Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
Just a thought. What if Pop and Steve got together and rested players on their road game to the other's home court? Both go 41-0.
Now that would be a good laugh at the former commissioner. (Refuse to call his name)
Do you think Adam Silver would have the balls to fine them both?

Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
LOL... Sean talking about how Pop is likely to treat the GS game like any other B2B, and only think about how to rest guys to get ready for the playoffs. It would almost be worth the L, just to sit back and watch the epic fucking meltdown if the Dubs go 41-0 and the Spurs don't.
What's the over/under on how many "Fire Pop" threads would get created?

Then Pop goes out and puts this burden in the young players. Psychological group pressure.

We can just keep Elnono thread going TBH. There will be a few losses b4 the playoffs. POP doesn't care about the record bc we are stuck at 2 and it appears he's still developing guys. If guys want a home record or whatever they have to show up and play. I hope it doesn't come back and bite us in the behind but he's doing these things for a reason.

Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
Some would say the 41-0 at home would put a target on our back for the playoffs thus better to lose one.
Others, for example Bobby Knight when he has some undefeated Indiana teams, said he thinks it can be so good for the confidence that you begin to think and play like you cannot be beaten. Not some arrogant nonsense but genuine confidence showing itself on the floor.
I say they go for it, echoing plenty of road games to rest.

I said it earlier, but the one and only benefit would be if the Spurs could put some doubt in the Warriors about their ability to win in the AT&T Center, by winning both of those regular season games. They know how good of a team they are, but the Spurs could still possibly get in their heads about that one thing.
I think the rest of it is meaningless. The Spurs also know that they are a good team, and there isn't another team in the league this year that should be able to win a series against them. If I were Pop, I wouldn't think for a second about 41-0 at home. But I would go all-out against the Warriors at home. And even if the Warriors came out on top, I would make it hurt.

Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
You don't need a target on your back in the playoffs. :lol

Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
In fact you probably don't want to be the refs for the home game we do lose. Lots of scrutinization tbh. We'll get more calls at home if we have a 41-0 record.
-
Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
Tonight's game at Utah was a good example. How many times this year did it look like the Warriors might be about to drop a game on the road, but then won it in the last few minutes? The Spurs could send a message: "That shit might work everywhere else, but not in our house." That's the one and only justification I can see for going 110% at any of the remaining games.
This was always an all-in kind of season, but it sure as hell wasn't all-in for regular season home court record.

Seriously, regular season records and feats mean nothing. They are good for second grade teams who can't contend for the true and only prize: a ring.

Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
i dont care all that much... i mean GSW are also undefeated at home
if we dont ring, its not like ima remember this as "the season we went undefeated at home"

Got damn son.

Sure.
The refs see 40-1 and it's an .... Offensive foul on Leonard.
That loss at home, if it were not for that loss at home, that's a blocking foul.
Christ...

I could see that scenario being more of a case in Oracle, though. If we're threatening their 41-0, it's an offensive foul on Leonard. If they're threatening ours... it's an and 1.

Re: How important is 41-0 at home?
sucks for the Spurs that this is an amazing feat that nobody will remember because it happened in the same season the Dubs set the all-time wins record lmao
