Great call. Also validating why they paid Green. Even without his great offensive output tonight. Was very active on D.

Serious discussion Slomo.

Green was a bargain. Everyone thought he would get paid more than he did.

Sure. But for a large part of the season, it seemed a little iffy.

Only to those of little faith. He was outperforming guys like Batum based solely on his defense this season, and Nic is going to get more than LMA did.

Not sure why anyone would be concerned about Green. His contract could easily be moved in this league. He's a great defender and previous to this year was a great 3pt shooter. Teams would love to put him next to their star player and hope he can regain his shot.

Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
He inhaled Westbrook's soul tonight:claw

Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
We will see what happens next game but I had a feeling sooner or later they would turn it on

Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
Well, Danny playing like a boss on Durant allows Pop to stick with that too. Those two (DG/KL) are just so boss to have on your team :lol

Sure you can move him but that's for the future. His poor performance earlier this year affected them negatively more than any other player's performance. His defense is great but for the Spur's system to really work, he has to be able to knock down shots. He can't really take the ball to the bucket effectively and isn't a good mid range shooter. It's fantastic that he's got it going now. But he could have turned into Wes Matthews.

what kind of spurfan types "westgod" replace that donkey sucking vocab you got from Harlem and type 10x "westshit, westshit,........then transition to wet shit, wet shit.

Sure, Durant and Westbrook will score more than 30 points combined next games. But having our two-time DPOY and the Spurs being #1 on D this season, make me feel confident about this series.
-
Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
Spurs won't hold KD and RW down every game. It cannot happen. I think the Spurs win this series but even the Mavs beat the Thunder one game. Even if KD and Westbrook went off tonight they lose by 20. There's nothing the Spurs are doing to make the Thunder play mid season, James Harden like defense in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

One game isn't enough to convince me this is the real Green. Loved his defense today as much as I loved that outside J

Danny Green shutting me up during the playoffs and I love it.

Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
If dg keeps up on 3's we ring he is a huge key
-
Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
The biggest thing about putting kawhi on westbrook is that it eliminates the post up. Without his post up, he beomes a one dimensional scorer with only the drive to rely on becausr the spurs are gladly going to take a westbrook 3.
Which obviously shows how important Green is to this ball club. With Kawhi focused on Westbrook, The spurs still have another elite defensive wing to throw at Durant.
The only other offensive alternative the thunder have are the rolls and Ibaka shooting. Ibaka shot the ball well.
It's going to be tough for OKC to het open looks just because of the Kawhi-Green Dynamic.

No doubt. We get plenty of good looks. Capitalizing is what was missing. Spurs really don't play nearly as hard in the regular season. It's obvious even in the Memphis series.
Kawhi did good on Westbrook for a reason the analysts mentioned, he can't post up Kawhi. Green played him just as much it seemed though and played him better on the drive. He got to the rim a few times and just missed everything. Some of those will begin to fall eventually.

What? The Spurs won 67 games..
people here seriously undervalue DG BDN

Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
Everyone knows westbrook can't shoot a J consistently to save his life!! Play off him and limit his penetration. Kawhi has almost no exploitable weakness's in his game.....amazing when you think about it. That best two way player designation is true rubbish.......

I very much hope Danny smothers gimpy Curry when the time comes. Except for maybe Boris, he's the x factor against the Dubs.

:rollin:lol:rollin
No he's not. He's a 27 YO 3 and D guy who's 3 is league average for his career, but trending downward. He's a role player, and will NOT be getting more than $25M. LMAO.

LMA isn't making $25 Million.

Fine, $20M, give or take. Your assertion is still ridiculous. He's a skinny poor man's Diaw, better defender, no post game.

Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
ESPN Stats/Info:
Quote:
Russell Westbrook was initially guarded by Kawhi Leonard on 84 percent of the Thunder’s half-court offense while both were on the court Saturday. Westbrook was 3-of-16 in half-court and was held to two points on 1-of-7 shooting and committed a turnover when Leonard was the primary defender.

batum is not a 3 and D player in any way. He's their secondary ball handler and a known triple double threat, these players have a completely different price.

Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
Funny how times change. When WB was killing us in 2014, everyone was begging Pop to put Green on WB, because Kawhi couldn't guard quick guards.
-
Re: Kawhi on westgod from the start
The reason that I hope that Leonard can stay on Westbrook is that Leonard is so much stronger than Green, and Westbrook is so much stronger than Green. Kawhi can match Westbrook's length and strength and speed, and he is, I believe, the only Spur who can. I hope that he doesn't get in foul trouble in OKC when the refs give the Thunder some home cooking.
