual members, it isn't Farrakhan.

You write everyone off as extremist so who the fuck is left? At what point do we start to recognize a correlation here?
Re: Islam - so misunderstood
Farrakhan is a fringe even among black Muslims. He's not even close to be considered mainstream and hasn't been relevant in two decades. His group is considered a splinter group when it comes to black Muslims and doesn't have any relevance when it comes to the Arab/South Asian Muslims.

I don't consider everyone an extremist.
I consider you to be an idiot.
