This is probably an old video, found it on ESPN. Basically D'antoni admiring Boris Diaw's unselfish play in the Suns, remarking how he was always ahead of the modern trend in kicking out to a 3 when it appeared he had a layup.
Sorry if Boris already has a church somewhere, but I looked for it and could not find it. :bobo
Tangent: If the Suns had half the luck the Warriors had last season, they would've ringed. They were among the better teams not to win it all.

Crazy to think people were calling him FMVP after all those assists he dished out in game 3 against MIA.
He also propelled us to the finals with that 26 point game he had against OKC.

Boris sees the game differently. He's an amazing player. You know, tomorrow marks the 200th anniverary of Mozart's piano concerto in D minor. When I think of Boris Diaw, I think of Mozart.

Walton saved his best lines for Olowokandi in the Clippers local broadcasts though. It was like listening to Spurstalk talk about Jefferson.

Zach Lowe talked about what D'antoni said about Diaw on his podcast before. Lowe said he was amazed when he saw Diaw playing for the Suns, he found it strange to see Diaw pass up an easy layup to pass to someone in the corner for a three. Lol. Looking back Lowe said it's weird how in today's NBA, that's normal on a fastbreak. Back then it wasn't because D'antoni revolutionized pace and space.

You got me thinking. I did notice in the interview that D'Antoni almost subtly credited Diaw for a lot of what the Suns did offensively when they were successful. He said: (1) That Diaw made it look effortless, like it was something they had planned to do (like from a set play) when it wasn't, which made it so that Diaw could never get his dues for what he did on that team. (2) Looking back on it now, Diaw was really ahead of the current trend, but people didn't recognize it necessarily because he was unconventional. If anything, I think D'Antoni was smart as a coach to exploit and get the most out of his team's talents, but it wasn't like he taught Diaw what to do, rather Diaw did what he did and it was great for that team.
Pop has also credited Diaw a lot for his offensive creativity and spoken highly of him, as the smartest player in basketball. Watch this beauty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs7tOaG5VPo
I don't think we get Diaw traded for a wing like some people want. They just don't want to see any of Slo Mo or give a chance to the young kids. But Diaw is special.

Should have won this game, but who knows maybe the offseason wouldn't have played out the same way if we repeated. Bobo is always great to watch, when he hit that fadeaway in game 5 in LA at the buzzer I went crazy. Also, I think it was in game 3, Bobo put Griffin on skates but didn't finish at the rim.

Never understood how anyone would want him gone. To me that's when our turnaround began or re-birth began. He came onboard and our fortunes changed.

I personally think that Boris didn't play to his fulll potential in Phoenix and that the Suns would've been much more likely to ring had he done so. Conversely, he's been a heck of an X-factor for SA.

I'm still waiting for Diaw to become a coach at a point or another. Should quite an interesting experience.
Though the team will have to play in an anti NBA fashion.
Still have memories from the Pau-Orthez times when he was 18.

Warriors wouldn't have beaten a healthy Cavs team in the Finals. Irving went down, Love and Anderson V. out, LBJ was on a mission and almost pulled it off but got gassed. Cavs should be the favorites to win the East this season if they can stay healthy. The Warriors also didn't have to play the Spurs, Thunder or Clippers. Yes lots of things worked in the Warriors favor for sure.
Suns with a prime Nash are probably one of the better teams to not win it all in recent memory.

Yeah classic stuff.
I also remember he seemed to have a major beef with Larry Johnson. People's opinions vary on Walton, but I truly miss the weird flavor he brought to broadcasts

He called LJ a sad pathetic individual after Duncan raped him in Game 1 of the Finals. Then LJ started talking shit back about how Walton's family was slaveowners or some shit. It was a really weird exchange.

The Warriors were losing by 20 in a playoff game to the Pels. It wasn't a comeback more than a choke job, tbh. The Warriors went down 2-1 to a depleted Grizzlies. The Rockets were utter crap as far as conference finals opponents go. And yea, I could see a healthy Cavs team winning that series. I don't see lightning striking twice.

Well, LJ started the narrative calling the 99 Knicks "a bunch of rebellious slaves." And LJ has said very racist things since then, calling for an all-black league from his position as VP for the Knicks. Give props to Walton for taking out the trash when he then said this:
"Larry Johnson, who spent the last 48 hours railing against the world, what a pathetic performance by this sad human being. This is a disgrace to the game of basketball and to the NBA. He played like a disgrace tonight, he deserved it."
