Obama gave up after his first term to try to get things done to truly better America and just tried to keep the status quo (which clearly wasn't working). The Republicans were just focused on regaining power rather than doing what was right for the country; now they're gonna get their chance, so let's see if they make a difference or close the door on this country.

The funny thing is I think the country has made great strides in race relations. Still a ton of problems and inequities, but there is an awareness that I can feel.

However, how it happened, and they way many things were handled, have led to the feeling that things are worse than ever. This was the part of hope. They had 8 years. There is no hope.
