The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
According to Adrian Wojnarowski's twitter: Several Western teams aggressive on Thad Young, whom Brooklyn’s working to move to highest bidder. This gets Nets into first-round.

Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Yeah, but what the Spurs have to offer?
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Their first rounder won't be enough even with a Sean Marks discount.
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Other than being a decent player I don't see what holes Thad would fill?
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
What about trading mills? Mills is worth a late first and bk gets the aussiefication started. . ?
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
It could make sense if the Spurs know Tim and Manu are returning. They could trade Diaw, Mills, and their first and then have about $18 million to spend between Tim, Manu, West, Marjanovic, and a backup point guard.
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Sean Marks being their GM doesn't hurt. The Spurs don't have a high draft pick, but they could get a third team involved.
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Maybe Marks would want some of the stashed rights as well to fill out his crappy roster? Hanga could definitely get minutes there.
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
He's 28.. Spurs better wait till he's at least 30

That's a team which could use a guy like Kyle.:lol

Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Why would SA fans want him? He would eat up cap space and not really fill any needs.

Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Young traded to Indy for #20

Good for both teams. BKY hitting full on reset button have absurd amount of cap space now. They need draft picks to rebuild and cleared a ton of salary for a player they were going no where with. Have to think Brook might be moved?
If they think they can land FAs you keep Brook but getting a lottery pick and player (young in age) for Brook is an option.
Pacers still have cap space even taking Thad with no outgoing salary and have turned Hill & #20 into Teague/Young. They added depth & talent and still have money to add more players.
They needed to change. They were mediocre in every way so I get making moves.

Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Adding Young, and I think after talking up Turner as center for next year by Bird iirc, might mean they're moving on from Ian.

Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Haha, now Brooklyn can give us 21 for mills, delicious. 12 Danny, 20 mills,
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
So Teague, Miles, George, Young and Turner? That is pace and space. Still has to fill out that bench, though. Monta and Lavoy Allen are only so-so pieces.

Yeah, Indy has done really well with these two trades.

Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
It's awkward fits for Indy but they added known actual NBA talent still in prime years. They turned a late-ish 1st into a guaranteed NBA player that's under contract & still doesn't mess up their ability to make moves.
Let's see what Indy extends Teague to.

I guess they aren't re-signing Ian?

Monta should be converted into a 6th man, he was injured last season which was why he struggled.

I was projecting him has sixth man, but they still need a Calderonesque PG to run with him.

The bench isn't that bad.
Joe Young is a nice young bench PG
Monte ellis is a good 6th man off the bench to keep scoring up.
solomon hill is a good backup SF
Rakeem Christmas is a good young big
then bring back either Jordan Hill or Ian mahinmi as a bench big.
That's not to bad

Vasquez could do the trick especially since he has size.

Full reset by the Nets. Marks doing good work.

Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
Would've liked Thaddeus Young on the Spurs, but good move by Indy
-
Re: The Nets are shopping Thaddeus Young...Weren't the Spurs interested at once?
The NBA is so frustrating to follow, as a hardcore fan..
A team like Indiana can make all the correct moves in the off-season, yet they're still a middling team with a ceiling that won't be higher than the ECFs:lol

Nate McMillan is a HARDCORE defense first type coach, there is no way he's rolling w/ Thad Young at PF & is going to bench Teague/Monta for a couple of scrappy scrubs.:lol

:vomit::vomit:^^I forgot they hired Nate McMillan..ewww..

Yeah, by far the hardest league to build a legit contender in, which is why it's the most difficult league to win it all in. With the occasional exception, like the mid aughts Pistons or the Spurs of recent years (even then, they had an all time great, albeit a past his prime one), you have no chance without an in their prime, top five player and to get one of them, you need to get lucky.
Miles is obviously a better fit with the starters than Ellis, at this point, but he'd also be a poor fit next to Stuckey and is too big an ego to accept coming off of the bench. If they can move him and pick up a quality backup center, they should be squarely in the mix with the Raptors, Hawks and Heat, for the right to lose to the Cavs in the ECF.

Yep, gives you perspective on how impressive the 2014 Spurs were..not only for winning a championship, but also for doing it in a dominant fashion vs. difficult competition without a star player(deepest and most balanced team in NBA history)
