He's a career loser and one of the softest players in the NBA, but he should be nice in his role with the Spurs..
All his previous teams expected him to be a primary option, which wasn't possible with his lack of defense and FT-reliant style of play(which doesn't work in the playoffs), but he should thrive in a 4th wing scorer role..

Has a team ever relied on Rasual Butler to be a primary option in his luxurious NBA career?

Agreed, in a limited role, he'll score in bunches. I'm excited to see his cutting ability as we've lacked that since Beli got his payday.

Hopefully the competition gets Green going like we saw in 2013-2014 when Pop inserted Beli into the SL, too..

The more i see highlights of him, the more excited i am getting. i mean if he was being signed to be a savior, then yeah we're screwed. but he at most will be a 20min per game player. I think he will excel in his role off the bench and he will add some even more depth on an already deep bench.
At least Martin is still in shape, unlike McGrady's fat ass, tbh:lol

I'm super hyped to get him tbh, always been a fan of his in the past. I think he will be the difference maker in the playoffs.

if he'll be able to make open threes I'll be happy. He should be much better on offense than Danny, sucks that he can't really play defense.

I'm pumped for this, our SG position has been very flat and inconsistent this year.
Hopefully we can give him a run as a starter before playoffs and see how he goes.

Green is struggling from the arc but his defense is still important. And due to that, he will remain a vital piece of our championship run. If he can find his shot by some miracle, we will be become that much better.
but Martin off the bench i think will be great. we'll see how Pop decides to use him

If Klay can be the 2nd best player (by default) on a championship squad then K-Mart should be fine in a Barbosa role.:wakeup

He is a nice pickup especially at 6'7" , but I'm suprised his shot is not blocked more with that akward shot, then again that's probably how he draws his fouls.

Wolves went with the youth movement early on. He actually had a 37pt game before he fell in the rotation. Highest a Spur has scored this season is 36 by Lamarcus

The same shyt that happened to Stephen Jackson when he was on the Bucks before the Dick Jefferson trade: rotting on the bench b/c he was no longer part of their future plan.

Re: Silver Sanctuary of Kevin Martin
I am hoping that he can bring some much needed scoring. Green is far too streaky and he is inconsistent inside the arc. This season he has also been inconsistent beyond the arc. The Spurs needed a player that is a threat inside and out. To eliminate Green on offense all it takes is a good closeout to force him to dribble in and the offense stalls. Can't do that against Martin because he can kill you outside and inside.

But, if a team needed a defensive minded forward, Butler would be better.

Re: Silver Sanctuary of Kevin Martin
Gotta admit that I am psyched for the possibilities for Martin. One possible/probable outcome is that
Green turns up the intensity by having a capable replacement behind him. Green seems to have responded well to
pressure coming from within the team. This team desperately needs to become more of a 3pt threat. When/if that happens,
we can compete with anyone. We lose a bit of defense, but we are fine in that respect. Kmart is a good fit for our needs now.

If he plays well he could be back next year. Duncan/Gino will likley retire.

His form is awful but the release seems to be quick enough to offset it. He never could have hit that many 3s if the form was bad enough to be unusable.

His form is rough but it's a non factor. Doubt Chip does much to it since he's had success from behind the 3pt line.

Can't wait for his first 3 to drop.
If Martin comes in and starts hitting shots right away, Green will go the way of Bruce Bowen and find himself on the bench OR with less playing time. His defense hasn't been good enough to make up for his lack of offense. Green's play may not hurt the Spurs against lesser teams but against some of the potential playoff opponents, it will.
I think you can let that go already. This dude hasn't done squat yet.
If and when he does show up in a few playoff games and hit a few Marco Belinelli sized ballsy shots for us I will give you props, for now I reserve the right to be skeptical.
Hopefully he does for us what Pop is hoping he can do.

Not going to speak for Chinook, but I believe he questioned his fit in our offense.
Regardless, not going to get on any of you all's feud. Just let's see the man play b4 we crown him. I wasn't gaga about Butler either. He was a situational player with usefulness in some matchups. Martin is something else. I think he offers whatever Pop was hoping to get from Jimmer, but Jimmer didn't provide it and got cut. I think Martin has much better chances of bringing that instant offense, but I want to see it when it matters b4 I join this congregation. :lol

You seem like an intelligent poster and I respect that..
I somewhat respect Chinook but he gets emotional and either loves or hates a player (Danny Green/Kevin Martin) and sometimes speaks with his heart and not his brain..
We can get Green and Martin screen for each other. Looking forward to this!

Re: Silver Sanctuary of Kevin Martin
Martin is going to be a great pick up for the Spurs. He's not afraid to shoot the ball from 3 and can also drive to the basket. He's more than just a perimeter shooter, he's a scorer. The Spurs - no matter how good their defense is - will need more points against the likes of Golden State.

Re: Silver Sanctuary of Kevin Martin
The scary thing is he will probably more open than he has ever been in his career if he can just knock down the shots. He averages in his career 17.6 ppg and just last season averaged 20ppg. Didn't have the same numbers this year since he didn't play as much. It was a huge upgrade with this move.
