Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Huge home stretch of games coming up..they will get a soft matchup vs. a bad Bulls team on Thursday, but then 3 of the next 4 will be against 3/5 of the top teams in the NBA..
THU- Chicago
SAT- OKC
TUE- LAC
THU- Portland
SAT- Golden State
I'll go with the homer 5-0 pick, tbh:lol
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
3-2, losses against OKC and the Dubs tbh.
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
5-0 if Parkers toe doesn't heal.
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
2-3 if the current trend holds true of us shriveling against the best. If the team plays with intensity and starts thinking playoffs from here on out, I'd gladly go with the 5-0 homer pick.
-

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Heart says 5-0, head says 3-2, tbh... I think we win the CHI and POR games, and one of LAC/OKC...
Main issues right now is Manu getting back in shape, Tony banged up, integrating Miller and possibly KMart. Also TD's knee is a question mark...
The good news is I envision guys like Patty and potentially Danny performing better at home.
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
4-1. I think we lose to the Dubs, but lol @ this stretch being tough when the Spurs are at home. The only team that matters is the Dubs.
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Imagine we go 3-2 and the losses would be to the Bulls and Blazers. That isn't out of the question, tbh.
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
4-1. Only loss to the Dubs where we choke away a huge lead and lose in OT, causing the media to declare our season officially over.
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
2-3 losses to clips/okc/GSW
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
The Clippers and Warriors games will be revenge matchups, I think we'll see a determined Spurs team, or at least I hope..obviously the Warriors are good enough to win any game, though..
OKC is 18-12 on the road..would be pretty disappointing if the Spurs lose, but I suppose a poor effort is possible, since they haven't met since game 1 of the RS..
-

With Curry hitting a 50 footer with his eyes closed and Speights hitting 5 threes in the game...
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
No b2b, no serious injury, no travel. There's no reason to not go undefeated. I hope they don't fuck it up.

Clips are a nightmare matchup for the Spurs, though. If there's a team that can end the home streak first, it's them. We're lucky to have beaten them the first time around.

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
I'm in town for this.
I expect 4-1, with the loss being either OKC or GS.

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Looking forward to this. It will be a litmus test of how good this team really is.
If we go 5-0, and tattoo GS in the process, that 30 beatdown by Wardell and Co. will be a distant memory.
I don't expect it, though. I like this team, but as TD21 said, "Something feels 'off' with them."

4-1 we lose to the Clips, CP3 with yet another monster game.

How do you guys think the forum would react if:
4-1 with the only loss coming vs. the Warriors
2-3 or 1-4 with the only W against a decent team coming vs. the Warriors
:lol
I think most people here would be disappointed with a 4-1 record if the only L is vs. GSW, tbh..

Yep. Means nothing if we don't grab a win against them. They've looked beatable (blown out by the Lakers, tested at home by Orlando), but I really think they're coasting. And the team was probably hungover on Sunday from clubbing out in LA.

Draymond Green's birthday was Friday night and they were in LA:lol..definitely the reason they lost..
They have definitely looked vulnerable, but their record vs. the other top teams is disgustingly good..

Don't particularly care, tbh... From what I read, I don't think the players care about these games much either...
I think the Spurs are just focused on getting better and better, and hopefully getting healthy. I'm pretty sure guys like Tim, Bobo are already bored of the regular season...
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Don't forget GS is on a B2B. 4-1 is the most likely outcome if you ran the Vegas odds on each game (not line, but % win implied), but they'll be favored in all the games.

I think there is definitely some Regular Season boredom among the guys that have rings(outside of Kawhi, who is trying to get to MVP status), but the career losers like Aldridge and Kevin Martin could use some reps in high-pressure(relatively speaking, by Regular Season standards) games IMO..
Warriors, in particular, are the most hyped team since Jordan's Bulls..I think all the Spurs could use a confidence boost against them, including the big 3 and Pop..
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
If we don't grab a win against the Warriors on a second night B2B, and after that 30 point pasting, shit would be demoralizing, tbh..
I'll take 4-1 with one L to OKC or the new pain in the ass that is Paul and Clippers

5-0 would be pretty extremely impressive...I'll go with 4-1 with a loss to either OKC or Golden State. Would be fine with 3-2 as long as one of those wins comes against Golden State.

If K-Mart is available & Porky is still out then the Spurs should be fine otherwise Porky/Danny will get raw dogged by CP3/ReDick.:lol Hopefully, Porky will be back for the Blazers game b/c Lillard can't check him.:lol

OKC will be on a home-away B2B against a Spurs team playing w/ a rest day & no travel. Same for the Worriers except they will be traveling from Dallas to SA.
So, a 5-0 home stand is realistic as long as Porky doesn't fuck it up (He better not return for the Bulls game b/c that will be one of those national TV Ls:lol)

Wouldn't mind if the Spurs go 4-1 & the only L is to OKC so they stay as the 3rd seed.:lol
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
We are capable of winning them all, but probably won't bc Pop doesn't have the urgency of seeding and neither do the players like ElNono said, who have repeatedly stated they don't care about catching GSW and are focusing on improving as a team.
+ I find Pop still experimenting this late in the season bc of the new additions and despite most dismissing Anderson there is still a lot of testing to be done bc him and Butler were a big part of our defense when you had to bench Timmy bc of the presence of mobile shooting bigs who bomb away from 3 and Butler might be the odd man out (I still find cutting him tough bc as a situational player against these kinds of teams he even closed our games for us and provided surprising rim protection for a man 6'8.) POP did not go to Boris against these kind of matchups. Maybe he feels like he can survive and make do with Boris/ Anderson, but in that case, if there is any conceivable scenario where you think you will need Anderson you have to get him ready for that.
Would not even surprise me if we get a CIA Pop style malady from someone.
So I am getting ready for the meltdowns.
All that matters is us getting better, CIA Pop finding out whatever he wants to find out, trying the new guys in different lineups (fir example if you foresee the need for Martin with the starters at some point you have to play them together and test that out.)
We probably drop a couple bc combination of CiA Pop, Manu still getting in his groove against good/elite competition, and we can't dismiss said good competition's motivation to kick our asses.
-

