Didn't he sign on the 3rd or 4th?
It sounds peculiarly short, compared to some of the other teams.
Tbh I wouldn't expect much news about it in either direction.
I can't imagine he'd leave, but he did shut down the Thunder's attempts to land Horford by refusing to commit.
ours wasnt shorter it was about 2 hrs like the others except for the clips who he was blown away by supposedly...until they resigned Austin rivers and eliminated themselves from the running :lol
Interesting stuff about OKC, sounds like they kind of whiffed it a little.
There may be some "wrap-up" reporting tonight about the meetings as a whole and a characterization of where Durant stands relative to staying or leaving. Might not get that til after Miami tomorrow though.
I hope for their sake OKC wasn't banking on recruiting Hirford. That's a bad pitch.
It'd be an interesting San in the back if Durant instead follows Horford to Boston.
With the way Riley has treated Wade I wouldn't be surprised if KD is wary about going to Miami
It's probably between Warriors and OKC at this point tbh, I would love it if he chose to sign with the Spurs.
he's going to Boston
Regardless of how the meeting went, this just doesn't have the same feeling as last year with LMA. I was fairly confident LA would come here last offseason...or I at least thought we had as good of a chance as anyone to land him.
With Durant, I don't feel like that at all. OKC just eliminated us in the playoffs. They were a game 6 chokejob away from beating the 73-win Warriors and advancing to the Finals. Spurs have Kawhi/Aldridge, but outside of that the team is a pretty big question mark with Duncan/Manu possibly retiring + SA having to get rid of more guys to make room for him. It just makes 10x more sense for him to sign a 1-year deal with OKC. Give it one more shot with Westbrook, and then next offseason they'll both be FAs and can decide whether they want to stick around or not. This way also gives him the most money as well.
Not saying there's no way KD comes here...but I'd be pretty shocked if he does. Just interested to see what the Spurs' plan B will be once he chooses somewhere else.
Plan B is probably sign Gasol and say goodbye to Duncan.
Did we at least cry?
I'm feeling Boston too. Just because.
What does anyone expect to hear? There was no reactions on any meetings except the Clippers and they moved on lol. I'd rather not hear anything until he makes a decision. Anyone elses opinion would be hearsay at this point anyways.
Theres nothing in Boston guys. Not more talented than OKC. It's Spurs 100% now.
It was NEVER gonna happen....
These ST knowitalls have decided before Durant himself knows, lol.
" if you join us you will play with Parker"
*leaves room
Big 3 with durrant anderson and bonner woukd be scary.
I don't think we're getting durant. Never were really. I think we need to put our focus on getting rid of 1 player in particular before trying to sign others
He might prefer a business meeting to a bunch of guys staging a high school pep rally. I'm sure the Spurs presented who they are, and didn't bullshit him. That takes a lot less time, and if he wants what they offered, he'll be in silver and black. If not, the presentation wouldn't have mattered anyway.
It was not guaranteed with lma after first meeting. It was second meeting where everyone got excited. So let him visit miami tomorrow and we'll see what happens.
Well seeing as how he is publicly talking about the other meetings and not this one it either went so well he wants to keep it under wraps as a deal is made, or it went not as well as the other meetings.
My guess is the latter is more likely
KD knew where he was going before the end of the season. It's just a dog a pony show now.
Lets just move on.....Durant is not coming to the Spurs....:(
Much of the appeal for Durant in OKC has to be Westbrook staying there long-term from a competitiveness pov. Without that assurance, there is a decent chance he leaves. I would think GS is the top choice outside of OKC as has been reported.
Anyways, the new cap NBA is insane. Good thing the Spurs locked in those guys last summer at the old rates.
:pop: Okay... This is what I envision for our offense with you KD.. Come over here and stand right here.. Okay, any second now Parker is going to pass the ball to you.. any second now.. shot clocks at 5 so get ready..
