Before it's said and done he could very well end up the best TE of all times ahead of Gonzales etc. He is a force like the game has never seen and if he stays healthy he will hold a few records IMO. I am not a huge Pats fan but he is a beast.

Re: Were any of you rooting for the Broncos over the Patriots because of...
So... he's the greatest winner in professional football history because it's him and a bunch of scrubs or he's only considered great because the team has had unparalleled success while he just happened to be there? Spurs fans you're disappointing me, I thought we were collectively smarter than this.

This in the context of your post made me LOL! You started out nice, somewhat civil, then BAM!!! Too funny!

Same here man. Alabama graduate. How nice would it be to for the Spurs to win it all the same year Bama did? Roll Tide and GSG

Legit opinion. Understandable. It's weird how skewed the view of Tom Brady is out there given what I get to know as a closer observer. I dream of a SportsCenter conversation or something on Real Sports with Brady, Timmy and a competent interviewer because they're the same competitive type and they always put team and winning and winning team culture first and their teammates revere them in the same way for that reason. The fun part is that that both come from the same unlikely space as far as becoming the best players in their generation, even if the swimmer from the V.I. was a #1 pick and the Catcher from California was a 6th round pick.

TB/BB is surely also a lot like Phil and Kobe in that both pairs won a championships with with the only constant in the rosters being the player/coach combo. Football being football, the Patriots don't and can't have the kind of continuity the Best Big Three Ever have had.
So was signing Chad Johnson to be a savior at WR their Richard Jefferson move?
Their most impressive has been turning Brady into an all time great at QB in the sixth round. That said, there are more examples of football players developing out of later rounds throughout the draft, while basketball players are much easier to pin coming into the league. In other words, you're much more likely to find a game changer at the end of the first round in the NFL than in the NBA. Being able to remain dominant despite having ZERO picks inside of #20 since 1997 is unbelievable - will be at least 20 years as they won't be top 19 this year.

If the Spurs win it all this year, I will have to update all of my team gear. Got to get Los Angeles Rams gear, haven't had any for more than 18 years. New National Championship gear for Bama, and of course I would have to get more Spurs gear for 6. :lobt2::lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt2:. Best money ever spent is on stuff to celebrate when your team wins it all, from magazines, hats, banners and clothes.

Re: Were any of you rooting for the Broncos over the Patriots because of...
I respect the Pats success and didn't have a lot invested. I was really happy to see Broncos win. Manning is definitely more likable too.
:flag:Yeah Spurs just pulled away a bit as the most winning team in all sports in the last 15 years!!

Yea I'm looking to get one of those new black Alabama jackets (the same one Kiffin wore in the national championship). I have a few Spurs shirts but need to update. I did have a Robert Horry Spurs jersey but I have no idea what happened to it.

The Chad Johnson signing is more comparable to Tracy McGrady than to RJ. Ocho was never expected to have much of a role beyond being a veteran who might have a mile and a half or two left in the tank and did not last long in Foxboro.
I hope it's clear but can see where it wouldn't be, nobody here respects what the Spurs have done more than I do. It's just closer to the Patriots than your personal feelings about them may allow for you to recognize since you don't pay attention to both equally as closely and I do so I'm here in this thread to give the perspective of a Spurs fan for going on 40 years and a diehard Patriots fan as well. Mostly this is just serving as a fine distraction from the frustration of yesterday and the anticipation for tonight and for that I thank you guys.

Truth bomb.
The Eagles signing DeMarco Murray was more comparable to RJ than anything else, tbh...

Re: Were any of you rooting for the Broncos over the Patriots because of...
The comparisons - the reasons for the comparisons - are valid. It's an analogy... they don't have to be identical. If they were identical, they'd be the same team, and it wouldn't be an analogy. Oh, and you can't ignore the fact that both coaches are absolute assholes in interviews. That's a similarity they usually don't say out loud, but you know most people are thinking it.
I still like Peyton Manning more than Brady. I hate his asshole brother Eli, but I like Peyton. And I really, really hope Peyton can pull out one last win and shut Cam Newton up for a while.

That one hits too close to home as an Eagles fan. At least the Pats have four Super Bowls.

that's cool to see others who can't stand the patriots, in the NFL Forum I figure it's mainly just a few of us.
I've always hated the Spurs/pats comparison. What Spurs have accomplished is special imo, whereas pats have built something off of the shadiness and brilliance of Belichick and Ernie Adams. One day more shit about them will be exposed. They're a very successful team, but they've gotten away with a lot imo.
I've been a Manning fan since the early 00's, I just liked that he eschewed those stupid armband cheat sheets and later began calling his own plays to great success. He's not been perfect but he's elevated the game big time, plus is a funny and good person overall.
If nothing else, not having to deal with cheatriots douchebaggery at my SB party is such a great feeling, I really can't complain.
btw was I the only one who thought Brady got away with like 3-4 intentional groundings in that game? :lol

So a Peyton fan talking about cheating? My bad, those were his wife's PED's

Not really a Pats fan but I was rooting for them just so the haters would get upset.
Spurs/Pats comparisons are legit and I do have to respect what the Patriots have accomplished even though I don't really care one way or another about them.

:lmao This faggot clearly just started watching football in 2001 and doesn't watch unless the Cheatriots are playing. Claiming Gronkowski is the greatest tight end of all time is absurd. I'd take Gonzalez, Sharpe, Mackey, Ditka, Winslow or Gates in their primes easily over Gronk.
Gronk plays in an era where defense isn't allowed and looks like the Hulk compared to any player asked to cover him, yet every time he drops a pass, he throws his hands up and starts screaming at the refs for a call like Harden in the lane. He also has to resort to pushing off on half of his catches. He's a dumb meathead faggot who gets sucked dry by the media because he plays in their beloved Boston.

Really just one before they can have SOME cap savings cutting him. Most of the mess is guaranteed money next year and not a signing bonus, which is the silver lining.
Thankfully Howie has kept the cap really clean outside of Demarco (I'm actually fine with Maxwell). Nothing like the mess that Dallas managed itself out of and the Saints are deep in.
