LG 34" UltraWide Curved LED Monitor (34UC98 Black)
Any thoughts on curved monitors?
I am torn between replacing my Asus 144hz 24" pair with this curved monitor or going to a 60+ inch 4K TV in addition to the Asus monitors.
Why curved: I want remove the bezel separating two sides of my screen. I also want to use only one HDMI out from my laptop. Right now I use the HDMI and the mini DP.
Why TV: I would like to be able to move windows to a larger screen for teleconferences so I can walk around my office and do things and still discuss the material.
I think the curved monitor might solve both issues. It's not like my office is a warehouse, but it's as big as some master bedrooms.
The monitor is ~1K. The TV is around the same price. Since Southwest Airlines is footing the bill (reward points) I don't want to pitch in too much for this endeavor.
Anyone here familiar with the curved monitors? I've read the reviews but those reviewing have only a couple weeks with them and still have buyer's joy.
Will the curved monitor allow me to have ~ the same screen space as two 24" monitors? What are the drawbacks?
Thanks

If you're not going to run 4k content, don't even bother with the 4k TV... you're going to stress your videocard for nothing.
That monitor is basically a 2x1440p into one. Just make sure it will run off HDMI, I've only seen Thunderbolt versions of that.
OTOH, 4k TV prices are dropping like flies. You can buy a 60" 4K Vizio for ~$800... I've just seen a 55" at Target for like $600.
I think there's going to be great deals for them come Black Friday if you wanna wait it out.
Don't really have experience with curved monitors, but I've been eyeing the same thing to replace my dual 27" 1080p samsung monitor setup.
We do already have a separate 60" 4K TV for working with that content.

Well, I like my 3 x 2560 x 1440 32" monitors + 1920 x 1200 24". The GTX 950 drives all four just fine.
I settled for the center 1440P in landscape mode, with the other two in portrait mode. The 1200P is to the left in landscape mode also. The three 32" are being driven with displayport, and the 24" with DVI. I still have an unused HDMI connector on the 950.

I paid $550 each for my 1440P monitors, and they are awesome.
Amazon has them for $490:

Newegg has them for $550:

Remember, screen sizes are diagonal. The 32" 16:9 screen I have is about 27.9" x 15.7" of viewing space each. A ultrawide is a 21:9 ratio, and the 34" will have a viewing area of about 31.3 x 13.4" If you ask me, a pair of 32" 16:9 monitors gives a better viewing area. The height of the 32" ultrawide will be just short of a 28" 16:9.

The Youtube reviews and online retailer reviews shows 2 HDMI and 2 Thunderbolt ports. My thought was originally to get the TV and use that but the single monitor seems like a more elegant solution.

You're talking about something I didn't even ask about though. I'm not looking for a 32" monitor.

Just seems to me a pair of 28" to 32" monitors would be better than an ultrawide, unless you need no break in a wide image.

How do two larger monitors overcome the things I mentioned in the OP?
Do you always just read the thread title before responding?

Re: LG 34" UltraWide Curved LED Monitor (34UC98 Black)
Well, there are so many things I want, that are in reality unimportant. Personally, I don't like using a laptop.
I just hope you realize the size differences. The dimensions change with the rectangular ratio. Not all 34" monitors are the same size. Again, your 34" ultrawide will only have a screen height of 13.4" and will be 31-1/4" wide. It's only a little more than 3" wider than my 32" 1440P, and 2.3" shorter.

In short: "No I didn't read the OP"
No one else had a problem with it.
One more time

So there are two optons:
1. Curved monitor listed above
2. 60" or so LED TV

DMC, have you considered the possibility of two 32" monitors instead?

So many options to consider, but I'd recommend something with large bezels