Parker at the buzzer!......(brick)
ok everyone answer this for me, why would durant go to the Warriors? If they would give him max, they would not be able to give max to curry, Green, and Thompson. And if you think those 3 guys are taking a pay cut and handing over the keys to the city to Durant, you're crazy. Not in their prime they aren't. They've already got a title and lost in the finals this year. this isn't a Heat/Lebron situation here
Clippers been told Durant will not take his talents their
It will be funny if all the teams courting Durant move on, forcing him to re-sign with OKC, then Westbrook, who's watching all this and feeling no love from KD, leaves OKC next season. I can totally see that happening.
I really get the feeling he is not coming to SA. He will go back to the thunder.
Can you imagine the collective gasp from the national media if Durant signs with the Spurs??? I would laugh. :lol
You always had to figure it would be a longshot. This isn't like LMA bailing off a sinking ship to a franchise with stability. Durant would be a leaving a top title contender that just got a lot better for a team that might not be as good. If he comes to the Spurs he's in a monster starting lineup with Leonard and Aldridge, but what's the depth like when the Spurs have to salary dump multiple players to fit his contract in? Meanwhile he has a monster starting lineup in OKC with Westbrook, Adams, Oladipo. But he has a bench too with guys like Waiters, Roberson, and Ilyasova. I think he'd be a fool to leave. Though he should have committed to OKC today so they could dump Kanter for Horford. Maybe he didn't want to look unprofessional canceling his meetings when teams were flying out to his place, but it cost his team big.
USA Today reported that the Celtics' meeting with Durant "overshadowed" his meeting with the Spurs.
They are always a step ahead with the info
http://redsarmy.com/wp-content/uploa...06/LALogan.jpg
I think the report was talking about how the Celtics brought in Brady, and signed Horford and how that overshadowed everyone for the day because of what they did. It's going to be a tough choice for Kevin but I think we have a good shot at him as another of those other teams.
One thing the Spurs have that the others don't is Pop. Who of Which, KD always speaks so highly of. I'm sure all of kd's basketball concerns were answered along with a different insight on life.
Also durant cancelled his meeting with miami?
This year's tspence-like tweets :lol
I get the feeling it's the Spurs tbh. They have more money to offer, he's wanting to focus strictly on basketball which is I'm sure all that the Spurs pitched. KD got to hear LMA tell him how great of a decision it was for him. It's got to be nice for KD to see that a free agent like LMA come in and immediately gain enough respect to travel and recruit others the following year. KD is also very familiar with the state. He's got huge respect for Pop. I think it's Spurs over any outsiders.
KD wants to focus on basketball and Bostons trying to recruit him with NFL players :lol
Come on ST... Do you really expect the media to hype up San Antonio as the favorites. Let's be patient and see if PATFO can get another meeting, or hopefully those two hours hit home with KD.
I mean come on ST... All we heard today was KD being blown away by the clippers and they have already been ruled out...
If KD goes to the Warriors, they will be even more unbearable to watch. All the gloating, showboating and Draymond's smug face after KD announces he's a Warrior.
Lets say you have the following options:
he goes to...
a) BOS 100%
b) GS 33% /SA 33% / OKC 34%
What would you chose?
USA Today recognizes the East Coast, the West Coast, and all the little nobodies in between. They literally could have written that article the day before the meeting even happened, and had it ready to publish. The East Coast/ West Coast sportswriter bias is the reason the college football rankings had to start incorporating a more objective computer evaluation.
The Spurs haven't made any obvious moves toward a Plan B, like the Clippers, so it seems like they must still think they are in the running. I really don't know about Durant, but some guys are less impressed by a dog and pony show than others. I guess we'll see how impressed he is by Horford.
ITS NOT HAPPENING.... KD more like GAY-D.
This is going to be a big homer opinion but... KD is a fool for choosing anyone outside of the Spurs or Warriors. The Spurs are a better choice of all the 4 options.
1. Boston- they lack a top 5 player or a champion on the roster. If you need to bring a player from a team not in your sport to show championships you shouldn't be considered.
