Apparently Thunder are playing thug ball this offseason.
One thing is obvious, Pop can't play the West/Diaw frontline against Kanter. Should have either Tim, LMA or even Boban on the floor AT ALL TIMES whenever Kanter/WestBrick are on the floor otherwise they are going to feast in the paint w/ no rim protector ala the Mavs series.

This is going to be the series where Tim becomes indispensable, he intimidate Westbrick when the Spurs shutdown OKC at AT&T. It was also interesting that Pop put Danny on Durant & Kawhi on WB during that game just like he did after Gm 4 in the 2014 series.

Some Random thoughts
- Kanter is a real concern if this team is going to play West and Diaw significant minutes.
- Boban might see some minutes in this series
-Gotta take advantage of Andre Roberson and Crowd Duant/Westbrook when Roberson is on the floor
- Need to penetrate a healthy amount. OKC is a terrible perimter defensive team plus their bigs are stupid. Ibaka has a fake age, he hasnt been that good on help defense this year. Attack a healthy amount

Kawhi averaged 28 ppg in 3 games against OKC this season.
But Pop will ruin his offensive game in the series resting him 20 minutes a game, allowing Parker dribble-dribble-dribble vs Westbrook, force-feeding LMA/Diaw in the paint, and playing DWest/Bobo against Kanter/Adams rebounding beasts.

Kanter has been playing like a beast offensively / on the boards, but is still a pretty big negative defensively. Need to get him into pick and roll or post him up.
Help off Roberson as much as you'd like. He's better from the right corner, but still a combined 28 of 82 from the corners (34%) and even worse away from the corners (http://vorped.com/1-nba/2015-2016/pl...son/shotchart/). Similar in past years too. I wouldn't be surprised to see more Morrow when the Spurs have Green on the floor (http://vorped.com/1-nba/2015-2016/pl...row/shotchart/), but he can't guard anyone with playmaking ability.
Look for plenty of driving and dishing to whoever Ibaka is guarding. He loves to over help, and Lamarcus/Timmy/Diaw/West should get open looks on dishes.

I feel like this is the series where Boban gets the 2014 Baynes minutes (Pop played him to keep Lopez off the offensive boards)

Pop hid Porker on Roberson when he put Danny on KD. (Waiters has been playing well & might go Lance against the bench just like he raw dogged Tony during the season opener: Hide Patty on Foye/Singler & let Manu/Kyle check Waiters)

OKC is undisciplined so Porky need to attack in transition otherwise he's going to be in "dribble-dribble" mode when he sees Ibaka/Adams parked in the paint. Porky was also getting schooled by Payne (who is injured) during their most recent matchup.:lol

Spurs lost the season opener b/c Porker REFUSED to attack Kanter on switches & Diaw/West got murdered by Kanter in the paint. Otherwise, Kawhi manhandled Durant:
Kawhi also outplayed Durant (especially in the 4th quarter) when the Spurs beat OKC @ AT&T:

Like I mentioned, he's injured: Payne (hip) completed the Thunder's morning shootaround and looks to be available for Monday's Game 2 matchup with the Mavericks, Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman reports.
It seems like Singler has been phased out of the rotation & Waiters is playing more minutes. Patty can still hide on Foye though as he's playing backup PG.

Spurs should be able to beat them in no more than 6. If they brought the same play as they did in the second half today against the Grizz they shouldn't have much problems. Hope to see Green on Durant, and Kawhi on Westbrook and some Boban instead of West!

Re: On to the 2nd Rd: Spurs/OKC
Spurs have 5 days to practice since the second round wont start until next weekend. Should be ample time to really hammer in the offensive game plan and get everyone on the same page. Did not like what I saw in the Grizzlies series. If the Spurs play like that against the Thunder, they will give the Thunder a good chance of winning the series.
At this point though, the woes better be cruising/just being out of sync because of the resting at the end of the season. If the Spurs have hit their peak though, they might be able to squeeze past the Thunder but they'll hit a wall against the Warriors (if everyone's healthy).

OKC is proving once again that they are mentally weak in this Mavs series. And to those people who dogged Scotty Brooks around here (deservedly so) now we got Billy D which is even better for us. I think their athleticism and scoring abilities will be extremely tough, but I think we'll prevail. Spurs in a long, nail biting, Spurstalk classic cliff diving, then back on the bandwagon after a game 7 victory.

This is what I am worried about. Parker is a liability against OKC. He struggled to score against Farmar and Munford and people expect him to improve his offense against OKC?!
Does anyone remember rookie Cam Payne and Waiters scoring on Parker this season, with ease. I expect Roberson to score on him now too. I think that's what all the scouting reports say about Parker on D, post him up or take him one on one. Also Boban needs big minutes against OKC for rebounding alone and pnr with Mills and Manu.

I'm really worried about how the Spurs will deal with OKC's bigs. Kanter/Ibaka/Adams are going to be a real pain in the ass in this series. I also figure Waiters will go ape shit JR Smith style in a couple games.
Really need a big series from Kawhi and Aldridge. Ibaka scares the Spurs from attacking the paint so hopefully SA's outside shooting continues to improve. This is going to be a bad matchup, but hopefully Spurs can end it in 6. If Spurs only split on the first two home games this series will go 7.
