:boboThanks for setting me straight... I was only seeing part of the picture!

Yeah, I don't think Aldridge makes it, even if his play steadily improves and the Spurs' record remains gaudy.
Projected starters: Griffin, Durant, Bryant, Westbrook, Curry
Projected reserves (locks): Leonard, Green, Paul, Harden, Davis, Thompson
Final spot will go to one of: Nowitzki, Cousins, Gasol, Aldridge
Thompson shouldn't be a lock, both because he started slow and because he's nothing more than an (elite) glorified role player, but the consensus will foolishly be that they deserve three for their gaudy record.
Nowitzki is a beloved figure, Carlisle is head of the coaches association and will inevitably campaign for him and they're seen as a surprise team.
Cousins is a despised figure, but he's also the best of the four and they should hang on the fringes of the playoff race because of how shallow the conference is.
Gasol also started slow and is neck and neck with Thompson as the most overrated player in the league, but he's beloved all the same and they could easily have the best record of the three.
Aldridge hasn't been the Spurs' second best player, but that doesn't matter; this is about perception. He'll need their record to stay gaudy to have an outside chance.
Take away the name and go by just the stats and TD has been a border-line all star in recent years at least by conventional standards. As for this year, KL came on a bit late and Blake is a bigger brand name. You may not like that; but merely saying it comes down to player support is over stated at best.
Griffin will be out for a significant amount of games. Kawhi will Grab the starters spot from him. He will make the team though because it is pretty aparent the coaches.care very little about All star games and treat it mostly for fans. He will will make it just like Durant made it last year despite missing so many games...but who knows though
Griffin-Dirk-Aldridge are the only real contenders for that spot.
It the spurs continue to win at the current pace, they should have 2 all stars imo
Kawhi is a lock, doesnt matter if he starts or not, on his resume he is gonna be a 1x time allstar. Aldridge needs to be the other player to represent the spurs tbh
Ive been all over facebook spamming for kiwi tbh
Would be nice to get 1 of the Big 3 in there with Kawhi, but Aldridge is probably more likely.
Merit has little to do with who starts, Griffin is more of a household name and casual fans probably account for the majority of the voting. Either way, they're both locks to be selected.
I think coaches do care because they know the majority of players do.
The best players should always be selected. Games played and who's having a better season to date should matter more with the final few spots.
Cousins and Gasol both have a chance. Really, Cousins and Aldridge should get the final two spots and Thompson should be left off, but that's not happening.
I made my picks today and clicked the link that uses some algorithm to predict player stats should my picks get to the All Star Game. Pretty accurate:

I dont care about votes. Were discussing how coaches value Allstar games.
