I am sure there were moves to be made for those picks. 76ers specially needed to trade a big and Celtics could have gotten their choice of Noel or Okafor. But I bet they wanted to fleece the 76ers for Noel. 76ers are also in a bind by the way, they didn't improve and Simmons will bust harder with all their bugs. He could get devalued quickly. It's not like he was any good winning games in the NCAA. Going to another losing situation spells disaster. Maybe they should have even traded Simmons and tried to get someone to play with the guys they have. I can't see Simmons being better than their other bigs who are already devalued playing in a bad system with bad players aside from them

They will only do it if they believe they can improve, if it's the difference between Durant t or Conley comings I think they do it easily, otherwise they have to have a good deal. As bad as he can be, he has his uses and familiarity. I do think he's having chemistry issues with the team though and it makes it more likely to separate if they truly plan on building around Kawhi.
But if we don't get a big name, plus a Gasol Noah signing they might be comfortable with keeping him one more year.
There are young teams that would take him to help develop. he does have championship experience, which is valuable to an up and coming team. Sixers might have interest, they did t get their trade and are still looking for veteran presence to help the young guys develop.

I think the league called their bluff. They arnt in a position to demand a lot, they NEED to move one of their guys. They tried to be in the control position, but that's not the case. Smart gms know to be patient, they'll have to give in or suffer lockerroom issues with the young guys fighting for minutes. Not how you want to start a new era.
I do think they will play Simmons in different positions. He will get a chance to play the 1 for them, especially with lack of pgs. Not as a consistent pg, but they will test across the board at the wings to see if they can get away with it. He has the ability to be a wing, that's what's so intriguing about him. It will be interesting to see how they use their players. I'm actually interested in watching them this year. Like I said in the other post, a team like that could use some veteran presence.

A lot will have to do with Tim and Manu now that you mention chemistry issues. The team is bring over bertans and from RC words maybe more of their stashed players who are young. This team is trending already in a younger direction and if Tim and Manu retire that will definitely establish the identity of this team as a different team. But Tony has said he would do whatever Pop wanted. I still see him in the team.
I think we should address the bigs situation too bc Timmy is really uncertain, even if he returns he could go through the knee soreness again.

Plus Okafor is already a complete chucklehead and team chemistry is toxic. They need vets in the worst way.
Re: ***Official 2016 NBA Draft Thread***
From what I've read Celts would have traded #3 for Okafor but 76ers said no. They offered Noel, Covington, #24 and #26 and Celts said no.
As for Simmons, it'll take him a while, but I think he'll be an AS by the end of his rookie contract. Kid is so smooth. Franchise player potential.
