Re: I'm quitting ST because there's too much objectification of women
Obvious alt aside, I wouldn't mind a place where serious people gathered to talk basketball seriously and strategically. A place that had a higher level of discourse and not so filled with average people.
That being said, sports nerds are just as likely (if not more from personal experience) post half naked women. I don't think that its a big deal and hurts or helps discussions. Spurstalk is the fun allowed niche of spurs fan sites. Its just the way it is. You shouldn't change it into something its not.
Plus, the vast majority of women here are obviously consenting. They wanted to be seductive. This is actually an issue, because a lot of sex workers and models fight (some) feminists on this because some feminists think photos like these are exploitive, but the models and sex workers feel they do it intentionally and don't appreciate being told they are victims. To me it's not sexist or objectification to look at or enable or post sexual photos of women who chose to make these photos for that purpose.
Re: I'm quitting ST because there's too much objectification of women
I'd prefer to not see those kind of pics here. I like the signature ignore feat. Helps get rid of stuff without the need to complain or leave the site.
With that said, majority of pics here are from women who are intentionally posing half naked for some reason. They objectify themselves as much as the guys who post their pics.
Re: I'm quitting ST because there's too much objectification of women
What I find funny about people like this, they say "WE" are objectifying women. But isn't these WOMEN of their own free will are stripping down in their undies and nude as well. They're objectifying themselves. There just guys out there that just like to admire it. But don't blame them as they aren't the ones that took the photo or forcing some women to work in some whore house.
I think its immature to post half naked pictures of women as your sign, but when I was young I had posters of Anna Nicole Smith. It just things young guys do. Reminds me of one time I went to Cornerstone with my Aunt, who is a member, and Haggee referring to a young man that was dating his daughter as a Hormonal Hurricane. I thought that was hilarious. Because that is how most guys are in their teens and early twenties. Me, I more of a stoical nature, so I wasn't like that. But I did have a huge crush on Anna Nicole though.
Re: I'm quitting ST because there's too much objectification of women
This account's first post is a classic troll thread, during a time when Apo is on sabbatical, due to a hoax. And that doesn't strike you guys as too much coincidence?

I propose the following rules:

These simple rules would greatly improve this site.
Do you go into businesses and tell people how to do their jobs? Do you go into homes and tell people how to raise their kids?
If you don't like the suggestive images, disable signatures and 90% of the "pornographic" stuff will go away. The rest can be pretty easily avoided...unless you make threads like this.
If that's not good enough, I've got one other suggestion..

Go back to flogging yourself for "dirty" thoughts and leave this place.

sure things might be tasteless or shitty or whatever, but that's the world. Get with it and adjust. This forum is better than others because of this freedom.
Re: I'm quitting ST because there's too much objectification of women
If it offends, just go on your profile and block pics altogether. Then you only see them when you click on the link.

Hookers sucking users off from the comfort of their homes while viewing this board as a benefit couldn't save this fucking wasteland. There is nothing you can do with the sheer amounts of offensive retardation on this cesspool of a board.
Re: I'm quitting ST because there's too much objectification of women
Some free advice: disable the sigs or you will likely need to find another forum.
I disabled them some time ago because, not only were some so offensive, but some folks' were so long and ridiculous it took forever to get to the next post.
Recognize that lots of folks on this forum are of the fraternity, locker room, and/or high school gym class level of dealing with women.
The basketball culture promotes this. If you like the game (as I do) and are a woman (as I am), you just accept some of it as part and parcel of it. Not particularly appealing to those of us who are heterosexual females, but not worth getting upset about if you can just turn it off by disabling sigs.
Several years ago my husband and I took my brother to a Spurs game, and were lucky enough to get front row seats. As the Silver Dancers were prancing around on the court, my brother turned to my husband and said "Wow, all this - and a basketball game too!" And he was my BROTHER!! LOL.
Even though I may appear a bit inured to it all, at one game when the "Junior Silver Dancers" were strutting around the court, I did tell my son that if my granddaughter ever thought about aspiring to do something like that in public I would break both her legs myself.
Bottom line - just decide what you can put up with and what you can't, but please don't imagine that posters on a forum like this will be shamed into changing what they do or say. Trying it will have the reverse effect, as you can see from some of the posts already.
