If Tim and Manu come back, you will see part two of this shitshow. The Spurs just won't have the cap flexibility. These next two off-seasons are critical for completing the new core. They'll only recover their depth by developing cheap youngsters.
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
This team desperately needs more players that aren't consistently liabilities on 1 side of the ball, tbh..while everybody raves about the passing and hot shooting of the 2014 team, their versatility was just as important..they could run many different types of lineups and had many more players than today's team that weren't liabilities on one side of the ball..
The potential for versatility should be the focus of this off-season..
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
They need to go all out for Durant. Don't think us Spurs fans can handle these early knockouts again. I don't want to re-live the '90s before the first title.

Re: Starting lineup for next year?
I'm fine with a 67 win shit show and a team that if they don't go ice cold has a fantastic chance at a WCF.

Conley
Green
Leonard
Durant
Aldrige

Yeah, me too. It's going to take more than two or three years at the very least to put another championship core together, might aswell have a farewell tour...

Don't think Durant will come to the Spurs.....How about Harford maybe.

LOL spurs signed max players who are liabilities so much for that thought.

We need a Westbrook-style Point Guard, you know, capable of dunking, shooting 3's, and play back to the basket. Tony, as of today, is soft as hell.
We need a similar replacement for Manu: fiercy, eye of the tiger, good hands, no fear for penetrations, good J's, great 3's, great steal instinct and HEART to compete.
We need a similar Timmy, oh wait, there is no one like him. fukk

Re: Starting lineup for next year?
Do think there's a chance they could get Horford this off-season. He's more likely to take the near-max (about $23 Million) than Durant is. He fits a position of need, and he can work well in the starting lineup. Wouldn't want to spend all three max slots in the front court, so I'd be against it.

What do you think are the odds of SA having the juice to net another first round pick this year?

I think Mills, Parker and Green are all worth firsts. If not the picks themselves, then at least decent guys on rookie deals.

(empty) High IQ, seasoned and level-headed natural playmaker
Green
Kawhi
Aldrige
Bobo
Bench:
(Empty) High IQ, level-headed natural playmaker young prospect
Simmons
Manu and Duncan for the minimum and without any expectation for them to carry heartless pussies' dead-weight to a championship, much less through a regular season.
Good bye POP, Mills, Parker, Diaw, POP, Anderson, West, Bonner, oh.. and POP.

Well, then Mills is the only one I can see. I don't see SA trading Danny with his fit and contract. TP I don't see being traded out of respect unless it's for getting Durant or something (or a lottery pick). Just think it's really unlikely TP is traded.
That leaves Mills and he may be lucky to get a pick in the mid-20's.

You left out Bonner, who will still be on the team.
With West gone, Pop will play his turd tower tandem of Bonner and Lalanne to stretch the floor against OKC's porn'stach brothers.

Re: Starting lineup for next year?
I can see soft ass Hibbert coming here for cheap.
Bertans will be with the team.
Simmons role will increase, if he`ll do the right things in the summer.
Good chance that Gasol is coming.
I have no idea what this another french fag, we stashed, even looks like neither to say if he`ll come here.
Same goes for all that balkan players.
Diaw, West, Miller, Martin, Bonner should be gone. Not sure on Anderson

Gasol, Aldridge, Leonard, Green, Parker
The bench will be different next season. I do see Matt Barnes coming over like TGY thinks.

We need to go younger, Gasol won't help us get over the hump.

Still makes no sense for Durant to consider the Spurs, since he went further in the playoffs with OKC, and is playing for a better coach in Billy Donovan.

It only make sense to change teams, if he`ll realize that OKC would not win. They can`t trade, sign or anything with all that cap space used. If it`s not the money, but championships, he`ll consider joining other teams, if he`s sure OKC can`t win it.

In theory, if Duncan were to retire, the Spurs could work out a sign and trade with Diaw and Green for him. Spurs would have a hole at two guard unless KA progress enough to be part time starters with Leonard.

