-
Re: What are you current and next phones?

Next - G4? I like the G3, so I'd probably go with what I know.

V10 is already replacing the G4 as LG's new flagship phone.. but the G4 is straight and would probably be a lot cheaper
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
Current: S4
Next: idk
my contract has been up for a couple months. It just never feels like the right time to upgrade. Might try iPhone or that V10.
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
current: 5s
likely next: plus 6s, or might just wait for 7
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
Current: S6 active
Next: Don't really know. Don't keep up until I'm looking to upgrade.
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
Current: S5
Next: Dunno. Will see if they are still subsidizing phones with contracts in a year. Something free with a big screen.
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
Current: Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6
Next: No plans to upgrade for 2+ years

My nuggah
iPhone 6 for work? you hve to carry both phones every week day?
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
Looking at the features of the V10, I dont really see the need to upgrade.. Same 1440p screen, same Snapdragon 808 processor.. Same 4 GB of RAM.. Same manual camera features.. The only addition would be the 2nd screen, but I don't really see that as reason to jump.

Felt the same when reading up on it this morning. I'm a year in on my G3 and still plenty happy. I don't see any reason to get rid of it in the next year at the earliest.

Yeah iPhone 6 is the company phone. It's actually my primary phone tbh, my S5 doesn't even have a SIM. I just use it for whatsapp cuz I don't want that shit I have there on my company phone :lol

The only pros from the G3 jump to a G4 or V10 would be the double in screen resolution, and iirc the G3 isn't a "Quantum IPS" or whatever they market this shit as.. The camera is also better with the pro features.
The screen does make a fucking huge difference, people always trip out on how sharp and clear the images are on it, but I've already gotten used to it.

The Note 5 is massive. You should definitely handle it for a bit before you buy it. Hope you've got some big hands.

Nice. The G4 is seriously the largest phone I could ever imagine owning. It's right at the top end of what's comfortable for me to hold.

S5 is the biggest phone I can imagine owning tbh - :cry I have tiny girly hands
But again, we can adjust, and the knock on screen to wake up is convenient.
If Sammy doesn't go back to both removable battery and micro SD, my next phone will probably be LG

I get about 4 SOT with my G4, but it almost doesn't matter considering I have a spare battery sitting in my pocket the entire time.
The real value though, is that my phone's shelf-life isn't hard-wired to the battery that's in it. My Nexus 5 was starting to really show some signs of battery age at the end. With my G4, I can drop a new battery in and use it for as long as I please until I get sick of it because they found a way to mount SLR quality lenses into cell phones. :P

thats the beauty of it
Your battery dieded? you have a sealed phone?
Good luck :lol
One of my friend had an M8 and the screen got slightly separated because the battery swelled
:lol sealed phones
:lol paying 100 dollars extra for more storage, when it's possible to get a micro SD card for cheap

also, lithium ion batteries really haven't changed a whole lot in the last 24 years, which is sad. everything else leaps forward, but we are stuck with 20+ year old battery tech for all portable devices.

I hope the next Nexus in 2016 would be as good or better than the 6P. I'm off my contract on October 2016... Perfect time to buy a Nexus, if it's any good. Otherwise I'm staying with the Samsung Purse

It's way more annoying to have to wait for a phone to charge from an external than just slap a new battery in and go on your way. Internal batteries are smaller, also. The 3000mAh battery in the G4 is about as thick as a half dollar. Easy to port around. Most external batteries are larger and somewhat more cumbersome.

Lasts a long time before charges.