2. OKC- Westbrook is arguably a top 5 player but he isn't a champion for a reason. He takes poor shots and often plays selfishly. Does KD really like playing with him? Also, Westbrook can't make KD's job easier on defense as he can only gaurd 1/2s. Westbrook will also age with Durant as they are similar in age.
3. GSW- they have champions and a top 5 player. Curry had serious injury concerns a few years ago, is the same age as Westbrook and has had great luck with health. The NBA is figuring out you need to beat the hell out of Curry. Draymond does offer help on D. None are as young as Kawhi. Who's going to sacrifice stats to defer to KD?
4. SAS- purely from a basketball standpoint KD would pick the Spurs. His career longevity and overall health will be prioritized. Kawhi will be able to defend the better of any of their assignments. As KD ages Kawhi will be enough years behind him that he can carry the workload as KD needs to unload some of his load in his twilight. LMA is the best big on any of the team's mentioned. I know Draymond plays great on the Warriors but he would look like butt on another team.
If I had to pick a Spur to pitch LMA was the right choice. He is a longhorn and can tell Durant what his transition to the Spurs has been like. The media is really pushing for any team but the Spurs. Any team, except Boston, that KD chooses will be favored to ring next year. I don't think Westbrook's game translates to championships and it's hard to imagine the depth GSW and the Spurs lose to get KD.
At at the end of the day, I don't think his decision will be the Spurs.
If he's close to the Warrios, why are they going for Crawford? How many shooters do they need?

No one but Durant truly knows what he’s thinking, of course, which means it’s armchair psychology time all around. But when considering this Boston meeting that clearly overshadowed the San Antonio Spurs visit that preceded it, it’s best to remember that Durant has always had a certain affinity for the Celtics organization.
"Clearly overshadowed" in terms of its magnitude, not impact, the same way the Clippers' meeting clearly overshadowed the GSW meeting in terms of sheer time. Time, as it turns out, well wasted. Of course the article cops out by saying "no one truly knows" before proceeding with garbage.
Wonder if it was strategic to not bring any of the old big 3.
(insert some random tweet supporting any point I want to make)
Durant isn't going anywhere, now, regular season or post season. He will be the "up and coming" guy forever.
Him going East would also be a win for us. Makes the number 2 team in the West going into the season.
Thing is, Durant doesn't have to sign a long-term deal. Your reasoning is exactly why I and many others believe he'll simply sign a 1-year max deal with OKC and then become a FA again next year. Gives him one more shot at winning with Westbrook and OKC before they both become FAs. If the season goes well, they can both re-sign with OKC. If not, they'll go their separate ways. This also stands to make him the most money, since the cap will be at it's highest next year.
It just makes too much sense for him to do that.
there's too much risk in signing a one year deal whenever you have the chance to sign for 4 to five years guaranteed...and kd already said he wants a long term deal and stability. That's why, I think, we're still in...and we make the most sense for him.
Everybody can praise the draft movement of okc how much they want, but the fact is that the defensive stability and outside shooting given by Ibaka is gone, and a new balance in okc is still to be found and it will take time. imho still with kd in they are not going to be considered improved from last season...
Gs is a good chance of winning...but a poor professional choice and also a risky one, considering that he would need to limit to a great deal his number of shooting chances, that it would be considered in the eyes of everyone the "easy choice", and that he's gonne be the scapegoat in case things go wrong, consiedring that the other three all stars have already won just one year ago without him.
IN SA he's gonna find the ideal place...old veterans winner proven and ready to pass the torch to the new age, but still giving their contribution (TP, Tim, Manu); no anxiety for a title 'cause the main core in already signed for next three years (KL, Green, LA); the chance to be the main weapon but along with people ready to share the touches and shooting chances; plus a coach and a state that he likes 'cause of his connections, plus the beneficial of less taxes.
imho nobody can offer him a package like that but us...
Yeah head to Boston, you can be the new Carmelo Anthony. Mediocre team but you get paid!
Still think there's more to the Spurs story than it appears.
It's ok, Kawhi is in a gym right now determined to be the best player in the NBA. No time for frivolous "recruiting" meetings