Horford is not a true center for LMA or any player like LMA. He is undersized, and plays as an undersized center, only because Milsap can only play pf. He is a good player. I really like him. Solid and consistent player. But not 23 million good, and only on par with LMA good. I rather not throw all our salary cap in one basket. Sure if he takes 17million, but he wont, cause teams like Lakers and Magic will offer him the max. I rather spend that money on a combination of players, like Noah, Batum, Claxton.
-

I think he stays another year but to be fair LMA lost in the first last year like the Spurs did and he choose an aging core plus Leonard over Liliard

I would go after Hibbert or Noah on the cheap. Zach Lowe mentioned that he could see Hibbert getting around $10 million, Noah probably would get a short term deal with decent money like $12-15 over two years. Hibbert seems mentally weak but can still protect the glass and would give us a starting big ( I am thinking around 25 mpg) to pair with LMA. I think Diaw is gone, so maybe KA will step into his role but I think that Boban and West will be back.

We hold the line and wait for Boogie. Boogie and Kiwi with the right pieces will boss the league.

If Durant desperately wants to win, he'll join GSW. Pop completely fucked the Spurs' chances with his stubbornness and ineptitude.

Re: Starting lineup for next year?
Hibbert has a low center of gravity, even worse than Boban. He's also a terrible rebounder. With the NBA going small, getting a slow footed stiff like him is the worst thing you could do.

Exactly, the Spurs need a youth movement. So tired of the team becoming a retirement home for older vets so they can have their last hurrah.
Everyone needs to go except Kawhi, LaMarcus, Green and Simmons. Spurs can get something from Diaw and Parker, Mills and Kyle. Let Miller, Bonner, KMart and West walk. They need to REVAMP the entire team. Starting with the point guard. They can bring in Bertans from overseas, he is a great three point shooter. They also need an athletic big and a defensive wing.
-

There is a difference in being a terrible rebounded and someone who boxes out the other bigs while the PF grabs the board. I am curious to know if that is the case with him. I do not disagree with Hibbs going the way of the dinosaur but he can still be useful in an 24 mpg capacity, I think I would take him over Noah simply because Noah has a ton of injury issues and probably would have a higher asking price. I think that Pop will experiment more with LMA at center next season anyway.

Inserting Noah in the starting lineup would be so good. He has great hands and is a great passer. He also is a very good pick n roll defender and would work in our scheme. Yes he is injury prone, but I rather have Bobon as our big lumbering jack and Hibbert who would probably cost more.

Re: Starting lineup for next year?
It's crazy to say it, but I think if we had a rim protector/rebounder even at the level of like a Bismack Biyombo I think we'd be in the WCF. Mike Conley would also be a big step in the right direction. We would compete with him, a rim protector, and our current guys. Might need another shooter or two, but this offseason should do Patty well.
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
All I want is a new starting point guard next season.
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
Green
Kawhi
LMA
Conley
Whiteside
Bench:
Timmy
Manu
Tony
Lin
Boban
Bertans
Simmons
Kyle
(I don't think Timmy and Manu return, but the only way I would want them to return is if the big three lead the 2nd unit and come off the bench together.)
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
Excited to see whatever team they put together, hopefully Manu/Tim can retire so the spurs can move on with a future team.

What kind of contract does he have tbh? I really like what I saw this playoffs from him.
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
- Conley, Bazemore e Matt barnes would be excelent options (the three together would be perfect)
- bring Bertans and Multinovic or Livio?
- try to get one or two rim protectors
- draft thon maker or taurean prince
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
The Spurs need to draft Dejounte Murray of Washington.
Need to move up to about 14-15 to do it -- just like they did with Kawhi.
Then bring over Bertans.
Tim and Manu need to come back.
Bonner is gone.
Aldridge -- can't live with him, can't live without him.
RC earn your money -- do an intervention and tell Pop he's gotta be more contrite until he wins big again (and shave).

Yeah, I know. That was more wishful thinking than a prediction. Conley or Whiteside is a possibility, but not both with Timmy returning at 7 million.
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
Rather trade for Teague instead of overpay for an injury prone Conley. A lot less of a risk.
-
Re: Starting lineup for next year?
Since SA will probably whiff on KD.
Trade Diaw/Mills for Teague.
Sign Gasol
Kick tires w/ Terrence Jones/Ryan Anderson/Teletovic
Kick tires w/ Allen Crabbe, Brandon Rush, Wes Johnson
Sign James Ennis or Ish Smith as the 3rd PG
Bring over Bertans, draft best prospect available.