How do you guys like it so far?
Haven't made the switch from my S5 because :
- water resistant and dust proof
- removable battery
- extra storage
- people make fun of the ugly back, but its texture makes it really grippy
I do like some of the features of the S6 though:
- better camera for night shots and OIS (the S5 takes great daytime pics though)
- better fingerprit scanner
- OS theming : fuck Lollipop and its white background :flipoff; I had to download 3rd party dialer, SMS, file manager apps with dark theme options, because the stock ones have ugly/blinding white backgrounds
Other thant that, the S5 is still a great phone
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
I actually have an s6 personally and an s5 for work :lol
The s6 is great for all the reasons that you mentioned and up until a couple of weeks ago I would not have recommended it because of battery, but now, all of a sudden it lasts all day from about 7am and still has about 30% when I get home from work at ~6:30. No change in use, they must have fixed something. Now I'm pretty happy with it. I still want to go back to a nexus, but not as badly.
The s5 dialer is shit. I don't take pictures with it. I haven't even tried the fingerprint thing because someone told me it's terrible. The s6 is great for this. I use hangouts for messaging.. Other than that, I've left the s5 pretty much alone. I really only use that phone for mobile email. Most of the time I give my personal phone or for work purposes.

Did you recently get a firmware update?
As for the S5 fingerprint scanner it's not that bad tbh
The S6 one is just more convenient
I use ExDialer pro with a dark material theme lol

Iphone 6s. I've had it for a couple months now, it's alright. I think I'm only going to keep it for a year, then get the new Nexus next year.

Re: What are you current and next phones?
No removable battery, but better camera, bigger battery and micro-SD and water resistance

It's 0 bucks with Robbers , had some balance left on my contract but a friend of friend works at Robbers, going to cancel the balance fees.
Btw Pixel has no headphone jack.
Also, Bixby voice is cool tbh

Re: What are you current and next phones?
wifey needs a new phone. she's been attached to her bum-ass LG phone which is already falling apart 2 years after getting it :lol. we're not under contract (i would never finance a phone, that's just code for buying something i can't afford)
we've been with AT&T, currently paying about ~100/mo for our wireless/data plan between the two of us. no issues with the service, so no reason to switch out at this point. seeing that they currently have a BOGO deal on newer phones. i've had my iphone 6 for over 4 years now. still runs fine, but getting a newer phone wouldn't hurt.
only thing is, the BOGO deal requires you do be on an unlimited data plan, which for me would cost ~40/mo more than i'm paying now. granted, a "free" phone would basically make up for the first ~20 months of those increased payments, after which i'm stuck with an unlimited plan, when we barely use data (we're sharing 5GB/mo now, and have no issues with it)
thinking of just buying her a phone and being done with it, but then again while my phone is doing fine now, i'd probably be needing an upgrade in the next year or two anyway
edit: :lol if i'm understanding it right, you need to add a new line as well? fuck that

I switched out AT&T to a pre-paid for $40/mo (with autopay), and just buy the phones outright whenever I feel like doing so. Barely use any data, and if I go over whatever limit, it just throttles. No contract either.
I've an iPhone X, so, barring the battery swap in a year or so, I don't think I'll be upgrading any time soon. I also have a Xs Max with Verizon from work, and it's basically the same phone, tbh, just a bit larger...

Didn’t even know that was a thing. Seems like going prepaid is just objectively cheaper. From quick research main caveats are you can’t finance a phone (which i wouldn’t do anyway) and that supposedly you have lower priority for data when it bottlenecks, but we’re fairly exclusively on WiFi with the exception of using Navi on the road which barely uses data. Thanks for heads up.
Will look into buying at the store or through some service like Swappa, and ultimately switch to prepaid
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?
New phones are the biggest waste of money. Everyone wants to have the latest shiny new toy. But the hardware and software is pretty much the same as the model before. As long as you don't clutter up your phone with needless apps, that Iphone3 you had years ago will do the same stuff as your brand new $1000 Iphone 10. But you've now spent probably $5000 to have all of the latest versions.
-
Re: What are you current and next phones?

Had a 6S running on that IOS and had a plethrora of issues ranging from fast battery drain as well as not being allowed to download certain apps from the store because of incompatibility.

ive never encountered that issue, but i'm not that app crazy. i always install the new ios as soon as available, mostly out of habit. but my phone performance feels just fine after 4+ years. i wont get a new phone till the wheels fall off tbh
calls/texts/emails make up of probably at least 85% of my cell phone usage
