I have it on good authority they will trade him for you and a bag of Julios chips.

Thanks for the insight.
You've been on that train headed nowhere all summer long. Parker is likely going to play out his contract in San Antonio unless an offer/opportunity blows them away. I doubt Tony has much caché left around the league with his age, limted productivity and salary so Spurs will need to work "around him" in a sense.
If it was up to me they would have a better starter available in a Brandon Knight, Reggie Jackson or (healthy) Jeff Teague (with Tony being the "new Manu" 6th man), yet none of those players are viable options anymore. They will go with what they have and address the issue next year most likely.
I see DeJount as a combo guard and succesor to Manu (starting or backing up) then as our future starting PG. I love that he has point guard skills, but much like the guy he patterns his game after (Jamal Crawford) scoring and creating for himself will probably be his biggest strengths.
LOL at the idea of Kyle Anderson ever being a starting PG. Of all the fangirl/homerish stuff that you type about him (SAGirl) that his the most ludicrous. He would be torn apart having to bring the ball up consistently against starting calber players, doesn't have the athleticism to match up against most starters and isn't an adequate shooting threat from anywhere on the floor. Pop finally moving on from Diaw (bye BoBo) and letting Kyle play that position of "stretch/combo 4" is exactly what Kyle needs. It'll be the only way he'll stick in the league long-term with his athletic limitations.
I like the competition for the 15th spot, but I wish we could have found a player like the Argentine a few years earlier. I really, really think they need to invest the last roster spot in emergency/development point guard or another big man (tweener PF/C). Training camp and preseason should be interesting....
The 15th spot might be reserved for Theodore......lol
The Spurs are hurting at PG, period. Mills and Anderson aren't the answer and Dijon is years away from leading the team from the PG position. TP's greatest strength and importance was his ability to get easy baskets for the team. He might have 10 to 20 games where he is a difference maker, but I am see him being a liability at both ends of the floor for most of the season.
You're thinking of one on one basketball, not team basketball. In team basketball, a role player having just a size advantage on offense isn't valuable especially if he can't get past his man off the dribble ( which is the case for Anderson vs. NBA wings). If anything, a role player just having a size advantage is fools gold. Fools gold because you don't want to force feed a role player just because he has a size advantage -- the long run value on that proposition is negative. The end result will be a contested two ( the defender will be able to stay between him and the basket and a role player like Anderson won't ever demand a double team from a smart team). Another reason why its fools gold is because a player like Anderson shouldn't be taking a lot of shots in the first place -- and if he is, then you're a losing team or will lose. For role players, you want them to be as efficient as possible in the secondary option scenarios where they receive the bulk of their limited touches or opportunities from passes from the primary facilitators in the offense ( Kawhi, Aldridge, Parker, Pau, Manu).
For role playing wings, those secondary option scenarios include:
1. Catch and shoot 3's.
2. Ability to get past their man and create off hard close outs.
3. Finish strong off cuts to the basket from the weakside.
4. Being able to create the most efficient shot possible in desperate late shot clock situations.
For role playing PFs or Cs, those secondary option scenarios include:
1. Finishing inside efficiently -- lay ups, dunks, floaters.
2. Being able to make the right pass on 3 on 2, 2 on 1 opportunities off early catches on dives. ( Diaw was great at it, so was Splitter -- Anderson was great in the action during small sample in SL last month)
3. Being able to knock down PnPop opportunities from three or from midrange (hate midrange PnPops -- so glad West is gone).
4. Cleaning up weakside uncontested O rebounds when an attempted block is missed
5. Being able to create off the dribble from fake dribble hand off/pinch post action when their defender cheats over anticipating the drive or jumper from the wing/soon to be ball handler.
6. Being able to create the most efficient shot possible in desperate late shot clock situations.
It's more valuable to be quicker than your defender instead of taller -- especially in the NBA where its 5 on 5 and getting past your man can create the most efficient shots in basketball -- whether you're creating a shot at the basket for you or your teammate or the defense rotates over and it creates an open look from 3 on the weakside. Anderson has the ball-handling, size, passing, creating off the dribble tools, like Diaw, to create great looks for himself and his teammates from the power forward spot -- not small forward. Anderson is quicker than most PF's and has the length to where he's not oversized at the position. He'll be able to create more from triple threat positions off the catch, from fake dribble hand offs, and he'll also create great opportunities for his teammates and himself as a secondary play maker in dive PnR action when he receives the pass early in the dive action after he sets the screen for the ball handler ( like Diaw).
Anderson also has more positive value on D at the PF position as most of the offensive action with bench line ups is evolved around the perimeter in todays game. Having Anderson being the guy that switches or hedges out on the wing is valuable and will prolong the time the offense has to create a great look -- which is correlated to teams getting deep in the clock and taking bad shots. He also has the size to defend the back up PF well in ISO post situations -- if the opposition chooses to try to exploit that matchup -- which they'd be dumb to because post play is the most inefficient type of offensive -- especially for back up PFs.
In my opinion, Anderson has more value at the back up four spot than the back up three. No one can convince me otherwise. He should compete with Lee for minutes the position and I don't think Lee stands a chance to be the back up five over Dedmon as Dedmon is by far the superior player in all phases on defense.
Good post Manu4tres.. I didn't want to quote the entire post as it was long, but it was educating. :tu

You guys hang up too much on positions. Spurs like to use a lot of three guard lineups. Aside from Kawhi, we'll see lineups where Manu/Simmons/Green/Anderson/Bertans are all at the "SF" spot
Right. Offensively, position matters much less than skill (need mix of ballhandling, passing, shooting, rebounding, guys who can screen & roll, etc.). Doesn't matter which position it comes from as long as you have enough of those skills on the floor. Can get by as a smaller team assuming you shoot well enough or have undersized rebounders (good rebounding guards), or a bigger team so long as you don't clog the floor or have no ballhanders. Have deficient offensive players and your offense stagnates.
Defensively, it's about being able to match up - potentially against multiple types/sizes of players - as switching is ever more important. Have non-defenders and they'll get picked on. If you lack size, you better find a way to combat teams from pounding offensive glass - either rebounding well despite small ball, or force fast breaks.
I think Anderson will work as a situational PG so long as there is enough shooting on the floor and someone else can guard the PG (Danny most likely).
I've never understood why so many can't grasp this, especially considering this team has been a perfect example of it (Duncan, Ginobili, Splitter, Mills) for a long time.
Too many are expecting a hard and fast rotation, based on antiquated/rigid positional designations, when in reality the 9th and 10th spots will be both fluid and situational.
Whether Dedmon, Lee, Simmons and to a lesser extent Bertans, are in it for a given game or stretch of games, they'll all play at least relatively significant minutes throughout the season.

Dark side of the Spurs' reputation. People think that they make guys good, so if you can't hang on in SA, people assume you're a lost cause.
Anyone else hearing the Rudy Gay to Spurs trade rumor?
Lol
