This why against coaches that adjust to him, as the series goes on, that team ges stronger and stronger while the Spurs fade. His only adjustments ever have been who starts the first or second half.

This is an excellent take mid. I thought while watching the Mavs OKC series and they were closing games with Westbrook, KD, Kanter, Adams, and Waiters it would give us serious problems and it certainly has. That lineup you could argue is the top in the NBA as long as they are not turning the ball over

Fathead play decent D on Durant. Thats really the only reason he's out there. Not a fan of him by any means but I don't think him playing a couple of minutes has much of an impact.

This series is over IMO..Pop is 2-12 in Game 6s when he trails 2-3 in a BO7 series..his two twins were thanks to CP0 allergy to Conference Finals (Hornets '08) and the other he ended up losing Game 7 at home against Dallas 2006 in a series he was thoroughly outcoached.

He's just that type of miserable bitterender with his refusal to make obvious adjustments..

I really don't think big adjustments are needed. Despite scrubs like Waiters & Foye hitting big shots, despite the issues on the glass, despite Westbrook chucking in 34 foot 3 point shots and Adams throwing in backwards over the head shots & despite getting a raw deal with officiating the Spurs are in every game.

The big adjustment is Guys making 2-4 open looks they are missing. If they just do that and every other odd thing happens (bad calls, rebounding issues, fluky shots & scrubs playing beyond themselves) SA wins.

The sad thing is it does. Fat Head was -7 in 3 minutes in game three. He subbed in for Kawhi for the last 3 minutes of 3rd last night, and the Thunder promptly went on a 5-1 run to close the quarter.

If Pop is worried about defense on Durant when Kawhi is subbed out, stagger Green, as I said.

Fat Head not seeing another minute on the floor is definitely an adjustment that needs to be made.

Note, I'm not irrationally hating on Kyle here, but all the evidence strongly suggests he's a huge liability on the floor in this series.

I agree w/ staggering DG. He seems like he more than anyone can sustain playing big minutes and needs to. Unfortunately with Kawhi looking completely gassed late in games (he is 2-9 with 5 points in the last 2 fourth quarters) Kawhi can't play 42MPG+ and be effective.

Issue is even a locked-in Green is likely to only shoot around 50 percent next game. I think he'll score in single digits off six or seven attempts. I don't think that'll be enough unless someone else besides LMA and Kawhi gets close to 20. The Spurs have been in games, but they are also looking to be on fumes right now.

It would make a good deal of sense to change up the starting lineup. I'd start Diaw to see if he could get someone in foul trouble. Duncan and West might be a slow-footed bench combo, but they should be able to handle Collison and Kanter.

Collison is BARELY playing, 1 minute::lmao

Pop should handle the rotation by having Tim/LMA on the floor against the Kanter/Adams lineup as much as possible & playing Diaw/West only when Ibaka is in the game. Thus, the team would be best served starting West or Diaw then bringing Tim off the bench to matchup w/ Kanter.

I would say start West since Roberson can't take advantage of D-Worst's brick feet unlike Waiters.

SA, despite "lineup flaws" and adjustments, are generating a lot of open looks. Looks they have hit all year. Looks they should hit.

Even when they win that's the case.Look at 2005 Finals.Started off like gangbusters first 2 games.Larry Brown made adjustments and tightened the series.They lucked out with Horry having a 1995 flashback in game 5 and Pistons shitting the bed on offense in game 7.If that series was best of 9,they lose.

This just lends more credence to the age old idea that jumpshot shooting teams (unless you're an anomaly, like Golden State) don't win titles. There's just too much variance. I would wager to guess that best jumpshooters in the league probably hit 50-55% of their uncontested looks from the mid-range and out. Compare that to the overall percentage of the better post players and penetrators. They'll shoot 55-60% whether contested or not. And I'm sure the uncontested rate for penetrators and post-players is 70-80%.

That said, it is encouraging the offense is generating looks. If the Spurs can just hot for the next two games, we have a shot.
