$38,000 a day.
A pittance compared to the trillion + Bern would get us back from the Wall Street and D.C. shysters.

Re: Bernie Sanders Still Has Expensive Secret Service Protection
The latest establishment media attack on Bernie Sanders is even lazier and more pathetic than you’d expect.
Sanders still receives protection from a Secret Service detail, which he’s had since February after splitting delegates with Hillary Clinton in the Iowa caucus. Now that the primaries and caucuses are over, the media has attempted to paint the senator and presidential candidate as selfish for continuing to receive Secret Service protection at the cost of $38,000 a day.
This attack began with the Washington Post and was repeated ad nauseum by TIME, CBS, The Hill, Slate, feminist blogJezebel, and Huffington Post parent company AOL. Washington Post reporter Dave Weigel, whose Twitter timeline is filled with smug tweets mocking Sanders’ supporters, repeated the attack to his 204,000 followers. Each article suggests that if Sanders were to suspend his campaign, he would be doing a service to taxpayers. The only problem is that this line of attack is based on a complete lie.
This year’s $1.93 billion Secret Service budget was signed in 2015, months before Sanders received his Secret Service detail. According to Roll Call, $204 million was appropriated for presidential candidate protection, which was the exact amount President Obama requested.
As lawyer Esha Krishnaswamy explained in a series of tweets,
presidential candidates have no say in when they get their Secret Service detail or how long they keep it during the course of a campaign:

Re: Bernie Sanders Still Has Expensive Secret Service Protection
Bernie needs protection. He knows what the Clinton's are capable of. :lol
-
Re: Bernie Sanders Still Has Expensive Secret Service Protection
This is most likely the silliest attempt to force him out.

Bernie Haters have sheepishly used the *socialist* smear to try to discredit Bernie.
Reality is when you do the math on U.S. taxes along with all the fees etc every time you buy something (gas for instance), we do pay just as much as Sweden, Norway etc countries that are ooooohhhhh evil *socialist* countries.

Wht does this drivel you posted have anything to do with US debt that we currently own? I dont care what Bernie describes himself as. That's not going to magically erased our debt defecit and miraculously turn the minus into net positives. That's not something that can be done in 4 or 8 years.
But nice blond though.

Re: Bernie Sanders Still Has Expensive Secret Service Protection
Knowing the gov the amount approved for secret service was approved and must be used up completely even if it does not need to be

A year of caucuses and primaries to educate yourself and youre still using the same Fox News level of retarded lies. And you dont even address the topic.
You are part of the problem.

Nothing like calling me out while not pointing out what's a lie there.
We're not 18 trillion dollars in the drain? Sanders has not proposed free college tuition?
Please, enlighten me.

:lol I have to spell it out for you? The entire premise of your assertion is false. Bernie never said he would completely eliminate debt within his presidency He just says if the government implements most or all the changes he suggests, there would be a remarkably above average expansion of the economy and a statistically significant raise in average citizens' buying power and quality of life. With the resulting surplus, the government could begin paying down on thr debt in a manner resembling a governing body with coherency.
Most educated Bernie fans would support a tax hike if even a few of the reforms went through. Yet the repugnancy festering inside both parties prevents any viable progress towards 21st century "basics" like basic healthcare, no unending foreign wars, no massive income inequality between the rich and the poor, etc

Excuse me?
I replied to Fabb's claim that Bernie would "get us back trillions+ of dollars" with a question of how.
Given that we already are in the trillions in debt, it is an obvious observation to note that he would have to first clear us out of our debt..then..then make us trillions back.
How's that false in any way? It was an scenario I played out.
I know Bernie wouldn't do it in his term if he was president, no president can make that turn around. That's why my question was a sarcastic one.

Education and health care have ancillary benefits to society and economics that go beyond the fiscal bottomline.

That's what you're hooked up on? :lol
Uh, it may be a shock to you, but you don't have to get the country completely out of debt for the middle class to begin receiving back the trillions Wall Street borrowed - some might say stole - from Main Street, in both direct bailouts and Americans' massive losses in quality of life and wealth. It doesn't take a zero debt situation for the president to push public opinion harder than ever towards closing the tax loopholes allowing trillions (hmm, doesn't this almost sound like what Fabbs was talking about...?) to be stashed offshore. We don't have to pay $20 trillion off before we raise the marginal tax rate on the rich due to the economic and war realities of today's America.
I mean, tiny taxes on WSt alone would pay for free college tuition, with a considerable surplus, but of course, you're just gonna keep parroting the Fox News lines from the last year incredulously, not even realizing you are the definition of today's neoliberal, the clintonian new democrat that sounds a lot like a moderate republican.

Agreed. There's an ethical question here that people against free basic healthcare and low cost or free tuition generally refuse to answer, instead acting like working harder is the answer to everything in life.

Re: Bernie Sanders Still Has Expensive Secret Service Protection
I like Sanders, but you gotta raise taxes to turn this nation into a social democracy. Like Maher says, a lot of these proposals are more santaism than socialism.

You didn't seem to have a problem with Ben Carson having the same protection in February.

He proposes an increase of the of the payroll tax to offset taking the health care burden off of companies. Increase to capital gains and other initiatives as well.
Quote:
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has proposed $15.3 trillion in tax increases, according to a new report, and would raise rates on virtually everyone, including the politically all-important middle class.
Not surprisingly for a candidate who has made income inequality his central issue, Sanders’s plan would wallop the rich, an analysis released Friday by the Tax Policy Center shows.
The top 0.1 percent would see their tax bills go up by more than $3 million, the report said, which would cut their after-tax incomes by almost half.
But Sanders, going where few politicians dare, would also raise taxes on middle- and low-income families, with those in the dead center of the income spectrum facing a $4,700 tax increase. That would reduce their after-tax incomes by 8.5 percent, the report said.

Maher is good for bringing on extremely intelligent people onto his show and letting them talk but he himself is good for only one liners and zingers suited for the LCD. It's an interesting juxtaposition and he has been a Clinton sycophant since the 90s.

Re: Bernie Sanders Still Has Expensive Secret Service Protection
Other colleagues told The Hill they thought his decision to keep his Secret Service detail, at a cost of $38,000 a day, revealed his inflated sense of self-importance. Sanders even arrived Wednesday morning in his motorcade, lights on and sirens blaring, to vote on a minor measure.

I could make the same argument about Trump.
If you are concerned about wasting money, why not post something about the unwanted weapons programs that the Pentagon has been trying to get rid of, but Congress keeps authorizing?

Re: Bernie Sanders Still Has Expensive Secret Service Protection
Who wants to harm a likable fellow like Bernie? Trump, otoh, will need protection (paid for by himself) for the rest of his life after this run even if he loses.

I wonder if Mulvaney/Trash will compensate NYC ( voted Hillary 90% / 10% )?
Then there's SS protection for his grifter kids flying around the planet collecting emoluments.
