If they swapped conferences, the Spurs, Thunder and Clippers, would have been in back to back Finals too and if they got the myriad breaks the Cavs did in the back half of the '16 Finals, they might be reigning championships too.

The media is a bunch of sales people. Sales people tend to not know shit about the products they are trying to sell. I doubt most of the media actually has in depth knowledge about the game of basketball. The Cavs being better than the spurs in the media's eye mainly centers around Lebron James and Kyrie are more exciting and popular than Kawhi so they Cavs have to be better than the Spurs.
