Spurs simply ahead of the curve once again. Defenses today are designed to force mid-range J's, so the Spurs simply implemented a squad/system that will happily take & make em.

The only one still lagging offensively in our squad is Danny, from everwhere really. Missed some good looks tonight too, wide open... can't blame LMA.

Personally, what sticks out to me is how much we've shifted away from the 3 point shot.

Simmons has become more aggressive from 3, and he's looking promising early (work with Chip paying off hopefully?). He's not a threat from midrange, so encourage the 3 from him all the way. If he's run from the line, he will get to the rim easy.
Boris loves the midrange as well.

Nah. If you have length and good defenders on the perimeter a la Danny and kawhi you can contest the 3 point line well. Kawhi has proven to give curry trouble as do most defenders that stay in his space and have long arms. Our rim protection with Timmy is the best in the league and LA has proven more than capable as a post defender. You shut down layups and 3s with golden state and you can beat them, something we do very well.
Spurs are happy shooting 3s, we are happy shooting midrangers, and we are happy with post ups. The way this team is built and the way the offense is starting to form I don't think there's a team that matches up well with us right now
People talked about that a lot, actually. Giving the ball to midrange post-up guys was going to lead to this result. That's even more understandable given that Parker has slowed down enough to not live at the rim but is still good enough to be a solid third option. I'll give you that most of the people talking about it didn't think that the offense would allow itself to move this far in this direction, but the idea was there.Quote:
