Tim works in mysterious ways.
Crawford, Holt, and Butler all gone in the same day. Such a range of emotions....
:lol @ bum's comment tbh
The Halloween pic would have worked, too.

Joey's been rightly maligned for a lot of his antics, but he's also been one of the greatest officials the league has ever seen and when he elected to just call games, he was pretty damned accurate (despite some high profile misses). He'll retire as the far-and-away leader for officials games worked in many categories, including his (at least) 361 playoff games and his 50 Finals games (the next closest to him among active officials is Danny Crawford at 31; if Danny worked 2 Finals games every year, it would take him 11 years to catch up). Other than his 2007 (when he was suspended for the Duncan incident), Joey worked at least 1 game in every Finals series between 1986 and 2015.
Legacy aside, his departure means that some of the other officials will move up the ranks another notch come playoff time. I guess we'll find out if those guys are ready for it or not.
Playoffs just got harder
Yeah, Joey has actually been better to the Spurs in recent years...probably because he knew he couldn't afford another high profile incident involving San Antonio.
Still, after the Duncan ejection and the no-call on Fisher in 2008 WCF....good riddance.
Hopefully they'll be ready to call obvious fouls like this one Joey swallowed his whistle on.

Can he take Ed Malloy with him?
Good riddance you filthy motherfucker!
And that's only the second worst. There's also this one...

I'd still like to knock that little cue ball head with a pool stick... preferably the fat end of the pool stick, tbh.
So that one gets swallowed, but the one on iguadala okc vs GSW with far less contract gets blown.
Worse part was media talking heads saying Barry didn't sell it enough. These are the same people that were crying about Manus "flopping". Just goes to show you, they have they're favorites and are always gonna move goalposts. Fans, I understand, but media is supposed to be unbiased.
Off topic, but while not Joey or as egregious, I thought this was a foul too:

I would have taken him for Game 7 at Oracle..Joey is the the best "road team" referees in NBA..
The very obvious calls/non-calls by refs in several finals series always makes me remember that the product being sold is entertainment, not purely basketball.
The Fisher non-call, all of the Heat calls/non-calls, etc. etc. etc. The most obvious and egregious of all of them imo was the iconic basket by Michael Jordan to win that series against Utah when his game winning basket came right after his offensive foul against Byron what's-his-name (can't remember the guy's last name, but Jordan knocked down to get his shot off).
The media and the NBA are selling entertainment. Having a record setting team with a record setting guard à la Curry is likely to sell more tickets and TV shares than the team that has been winning steadily for years with an under-the-radar, fundamental basketball approach that is great for the informed fan, but not as glitzy as the youngster who can't miss from anywhere on the court.
We need to remember this fact when the time comes for playoffs.
He's a good road ref. Could have used him this year in Oracle tbh...
Yep, one of my favs
