Re: Official 2016 Spurs Offseason Thread
Hopefully, they minimize Pre-season this year. That shit is just stupid.
three games max is all you need to try out new roles and run a try out of some sorts for camp signs.

Found this randomly and a little late, but Stephen A is ranting over something Lebron said about Jordan. The part that is interesting starts at 11:20. He basically states if prime Jordan switched with Lebron James the Spurs would've lost in 2014 without a doubt. It's an interesting thought exercise but he greatly undermines just how outstanding that Spurs team was playing. I don't think there was much even Jordan could do to change the outcome.
I didn't think this deserved a thread but something interesting to think about during these slow slow days of the off season.

It's when for the former and why for the latter? He'd be a terrible fit.
Expect them to pursue Hill. Unfortunately, he's in a perfect situation and will probably stay put. Failing that, they'll probably turn to Teodosic.

This depends a lot on:
1. How much they like Murray.
2. How much Murray develops in the next 8 months.
3. Can they find a taker for Parker because Gasol will likely opt in.

Somewhat, but it's more so about being in win now mode, how much they love Hill and him being an excellent fit.

Probably true, but means nothing.
It's open practice and the Spurs have always been welcoming. I got the impression Jeff was well liked by most of the team.

why would livingston be a terrible fit? :lol he has a high bb iq, court vision, 6'7". would be especially good to have around considering manu won't be here after this season (imo).
spurs pursuing george hill wouldn't surprise me. i definitely would not want him starting though. not even crazy about him being back on the team tbh.
would easily take livingston over hill. it's not even something i'd blink twice about.

Ayers is probably there to complete the four scrimmage teams. I bet he's better than Ryan Richards too. :lol

We rang with MVAyres TBH.

I imagine he means that bc Livingston is not a 3 pt shooter and rather likes to create out of post ups. Heck as much as Pop likes the post up I bet he loves Livingston.

Maybe he's worked on 'that catching the ball thing.'

Parker, Mills, Laprovitolla, Arcidiacono
Green, Ginobili, Murray, Forbes
Leonard, Anderson, Simmons, Garino
Aldridge, Lee, Bertans, LJC
Gasol, Dedmon, Ayres, Richards
With the guys in italics being my guess for the cuts and the bolded players going to Austin. Obvious thing is that the Spurs would be projecting Anderson as a wing for camp, though with the cuts, he'd very much be in the running for combo-forward for the regular season. Still, if Pop is planning on Lee being in the regular rotation, having a camp roster that enforces Kyle being a three is a good thing.
It's also very possible that Ayres is just one of the vets the Spurs bring in to compete for that last spot. Could see a couple of other scrap-heap bigs vying to be this year's Rasual Butler.

Sources say Ayres has dyed his hair red and is working on his 3 pt shot.
