Will Parker finish the season leading all PGs, SGs, & SFs in shooting?
Curry is close to him in field goal percentage because of the outstanding year he's having. Kawhi is also on his heels. Do you think either of those guys can overtake Parker and finish the season with the best FG% this season?

Re: Will Parker finish the season leading all PGs, SGs, & SFs in shooting?
There's 2 different questions, but I say yes to the one on the title

Liar. You just can't resist commenting on a thread that has Kawhi in the OP

Re: Will Parker finish the season leading all PGs, SGs, & SFs in shooting?
Shawn Livingston's 52.3% is beatable, I think... he has a good shot.

What I don't know is if he can pass Andre Miller's 61%...

Should have clarified...best FG% among players who have enough shots to qualify for the stat. With Livingston averaging <15 minutes a game and only averaging 2.6 made shots a game, most lists don't consider him. But good find!

Oooh, again, same with Livingston, but even worse. Averaging 3 PPG doesn't usually qualify a player, just like centers who go 1/1 from 3-point land for a season. Not a difficult concept, but one we miss sometimes.

Anybody that played over 20 games should qualify, tbh...

Lol Miller hasn't even attempted a shot and already played 20+ minutes for us

Not in the world of NBA stats.

ESPN set their own standard. I don't accept that. Miller at the end of the day is hooting 61%. :lmao

I guess I'm old school like that. I don't like getting into free-throws.

Why would you not use a stat that adjusts for the simple fact that 3 > 2?

It's called TS%. :lol

If it were just that, that would be one thing. But we all know the stat heavily favors players that shoot lots of free throws...TS% anyway. Your particular one may not. Like I've said, there are a million of these different advanced metrics. You can pretty much tell any story you want. I stick to things like FG%. Call me old-fashioned.

Re: Will Parker finish the season leading all PGs, SGs, & SFs in shooting?
.568TS% :lol
That probably is like 5-10 on the team tbh. :lmao

Players who get to the FT line are typically more efficient than those who don't. But regardless, look at eFG% (which doesn't take into account FTs at all, strictly 2-pointers and 3-pointers):

Yep, #8 on the team:
1. Bonner
2. Boban
3. Leonard
4. Simmons
5. West
6. Diaw
7. Butler
8. Parker
9. Ginobili
10. Mills
11. Aldridge
12. Anderson
13. Duncan
It's such a great stat.

How did I know that? :lol

"Call me old-fashioned" isn't an excuse for ignorance... :lol
FG% is in no way better than eFG%. A player who shoots 100 3's at a 40% clip will score more points than a player who shoots 100 2's at a 55% clip. There's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't include the added value of a 3-pointer when judging a player's shooting efficiency.

Your use of logic is not going to work here. But I'm not a TP hater so let them revere him, tbh.

Yes, that is another advanced metric. So far we've had about 4 different ones that give us 4 different lists.

Fouls too. The ability to drive and get in position where the opponent needs to foul is an art too.
-

If he shoots 20% and we win #6 I love him too, tbh...
-
Re: Will Parker finish the season leading all PGs, SGs, & SFs in shooting?
TS% is the ability to score. Better than eFG and raw FG%.

Fair enough, Parker is a better scorer than Ginobili, Aldridge, Duncan, and Mills this year if you go by that. But obviously the stat can't adjust for players that play low minutes...that's just one of it's weaknesses.

We add context. Usage and TS% usually have an inverse correlation.

Re: Will Parker finish the season leading all PGs, SGs, & SFs in shooting?
It has as much merit as Tony leading the team in 3P% last season.
-
Re: Will Parker finish the season leading all PGs, SGs, & SFs in shooting?
Nice job by Tony but Steph probably passes him and if Kawhi continues the trend of playing better after the ASB he'll pass him as well. Still, top 3 and behind the top 2 MVP candidates isn't a bad thing.
