Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
Quick turnaround as we're in OKC tonight to take on a 50-32 Thunder team who have won their last 6 in a row. Tony, Timmy, Manu, Kawhi, and LMA are all out tonight, so yea. Let's try not to get blown out too badly and and screw up our league-leading point differential :downspin:. Not much more needs to be said. Let's get it.

Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
With Timmy, Kawhi, Manu, Tony, LMa, the coyote, and the major of SA out tonight, Spurs will have to use Boban. They need to tell him they're up by 20 so he can feel at home performing.
Either that of the Spurs get blown the crap out tonight.

Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
Should've let Amused start the game thread.
1) Your W/L ratio is gonna take a hit
2) Maybe Amused's curse will hit Kyle

Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
This really depends on the starting lineups. I think a Miller/Green/Martin/Bonner/Marjanovic unit would work pretty well, especially since it would allow the Spurs to keep their second unit mostly intact. Only issue is that I'd probably prefer Boban to go up against Kanter, and Pop will probably start either Anderson or Simmons. So that isn't going to work.
-
Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
Boban goes for 30/20, Green has 24/7/6/5/3, Bobo has a triple double, and the Spurs win by 25. I'm from the future, I can confirm this happens.

Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
Hopefully it's entertaining. This is a house money free game. Okc may want it more, to avoid getting the dubs in the second round. Spurs should be ok with that.

Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
The team will either surprise like that Spurs team that almost beat Lebron's Heat team short-handed or get blown the fuck out and pretty much destroy any chance we had to beat the point differential record. Either way, it's a scheduled loss.

Im actually fascinated to see what happens tonight. I wish we still had Butler to bolster our defense and athletecism on the wings, but im interested to see what KA, AM, KM, and other pieces do against this squad.
Everytime i see Bonner on the court im gonna be a little more pissed off.

Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
I actually wonder if the media/Warriors fans will try to equate a Spurs' loss in this situation to GS' loss to SA. Like, "The Warriors didn't have all their guys either, but at least they were able to make it a game."

Me too.
Frankly a big development opportunity for Simmons/Anderson/Boban.
I remember last season a game against the Mavs where Pop played only 8 guys. Anderson guarded Chandler Parsons b4 he was the cripple he is this season. He had a decent game. We lost but were far from blown out and were within striking distance in the 4th before Monta Ellis killed us. http://www.nba.com/games/20141220/SASDAL/gameinfo.html
OKC is a much better team than that Mavs team, but this collection of bench players is better than the one that went to Dallas last December. Pop usually makes these guys play hard. Simmons/Anderson/Boban specially should be very motivated.
It is scary but I don't think we get blown out. Much will depend on Boban having a good game though.

You would think they have bigger fish to fry- then again they are chasing a bunch of regular season records. I can only hope this gives us the edge to be that much more focused and rested when it matters.

Re: Game Thread: Spurs @ Thunder -- Sat. (3/26) - 7:00PM CST (2:00AM Riga Time)
Spurs being without all their guys is basically what we were dealing with when we played against you guys lmao SA is missing a 1 or 2 extras but thats negated by the Dubs playing their 6th game in 9 days
Lets see how they do on the road against a top team, I bet they dont put up a fight like we did

Playing hard and together is the key to make a game out of it when severely shorthanded..obviously we have have too many new parts who don't have the chemistry of previous seasons team and combined with OKC being a top 3 offensive squad in the league, it is going to be extremely difficult to hang with them...Thunder are locked in 3rd seed, i don't know why Donvan isn't resting one of Westbrook/Durant upon hearing Pop decision ...:lol.

I think because Pop has a reputation for making these games a challenge and if he doesn't play those two, frankly Pop squad is not above kicking the roleplayers butt. You just can't take Pop's bench for granted.

Kanter is actually a bad matchup for Boban. Kanter has range all the way to the 3 point line & WestBrick will force a switch on the Kanter PnR. Adams is just as good an offensive rebounder so might as well stick Boban on Adams since he can't score outside the paint & rarely runs PnR w/ Westbrook.
The Spurs just have to gang rebound when Kanter is in the game if he's matched up w/ Diaw (Kyle is actually a very good rebounder).

no he's not playing and neither are LMA/Tim/Tony/Manu. I'd go to sleep if I were you. Its a guaranteed loss, the interest is really to see some players develop, and there is a a real possibility that won't be a pretty picture either.