May as well say 5-0. But if the Spurs lose to the Dubs it will be the beginning of the end.
I'll tell you what is crazy is if you look out on court and see a line-up of LMA, West, Miller and Martin with Simmons. Totally different from last year.

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Honestly all I care about is blowing OKC out and fuckin up Warriors badly. U know pop wants to stick it to them and has been showing that warriors blow out game every fuckin time he thinks his team doesn't remember it. It's like when pop kept showing the game 6 2013 finals over and over again. Yes I would like to win every game but if we lose to clippers no big deal for me but OKC AND DUBS IS A MUST WIN AND STICK IT TO THEM. I don't want anymore fuckin curry shimmy shakes. Kawhi will take it personal and break him in half. LMA will posterize Drey and take it to him. I see David west getting into it with Drey and bogut. I'm telling u west is going to speak up before the team and take no prisoners. He didn't take $10mil pay cut to go down without a fight. I see Drey, bogut and west getting T's and bad blood. Everyone will be like oh I can't wait for the next show down. I'm thinking if Martin gets in and can learn quickly of the sets. I can see a lineup of LMA,KAWHI,GREEN,MARTIN AND MANU OR MILLER. I CAN ALSO SEE SIMMONS SUBBING IN FOR GREEN TOO. DOnt forget but Miller is a great passer and with that lineup on the court, we struggled to get the ball to LMA on the post up because Drey was picking it off. Either way Parker won't see much action in this game, unless he is going up against barbosa. It's gotta be Miller, mills or Manu running the PG.

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
I'll go 5-0, with the Thunder game being the toughest.
Even though they just beat the Clippers, they've still struggled mightily against elite teams and in general recently, so they'll have a high level of motivation, plus they're due to play better and always play with supreme confidence against the Spurs. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocated.
Since the Clippers game should be fresh in their minds, plus the Clippers being due for some regression, I'd expect the Spurs to have the motivational advantage.
Though clearly better than widely believed, arguably no one is due for some regression like the Trail Blazers. It's ongoing as we speak and should continue.
That leaves the Warriors. Due in large part to the over hyped blowout from January, the Spurs will play with playoff like intensity. They'll probably feel like they need it more for their own psyche than anything. As such, I suspect the game plays out similar to the one last April.
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Obviously, I'd like to see them go 5-0, but I just thought about something...
Our 5th to last and 3rd to last games are against the Warriors...the first at Oracle, the 2nd at home.
I know this is unlikely, but I think it would be hilarious if we ended their home streak (especially if they end ours) and give them their 10th loss, then turn around and hand them their 11th loss two days later :lol
I doubt they'll lose 3 more games between then and now but just a pretty crazy scenario to think about
-
Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
Solid win last night...2-0 so far on this homestand :tu
Iguodala is out for 2 weeks with an ankle sprain so he'll miss the game on Saturday. Obviously GS is still extremely dangerous without him, but honestly we really should win that game at home. If we can just not shit the bed against LAC (a big "if" unfortunately), I think 5-0 has a good chance of happening.

Yep..Iggy is their 4th most important player, and they are still without Ezeli(100x better than Varejao or Speights)..a loss would be pretty demoralizing, despite being just a RS game, considering the Warriors have serious injuries and the Spurs just lost to them in embarrassing fashion..

Clippers getting rolled at home by Cavs..Another team that will come out for blood against us next :bang..

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
This home stand against the best of the West may be the catalyst that forges this team into a Championship contender. To get that final edge, you take a sword from the kiln and plunge it into cold water. We've seen it here five times before. A really good team suddenly acquires an identity, a swagger, a trust among the guys and a belief that they can win it all--a Championship team personality if you will.
I think last night was more important than just another home win. Who really gives a shit about a home win streak? The important thing was they got behind in game where the shots weren't falling and kept working their tails off on defense and came from behind to beat OKC. Do you realize how demoralizing that is for OKC. The Spurs shot a horrible percentage but still beat them by holding them under 90 points!!!!!!
I remember the 99 team as a team that wouldn't quit. I don't know how many times they came from behind to win a game, but it got to the point where you felt like, "Oh boy, we're behind in the 4th. We have those bastards right where we want them." That was their personality.
New team, new go to guys, Big 3 still around and contributing. I don't know how far this team will go--but I'm gonna sit back and enjoy the ride.

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
I think I'll be pretty surprised if the Spurs lose on Saturday, tbh..seems strange to say, considering they are going against a team that is on pace to break the all-time wins record, but with Iguodala/Ezeli out + homecourt + the motivation the Spurs will be playing with following the 30-point embarrassment, a loss would be pretty disappointing..

Re: Predictions: 5-game homestand..
You guys know Lillard is gonna be looking to prove a point to LMA on Thursday, right? They had problems last year and then LMA takes an ASG spot over him this year. I see Lillard going off and scoring at least 30. It will be a tough one with the Spurs looking ahead to Saturday. We'll pull it off, but it will be tough.
